If Kuhn gasses this saturday like he did last saturday, Seng will beat him. Seng hit a head lock late that would have tied the match and taken it to overtime.

Crowd size was pitiful. It is no wonder the IHSAA is doing away with team state. Wrestling is at an all time low in popularity.

The main reason for the loss of Team State can be seen here on this website. The popularity of wrestling has been declining for several years now. Just look at the number of posters and posts on some of these threads. Just an example: The SIAC tournament thread for this week has only 2-3 pages. I can remember a time where a thread like this would have 10-15 pages in a week. Attendance at the events I have been to in the last few years has been declining. I have been to every Team State since its inception. Last year the whole crowd could have fit into a quarter of the gym. -

Not so fast. The IHSAA said that the attendance was declining the past 5 years, 3 of which MD was there for. -
I never thought I would see the day that MD's only undefeated wrestler heading into the SIAC tournament would be their 285. There have been so many years MD has struggled to field a 285.

Does anyone know the score and match results from MD/Central? As usual the Courier has nothing on it.

My thoughts on this event: If this had been an Indiana/Kentucky dual, I think Kentucky would have won. I saw several Ky. wrestlers who could place top 4 in the In. individual tournament. I saw only one from In. that I think can place top 4 this year. I know the south will be well represented at the individual state finals this year, but not many will come from this tournament. It is pretty bad that Kentucky Day school brought 1 wrestler and outscored Vincinnes Lincoln. I have never seen Franklin as weak as they were this year.

If MD doesn't win the match with Castle by at least 35-40, MD will lose to Castle at the Dual team SS again this year. The past 2 years MD has beaten Castle at this event by 17-20 points then lost to them in the dual team tournament. Castle seems to improve throughout the season while MD hasn't.

My favorite was Jon Sheets vs Craig Weinzapfel, semi finals of state. Sheets was the undefeated defending state champ. Craig came off the bottom for 5 to go ahead and then held on for the win. I was sitting in the middle of a huge crowd of Bellmont fans, and you could have heard a pin drop, if not for the lone fool screaming his head off. ;D -
I have been to every one since the tournament began, even the last two, which my team did not qualify for. I would hate to see the team state tournament die. My most exciting sports memory is the MD come from behind win over Hobart.

I believe Reitz will be the top dog this year. They return alot from a really strong team. I think MD will be second. They also return a strong core from last year, but I do not believe they will be as good as Reitz. Castle should be third. They have a strong core of studs, but graduation hit them harder than the other two. Everyone may feel free to contradict my guesses. Discuss.

It has been my experience with my grandkids that I can get them to do almost anything I want them to do by just spending time with them. They will have fun doing almost anything as long as you are paying attention to them. Just my 2 cents.

You might want to ask Ryan Pribble from Turkey Run if he would have rather won a state championship in a multi class system or the way he did in a single class. I bet he would rather be the best in that weight class for the whole state and not have everyone saying he could not have won in the big class.

Was over in Missouri and the school there had a state champ 40-11. Bet the colleges were climbing all over him. "I'm a state champ. The best in the state, well accept for those other 7 guys."
