  1. Graduates from 2000, should be on the 90's team. I also agree that Fred Joseph should be included. Possibly Jason Tabor(champ and 4th at 140), Eric Keith(three time qualifier and champ at 140).
  2. You have a good point and I agree with you, but 119-130 are loaded. Possibly the toughest classes in the state with five champs in the three classes and runners-up in each.
  3. Cook from Valpo. He was a state runner-up freshman year at 103. Sophomore year he lost in the first round to Lowell kid at 112.
  4. Hobart used to be there because when they were in the DAC that is when our dual took place. Never wrestled them on Wednesday night. It was Hobart, Proviso East, Providence Catholic, and in 98 Western was there. Providence brought two teams with them to this meet. Were ranked nationally at this time. (Known as Black Saturday)
  5. If it means more time I have to spend in Merrillville's spacious gym then I am firmly against it!!!
  6. Craig Fruth from Clark. Placed eighth at 160 and was first qualifier from Clark in 14 years.
  7. Last year between Churchard and Roach. Sectional, Regional, Semi, and State final all won by Churchard but very good matches. Ryan Lee from Michigan City and David Torres from Portage had some good battles in 98.(Placed 5th and 7th at state 215) Tabor beating Jankowski in the state final and Jankowski returning the favor in the team final. Minor smoking Stone at 135 in 99 semi-state final and Stone returning the favor at state final.
  8. I also agree that Harper will be the next four timer for Indiana, but right now I would have to say that Quiroga has looked tough this year and has had better competition. It is still early in the season, and anything can happen. Possibly the Al Smith invite could provide some clarity in this department. One of the toughest tournaments in the state.
  9. Vlink started in early to mid 80's and had the team of the region during that period. Beginning in the 90's Portage started to come up. From '95 to '98 Coach Tharp had a dual record of 96-4(I think). Four time state qualifying and one runner-up finish. Three state champs and many placers. I know it was a short period, but that is an impressive job even for a short time. And you also have to throw in there that his assistant was Pendoski, who revitalized the kids program in Portage. He continued Portage's dominance after he took over in '99.(I am not from Portage)

    Rivalries

As delivered last night, Crown Point/Merrillville. This rivalry never rests, all year every year.
  11. Thanks for the coverage. Was looking forward to this meet, but had to work. You know the papers don't give our sport the coverage or respect it's due. Excellent job.
  12. I'm not from Portage but they also had Stanfel placer at 125, Torres two time placer at 215, Warner champ at 152, Alaniz qualifier at 160(I think) Tabor champ at 140, and Moreno two time placer 112.
