  1. ISWA Annual Meeting Lawrence North High School 7802 Hague Road, Indianapolis IN Sunday, September 12th Tournament Bidding Meeting - 9:00 am Annual Meeting - 10:30 am Mark Your Calendar!
  2. I agree. The 3 week-ends in a row will be difficult but the alternative would be to host Central Regionals the following week-end which is Memorial Day. That would mean higher prices for hotel rooms as well as heavy traffic. To go even later conflicts with Schoolboy Duals. When attempting to schedule events, there is never a time that does not create a conflict for some.
  3. At this time, the venues have not been determined.

  6. 4 day camp, transportation, lodging, meals, entry fee, 2 singlets, 2 t-shits, jacket, bag, shorts. Transportation is the most expensive, depending on how far you have to travel. Some states do not include transportation in their cost but require wrestlers to provide their own way to Fargo. While there are some states that pay less than Indiana, there are others that pay more. USA Wrestling did a cost survey a couple of years ago and Indiana's trip cost fell in the mid-range.
  7. All clubs hosting a tournament, appearing on the ISWA calendar, only pay for a sanction and an ad in the publication and on the web site. Total = $250.00. All proceeds derived from the tournament remain with the host club. Most use the profit to support their club and high school wrestlers. If the ISWA hosted a tournament to fund the SB Duals, it would be in direct competition with one of their member clubs. FYI: In 2010, the ISWA contributed $38, 400.00 to offset the cost of team Indiana trips. This amount is spread over all the trips, including Schoolboy Duals.
  8. Indiana Gold finished 7th in Freestyle out of 32 teams. 3 Indiana wrestlers were selected as members of the All Tournament Team Each wrestled 5 or more matches and went undefeated. Greco-Roman All-Tournament team Brock Hudkins, Indiana Blue, 7 - 0 Freestyle All-Tournament team 84 - Tommy Cash, Indiana Gold, 11-0 112 - Cody LeCount, Indiana Gold, 11-0
  9. I would like feedback from coaches and parents regarding the lack of participation in this event. Should the ISWA eliminate the camp? Should they eliminate some of the equipment? Should they just field one team per style or 2 freestyle teams and only 1 Greco? There are 31 freestyle teams and 28 Greco teams participating this year. The ISWA had to turn some Greco teams away because, due to time, 28 is the maximum Greco teams allowed at this event. It is sad that so many other states are excited about this event and we can?t field 2 teams per style when it in our own backyard. Something needs to change. Two other factors that impact the lack of participation are the trend toward Folkstyle and the Disney Duals. I think we need to come up with some answers because the ISWA is at risk of losing this event. There are several other states that would love to host it.

  11. Just to clarify...The Central Regional Championships is a USA Wrestling Event. The ISWA only serves as the LOC (local organizing committee). The pairing personel are assigned by USWOA. This year, the pairing staff consisted of pairers from Indiana, Ohio and Michigan. The ISWA had little to no say in how the tournament was paired. My personal opinion......I feel that although the pairers assigned to these events are high ranking, very knowledgeable and beleive in going by the book, they lose sight of what is best for the wrestlers and their parents.

  19. 3 per weight class for a total of 45 plus all who qualify at Regionals or FILA Juniors. It is a little complicated though. You can actually send 4 in one weight class if you only have 2 in another. For example: if you only have 2 wrestlers choose to go at 98, you can take an additional wrestler at 135 for a total of 4. Wrestlers who quailify at regionals or FILA Juniors do not count against your total.
  20. All Juniors who did not qualify by placing in the top 4, in the Junior age division, at a Freestyle qualifying tournament must pre-register for Junior Freestyle State. High School Cadets who wish to wrestle at Junior State must also pre-register by midnight tonight. We are not using trackwrestling for pre-registration. You will need to email Carol Schroeder, ISWA Statistics Director, with the following information: Name Date of Birth Address, City, Zip Phone# Grade in School USA Wrestling Competitor?s card number To pre-register, send your information to: schroederfam7@verizon.net. Deadline to pre-register is MIDNIGHT TONIGHT!
  21. I updated TC to include Williamson. He used a different name for Greco which it made it a little confusing.

  24. The tournament meeting is always the second Sunday in September. This year it will be September 12. It is really difficult to have it any sooner due to Duals, Fargo, vacations, etc. The board meeting to decide the 2011 State Final dates is Sunday, June 27.
