  1. I already said this is another thread, but I think the match will be a lot closer this time. CP has improved immensely since the Traicoff. Some of their lesser known guys have really stepped it up and turned into quality wrestlers.
  2. Crown Point will wrestle Mishawaka a lot tougher than they did the first time, that I can guarantee. I'm not saying they are going to win, but it will be closer.
  3. I believe that the IHSAA has stated that the whole point of Team State is to declare a champion, nothing more. With that goal, there is no reason to seed the tournament. That being the case, it is really hard to declare a true runner up. I would prefer it to be seeded and have a 3rd and 4th place match, but I can see how the IHSAA might say that is asking too much. Plus, you would have a hard time seeding the tournament. Take this year for example, who would be the #2 seed? There are at least three teams that have a good argument for it. The way it is right now isn't perfect, but it avoids a lot of problems.
  4. Way to go Bulldogs!! Time to go show Mishawaka how much better you have gotten. Props to DevilDog for providing the updates.
  5. I am sure he was sick or something. They would not take him out on purpose, unless it was a disciplinary thing. But I wouldn't even want to speculate.
  6. I got excited for a minute. I thought I was going to see a Napules vs. Tsirtsis matchup.

    REMATCH

Yes, that is what I was thinking of.

    REMATCH

It would be a shame if it worked out that way, but it has happened before. (Didn't a state champ lose in the ticket round at Merrillville once?) Hopefully Hawkins wins and it won't even be a possibility (CP guy here), but it would still be a shame if either Gregory or Bradley don't even make it down state.
  9. Didn't Merrillville have a couple wrestlers injured at the DAC tournament? Are those wrestlers back in action for tomorrow night?
  10. Just scanned this topic and I cannot believe that anyone would condone with this coach is alleged to have done. I also cannot believe someone can make the FFT in the final match of an already decided dual meet analogy with a straight face. If you can't see the distinction there, then there is no hope for you.
  11. Clever idea, but you wouldn't feel bad for taking away three reservations from the restaurant?
  12. Hawkins over Bradley and King over Kral, huh? Interesting.
  13. It is posted with the rest of them.
  14. CP v. Merrillville and then whoever wins against Portage....now that's a tough regional!
  15. Haha! Weren't the CP brackets the last to come in last year too?
  16. No offense to Butler, but who in the region gives a darn about Butler?
  17. Ok, but is that correct? Here are the draws for the Portage Regional: 1. Portage, 6 pm CT Match 1: Winner at East Chicago Central vs. Winner at LaPorte. Match 2: Winner at Crown Point vs. Winner at Calumet. Championship: Winner of Match 1 vs. Winner of Match 2. Wouldn't that mean Crown Point has Merrillville then the winner of Portage vs. Munster (assuming those teams win their sectional)? I thought Merrillville went to the Calumet sectional, Portage went to the LaPorte sectional, and Crown Point obviously goes to the Crown Point sectional. Am I wrong?
  18. Where did I say anything negative about coach Maldonado? I did not, and would not. The "second coming" remark was made because one of the earlier posters almost literally compared him to Jesus (something about turning grape juice into wine --which I think is how you do it anyway, but I doubt that's what he meant -- go look for yourself; at least that's how I took it). I thought that was a little overboard. That post was the one I was directly responding to. I am not jealous at all--I actually think Merrillville's program is outstanding. I think you might be looking too far into what I said. Just take it at face value. I am sorry if you misunderstood what I said. I was really just pointing out that there are other great coaches in the region who deserve credit too, and I just thought the "grape juice into wine" comment was inappropriate. It is certainly possible I just misinterpreted that comment, in which case I apologize. Perhaps I should have taken a different approach and credited other region coaches, but I did not want to get into a "my coach is better than your coach" debate. Trust me, I didn't mean to demean anyone. I will just end this by saying good luck to all the region teams. I have a lot of respect for all the wrestlers and coaches out there. In fact, it is probably impossible to give any of them too much credit. Again, I apologize if my approach was wrong and I just want you to know I meant no disrespect. Many of your points are well taken. I will be more careful with my posts from now on.
  19. Don't get too cocky, CP fans. Everything went CP's way in the dual against Merrillville, and Merrillville was missing a couple of their top guys at the conference tournament.
  20. I think it's because they have 8 new varsity wrestlers, and I think only 3 seniors.

  22. White singlets are ugly, not to mention the fact that you can see right through them. I would avoid white singlets at all costs.
  23. I don't think any team in Indiana could get that close to Mishawaka.
  24. CP fan here but I am going to agree with you.
