  1. Referee looked to have the best view in the building.
  2. Does anyone have the 2003 lineup and results against St Paris Graham and EMD?
  3. Just reading this topic, I an not sure people understand that a big 10 head coaching job is pretty prestigious. I was hoping that Purdue would make a run at Terry Brands when he was at Chattanooga (wrestling powerhouse), but they didn't. long story short the big 10 is far superior to the old big 12 and both schools should be able to land any number of coaches they want. It is obvious that to have a successful program you need a coach that has had some success. Look at the top programs...PSU, Iowa, ok state....pretty good petigree in those coaches. PSU was a middle of the road big ten team and with one hire they are 3x defending champs now. Purdue needs at someone with at least an NCAA title to be their coach to draw kids that want succeed. Can you imagine what his pitch was to Howe, Tsirtsis and Micic..."I believe you guys have what it takes to be a 1 time All American, and I can teach you how". Those guys are all from that area. But unfortunatly I am a realist also. If your AD is known for being cheap you are gonna get what you pay for. Plus, the the schools around you are getting the cream of the crop you are going to have to do the best with what you can get. Their wrestlers don't get in trouble etc... Northwestern should be used as a model as they are a tough school academically (and expensive) and don't have a super big name coach and they have no real history so how can they land all of these super recruits and be competitive. I have no real insight into either program, and I very rarely attended meets (which looking back is unfortunate) but I am just comparing them to their peers within the conference.
  4. Probably an easy one here, but why is Winfield above Hemmelgarn at hwt? Hemmelgarn finished 3rd at state and beat Winfield on the way.
  5. FYI the "expanded view" is better than "full screen"
  6. Is it a little jumpy for everyone else? If not I will restart my computer and try again!
  7. Schlatter and Lang were 2 especially tough guys that come to mind that Alex had to wrestle in freestyle. National champ and runner up, multiple AA's between them. I am sure there are others... Time will tell how the guys that Jason was/will wrestle will do in college.
  8. I have heard that T. March is done wrestling. However, this was through a friend of a friend.
  9. With as small as this school is they must not have any practice partners....Do they drill together???
  10. 2 state champs...is this a 5A school? ~sarcasim Where do they fit in the class wrestling discussion?
  11. Wacthing it on my 46" Plasma. Looks pretty good to me!
  12. wasn't there 3 champs in one class that didn't win a couple years ago?
  13. WOW!!!!! No offence, but I mean, thats not that bad of a loss, when you look at it, Hall did beat Sandefer, not like its going to happen again, but hes no slouch and he compete with the best of them any loss as a senior at state is a bad loss.... Is that right? You know what, thinking about it....if you are just happy to be there and you draw into a stud then maybe there is such a thing.... What does your grade have to do with how you perform??? Think first, type second. It has to do with your chance's in next years tournament....If you're a senior there is no tournament dude
  14. WOW!!!!! 15. What 1980's Avon team was better than the 2004-05 Avon team, dual meet or individual state scoring system? I would suggest the either the 87 or the 89 team would out point the latter Avon team. I do not have the lineups, but it would be interesting. As I recall those teams were in the top 5 and I don't know it they lost any duals. But there weren't as many duals then either.
  16. WOW!!!!! No offence, but I mean, thats not that bad of a loss, when you look at it, Hall did beat Sandefer, not like its going to happen again, but hes no slouch and he compete with the best of them any loss as a senior is a bad loss.... my bad, a better wording would be that wasn't that big of an upset, when you look at it, and both were seniors that both wanted it, I wish I would have seen the match yeah, but what are you gonna do....can't plan on losing the week before so wouldn't draw into him...bummer.....
  17. I hear what your saying, but I'll bet that's no consolation right now....
  18. WOW!!!!! No offence, but I mean, thats not that bad of a loss, when you look at it, Hall did beat Sandefer, not like its going to happen again, but hes no slouch and he compete with the best of them any loss as a senior at state is a bad loss....
  19. It does in college...and in any tournament in the state.....
  20. I didn't take the time to read much of this thread...and I really could care less about this topic but here are my 2 cents. I went to Avon and their best wrestling teams were when the were a 2a high school. When I was there in the 90's we were 4A and weren't any better than the previous teams and we had the same coaches and facilities. I don't want to take anything away from the more current wrestlers there but even since the school went 5a and got brand new facilities they are not as good as in the 80's....granted they got 2nd in the state tournament teamwise (a fantastic achievement with an admittly favorable draw) but this wasn't by the same scoring as in earlier days. Congratulations to those wrestlers again! Other high schools such as Ben Davis and Decatur Central and Delta were powerhouses and haven't gotten any smaller so shouldn't they be better than all the other small schools? One other thing that came to mind was in the early 90's there was a state finalist that was the only person on his wrestling team...whether he went to the biggest or smallest school in the state it didn't matter.
