http://s301.trackwrestling.com/tw/predefinedtournaments/MainFrame.jsp?sport=wrestling&TIM=1358685435011&pageName=&ie=false&frameSize=953 Warren with 8 champs, wow. Congrats to the Warriors. Time to go to battle in the postseason.
  2. Eye gouging and grabbing the package are illegal in MMA as well, so that's a silly statement to make. Being 'choked out' has always been part of the sport and the officials should be trained to know what to look for. NFHS made a video that emphasized this in 2001. There are a lot of chokes that are a LEGAL hold, ie. the arm triangle above, however it is illegal when pressure is applied across the throat blocking air and/or blood. We had a kid get choked unconcious last year, I had to run on the mat to stop it. The official about lost it on me until he realized the kid was out.
  3. Congratulations to Coach Hobbs! Great coach, great guy. Blackcat!
  4. Levi became the winningest wrestler in Ben Davis High School history after his 4th win at Warren Central yesterday. He surpassed Chamelon Porter with 139 career wins, pretty impressive. He picked up one more for 140 and I believe he will pick up quite a few more as the season comes to an end and he makes a run for Bankers Life in the post-season. We are very proud of that kid and proud to call him a Giant.
  5. There's actually 19 teams this year. We are trying to fill the brackets up and eliminate FF's. It will be on trackwrestling.com, but probably not until the day before. Anderson, Attica, Ben Davis, Booneville, Cloverdale, Eastern Hancock, Edgewood, Fountain Central, George Washington, Greensburg, Hamilton Southeastern, Mt. Vernon, Indianapolis Northwest, Park Tudor, South Adams, South Putnam, Turkey Run, Speedway and Terre Haute South.
  6. Are there really still 10 programs with no head coach?
  7. Watch out though because Coach Tonte IS coaching football and he's got a great group of 8th graders this season. Tristen is an awesome quarterback and a furocious competitor with some pretty good athletes to accompany him.
  8. Warner vs. Lough was the best match of the day. Great job by both wrestlers.
  9. Not that it matters for team score but Franklin Vs. Ben Davis 195 was our jv kid Dakota Williams not Drew Craig 152 was our jv kid Kalen Phillips not Drake Duncan Good tournament Thanks for having us
  10. Some ranked wrestlers going at it today at Ben Davis. 106 Whitten, 113 Perez, 126 Caldwell-Valdez, 132 Moss, 145 Tatom and Davenport 152 Richey, 160 Neigbarger, Lough and Clough 170 Irick and HWT Janney. Some really good match up possibilities at the end of the day with 145 and 160. Tatom and Davenport should be a good one at 145. 160 is a grinder with three ranked wrestlers going at it, #3 Neibarger and #5 Lough being the highlighted match of the day. There is plenty of other good competition and match ups at BD today, it should be a good day of wrestling.
  11. FYI: The link to my email doesn't work because it's not my full email and, yes, the apostrophe is in the email. The email listed is correct, just don't click on the link that it gives you. oneilljd76@gmail.com works too
  12. Indy West Wrestling Club (Ben Davis) is looking for these three weight classes to wrestle with us at the elementary state duals on January 8. Contact me at jacob.o'neill@wayne.k12.in.us if you are interested. Jake O'Neill
  13. Ben Davis 79.99...returning 12 starters but it's tough when some of those starters may not crack the line up (stinking weight class changes). Could be a good thing for us though, some of these kids need to get bigger for us. And we had a transfer that started for LC last year that I am not counting...that puts us at 81.24. It also doesn't change the fact that Perry is in our Sectionals.
  14. The Ben Davis Wrestling Program is hosting a 5K run/walk on Saturday 10/29 at the Ben Davis Cross Country Course, the race begins at 10:30. All ages are welcome, it will be $25 for on site registration that will be from 9am-10am that morning. It will be $20 for preregistration, email bendaviswrestling@yahoo.com for preregistration info. Awards given to top three finishers in each age group: 12 & Under, 13-18, 19-49 and 50 & Up. Runners and walkers are encouraged to dress up, there will be a $100 prize given to the best costume of the event. Come on out to the westside of Indianapolis for a good run, to have fun and support some wonderful kids.
  15. It was an awesome service for an awesome kid. The setting was really cool. The auditorium was full, the stage set up like a dual meet with Trever's singlet in the middle of the mat. The bench on one side of the mat had all former Wabash wrestlers/managers and on the other side was the current team, in warm ups, weight class order and leaving a chair open for Trever. His casket sat on the floor in front with the TRC conference podium on one side and the Sectional/Regional podium on the other, both with action shots of Trever sitting on top. It was moving to see the outreach from the wrestling community. The tight bond that wrestling families have, shined bright yesterday. It had to have comforted Trever's parents to see how many lives he touched in this sport.
  16. Trever loved the sport of wrestling more than anything. When he was an 8th grader, he would ride the bus with the high school team on Saturdays just so he could sit and watch wrestling all day. He couldn't get enough. A couple of summers ago, he went to three different camps. He just recently started attending CIA sessions and had plans on making it to Conseco next season. This is truly a tragedy to the community of Wabash and the Williams family...I'm not taking it to well either. He was a sharp kid with a bright future and I will personally miss him dearly. Jake O'Neill
  17. UINDY: Tony Starkes - Decatur Central Nick Mayer - Evansville Mater Dei
  18. Coach Dullaghan used to say "Luck is when preparation meets opportunity." And, Clayton works hard, trust me.
  19. I was blessed to have a few conversations with Ray at the OTC this last fall. It was an exhilerating experience...he's awesome. While we were there, he was attending one of the sessions with us. At the beginning, he's sitting and listening in jeans and a very loud polo shirt. Steve Frazier comes in with some of his Jr. World Team members on the other end of the room. Next thing I know,Ray's over there, going live with one boy...full out sweat goin...still in his jeans and polo (and a pair of socks). He's in Wisconsin now.
  20. Your focus needs more focus...correct me if I'm wrong, we are not trying to change the individual tournament...stay on track here fellas
