  1. I agree 100% we need to stop doing this in our own state tournament. I believe we should wait until awards are done and get an interview then.
  2. I think John Sims did it from MD against Luke Welch from Castle. Welch won the title though.
  3. I agree completely, with that many matches it would be difficult to get quality opponents.
  4. Seabass getting the 3rd seed is interesting after the MFF. Having Eirman and Seabass in the opposite side of the bracket makes a much easier road to the finals for Lee. There was virtually no negative implications for any of the MFF's. I don't know how to make it happen but what if MFF's were unable to gain higher than 6th seed (I just picked a # maybe 10th seed would be better) do you think it would stop them? Unless we call a MFF a disquisition I don't know if we'll ever see it not being abused. I'd hate to see it go that far though.
  5. At MD in 95 I got beat in the first round of semistate and had about 30 matches. We got snowed out for Indiana's best and I missed a few matches early so if a guy went to state and won 1st round I'd say he'd have about 40 matches in. We did a lot of tripple and quad duals and a couple tournaments.
  6. Blueandgold was posting how great CP was this year (they are very very talented) and that he was glad we wouldn’t have to hear about the 03 MD team anymore and I just ran with it. Also blueandgold was really talking after finals (I am of the opinion that maybe someone had a few to drink but just my opinion) and maybe he might have posted some regrettable things. I’m just having fun I hope he is too but if someone is butt hurt it isn’t me.
  7. Let me clarify, when I said “not the kind you smoked” I was not referring to you personally I was using “you” in general like “This is how you row the boat.” No intent was made to assume “blueandgold” smokes anything. My bad on that.
  8. Where do I line up for that autograph? I'll bet the line is wrapped around the block!
  9. Plenty of grass touchin going on, no issues there. I'm not talking about the kind you smoke either. Trollin' aint easy!
  10. Didn't Ellis lat drop just about everyone?
  11. Am I allowed to talk about MD in a "blueandgold" started post or is it just the 2003 team we're not supposed to talk about? Chris Wildeman's defensive pin against Richie Diggs. Greg Schaefer's slick directional change in the finals of 95. Dustin Nosko's top body (shhhhh this one was 2003 don't tell blueandgold). Baumann's throw on Major in the 2021 finals. Gabe Sollars' brute force with a touch of finesse. The list could go on and on I just have to crack open the ol' memory bank some more.
  12. I'm sure we've all been there a time or two when life gets really hard. You have bills to pay, a family to support, and you're trying your best to keep up, then something happens and the car has problems or the roof is leaking or whatever. For me, that's when I reach down into my own soul and say "I can do this, I've been through tougher situations, harder practices, weight control, and tough as nails matches. I can do this." I'm not saying my problems magically go away but they do seem more manageable from this perspective. This is what I find most valuable about wrestling, it teaches you to deal with problems and issues, as you said, there are no time outs, no substitutions, just you and your "opponent". In life, I'm not saying I'm undefeated but I'm still in the tournament!
  13. Ahhh the days when my metabolism was on my side and I couldn't gain weight if I tried. Enjoy that while it lasts, I'm sure he's a machine in the practice room though!
  14. Steve Anslinger was a state qualifier. Great official, great coach great with little kids, and older kids as well. Steve refs high school and grade school levels. Steve will ref with the same professionalism at any level but will occasionally crack when he's got really young wrestlers, he takes the necessary time to show proper starting positions and has a little fun with the little ones. He does NOT take any disrespect of any kind and I think that's pretty cool. If Steve isn't already in the HOF he is well on his way.
  15. Speaking on high school level alone let's not forget the Dolly sought Maurer out. Post high school Dolly had a pretty good showing, Dolly could have been a state champ had he not chose to go after Blake. Maurer beat the #1 in the country at Dapper Dan I believe. I'm not saying Maurer was the GOAT by any means but a match between Maurer and Howe would be interesting. I believe we have yet to see what Mr. Mendez brings to the table after high school. I think Mendez will see much success at college, I'm not sure about Olympic or world titles but that's just because I have not looked at Mendez's freestyle matches. It will be a fun journey to watch unfold though! On another note, Lee could have easily been a 4xer, he just chose to chase the best competition he could find AND he skipped his senior year. I think Chad Red deserves a nod as well if we are talking about high school careers.
  16. I never placed in big 10's anybode else here place in that tournament?
  17. I agree Micic is not built for 141. But 4th place in big 10's is better than 95% of people.
  18. Could have guessed that would happen hope Micic comes through.
  19. I always have this feeling that college top tier wrestlers sand bag a little until NCAA'S, 1st or 2nd seed isn't a bad spot to be in. My point is Eirman might not show his hand for Big 10 but may have a whole new level of funk come NCAA finals if we see this match up again in a few weeks. We still have to see what happens tomorrow before NCAA'S. On the other hand I feel Pletcher saw NCAA slipping away so he put it all out there for Big 10's. That might explain his showing a #1 after beating Lee at big 10's. Of course this is all speculation on my part, they could all go 100% all the time and we are just the armchair quarterbacks. I'm looking forward to tomorrow's match though!
  20. Rivera MFF is an interesting twist, wonder how that is going to pan out for Rivera. Can Rivera still get into NCAA'S? Will this have an effect (affect?) on Lee vs Eirman match? With Lee getting the tech I don't see it as that much of a hurdle for Lee but as we know Eirman is no slouch.
  21. I believe the score at Big 10 was 8-6 after looking it up. NCAA was a wider margin.
  22. I believe you are right on that. I've not looked up the results yet though.
  23. At 141 what do you think the possibility is that Riviera beats Eirman in the semi's. Lee beat Riviera by the slightest of margins last year at NCAA's.
