  1. Diff rules bk then .Wrestling 5 matches every Saturday, we Attended few 2 day Tourneys that you get 7-10 matches a weekend and Peck loved to get us as many matches as possible and wanted us seasoned for tourney time...Back then we also had good numbers every year with HOFer Sparky Griffiths pipeline, so that even our JV was tough and we would let them get 10-15 varsity matches in place of us Decent guys. Matt Jaggers (210-12) or Mac Taylor(Mac held HS national Win record at one time 221-8, between him and Jaggers that have 8 state appeances 7 medals between them) Guys like them made deep runs every year and had too wrestle the matches they did get, any mat time was crucial cuz they were being ducked a lot.. I seen so many teams FF to Jaggers not only cuz he was nearly automatic bonus points, it was his ruthless style being so Relentless and mean, that guys wouldn't want to get their head snapped down off the mat again and teched like he done to them inthe past.. So They had to get the matches they could, and it got so bad jaggers senior year he went up from 125 to 135 to get tested in the form of multiple time placer/qualifier Brandon Gonzales of Delta who took 6th at 35 that same season.. Jaggers only beat Gonzo by a point , which is exactly how every match they had growing up ended !@NavyGonzo it's still the man though I obviously wasn't on that level, most matches I got in a year was 47 my senior year and around 150 total, which is still plenty..I didn't make deep runs either being a few times over a ticket round choke artist so I didn't get to the 50s like many of my peers at New castle did. Jaggers vs Escobedo actually is the most combined wins going into the finals with 56-0 Jaggers and Angel 61-0... Matt was 50 something a 0 going into state his junior year as well.. With today's rules coach Peckinpaugh wouldn't have been able to break the national record for Dual meet wins by a coach with him running a staggering 1003 dual meets in his career with a pair of State runner up team finishes among countless other accolades.. There isn't hardly a dozen schools with 1000 wins in their school history let alone 1 coach... I know all those guys from New Castle are proud of being top 10 career wins in state history, but they would much rather have a state title and team state titles... That was the longest answer ever, Ruth this being a very loaded question, I rambled a answer lol
  2. Guarantee it... I just come to the realization but wrestling is just too damn awesome for average Joe's to try and put into words what their witnessing when they don't know a double leg from a double cheeseburger.
  3. Making weight two straight days after Thanksgiving def not the deepest team wise but every year I had studs there, you beat Chris Shaw on our team, he was decent, conference champ but I remember you beating him soundly.
  4. That Bulldog he used to run him half way across the mat was NASTY!
  5. We wrestled y'all at Lawrence North Thanksgiving 2 day tourney and you beat me in a good scrap like 7-5 our sophmore year I believe if this is Andrew?.. That was good comp there, 7 quality matches every year... Also do you remember Thadeus vs Jaggers wild match in 2000ish?
  6. What got you 2 arguing? None my business just being nosey
  7. Yes, his headlock didn't discriminate..Naegle,Cory Garrard and Jason Madden had best headlocks I had ever seen till the Stud from Princeton this year.
  8. That was my senior year at my weight but I choked in ticket round like I did against your team mate Jerry Gordon my Jr year.. in 04 Naegle pinned Dosher, I remember your team mate Ervin getting Runner up at at 160... Made it worse when I had nearly teched Steckler and Beat 4th placer Branam handily iirc.. After me and Tim Bradley become buddies and training partners I never let him forget he took part in crushing my dreams in 03' coaching Jerry to the win
  9. That was brutal!! He could hit it from anywhere.
  10. Bubba Dickersons 4th straight pin in the finals to win his State title of the Junior pinning future Notre Dame football 2 way Captain BJ Scott in a little over a minute with a nasty dump series! Spending hardly 10 minutes on the mat and four matches combined in the state finals that year. Silas Allred various 4 Series from the top depending and everybody including one here pin or place in the finals to complete a full season of nothing but pins and including one of the most dominant to your runs I've ever seen with only one wrestler making it to the final whistle being State runner up Nick wilham who is the starter at IU right now.. to this day as in red shirt and Nebraska Pinning everybody with 6 of his 7 wins this season being pinned with the other one being a techful being 7 and 0 on the season with a pin over highly ranked bastida of Iowa State. The time Mason Todd literally jumped over Jared Brooks in the state finals and scored a big take down to upset the highly nationally ranked Brooks. Nick Hobbs of beech Grove following his State runner up heart breaking loss in the finals to the legendary 4xer Mauer the year before ...Hobbs was losing by 2 on Friday night the following year and instead of cutting the guy with 5 seconds left he just dropped down and hit the nastiest quick tilt for three that I've ever seen and just walked off like business as usual AKA one of the most cool guy moves I've ever seen. Angel Escobedos cross knee pick from the front headlock position was disgusting, especially when it's at the expense of your best friend and team mate in the state title match.
  11. Ty Thrine will be a treat for everyone to watch .. Kids guy unreal potential especially if he starts wrestling more than 3 months a year.

  17. Allred graduated a year early, I couldn't imagine him having anther year, that 2 year run he has was the most dominant I've ever seen with only Willham aka IU current starter going the distance being majored Silas' jr title.. I see a rivalry we Ferrari on the horizon.. Heard his really really taking well to the room at Nebraska and his though limited matches this year he's 7-0 with 6 pins and a tech with one of his pins over current top 10 Ranked stud.Yonger Bastida who's 23 and a very accomplished FS wrestler and Bastida holds 2 wins over #10 ranked Elam,#7 Warner and our own top 20 ranked Penola.
  18. Great opportunity for anybody trying to get better!
  19. Harbor freight has them I believe
  20. Cosgrove vs McGill never got old
  21. I can think of tons of qualifiers placers/state champs that placed or won Frosh/sophmore state
  22. He looked really good this past weekend, best of luck.
  23. That was a great memory and I literally LAUGHED OUT LOUD reading this... Those were the times ppl could smoke in restaurants, parents Send kids to the store with Notarized notes to get cigs and Q95 on at the cook out playing with funny smells the air
