Team title could be interesting. Carmel , HSE, Westfield, , and Fishers have the depth to possibly challenge. I see each with 5-6 potential finalist. Sectional title will probably be decided by who gets their remainder wrestlers into those 3-4th place matches. With the right draws---any of these teams could put out 10-11 regional qualifiers on the right day.
Leb should have qualifiers at 119, 125, 130, and 152----I am not familiar with the reat of their team
Zionsville has 8-9 potential qualifiers with possible finalists at 152 and 160. They are well coached and on a given day others will get in to the finals as well
I need to put in a good word for two hoosier crossroads conference 112 pounders. Gray from Fishers beat Jolas from Huntington North (who is ranked). He lost to Snyder from HSE 1-0 in conference final. Also lost to him in the dual. Snyder and Gray were both semi-state qualifiers last year. Gray at 119 and Snyder a 103
Hoosiers Crossroads Conference will be held this Saturday. teams represented: Zionsville, Noblesville, Avon, Brownsburg, Hamilton Southeastern, Westfield, Fishers, Lafayette Harrison, Lafayette Jeff, and McCutcheon.
This years event appears to be wide open with Hamilton Southeastern and Westfield as the favorites. Seeding meeting will be held tonight.
We ended up with about 12 football players joining our team about 10 days ago. Tomorrow will be the first time they compete with us. There are 5-6 starters in this bunch. We feel that this has the potential to be the best team we have fielded in our 5 years as a high school------we will know more after we see how we do at County on the 18th. This is the first for this event and features 8 teams---Fishers, HSE, Hamilton Heights, Carmel, Westfield, Noblesville, Guerin, and Sheridan.
These guys are coming off an extreme high which has added energy to our room. However, it will be interesting on their conditioning after just 10 days of practice-----We have a very hardworking group---and I think you will see our best come January as we get everyone to the right weight.
Knock on wood---we did not lose anyone that decided they would skip the season and focus on football.
The key-- as always-- is to keep everyone healthy.
awesome idea---I coached at Toledo Saint Johns----many memorable duals with Central. Doc was coach at Saint Francis when I wrestled. I coach at Fishers and we bring our team to the Saint Johns Tournament over the holidays
. We would love to get info on this once you have it---though not top 20 ---we field a competitive team.

December 4th at Westfield is looking like a very good tournament. They are featuring 16 teams----including Roncalli, Zionsville, Princeton, Evansville Memorial, Fishers, Ben Davis, Lebanon------Not sure of the other 9. Dual meet format---4 pools of 4.
Fishers and Union County are at New Castle December 11th.
Is there a chance New Castle will go with a different formula? Otherwise wouldn't this cause temptations at Richmond---sort of a pick the quarter bracket you like best
This thread is absurd.. None of these wrestlers mentioned have gotten to where they are today by ducking anyone. You do not get this good without years of hard work and dedication. Wrestlers of this caliber thrive on wrestling the best competition they possibly can. These young men are some of Indianas best and should only be receiving our praises
I think HSE was 2 points behind McCutcheon and 6 behind Harrison-----so the one point did not make a difference------130 and 135 were fun to watch---lots of parity
Congrats to Laffayette Harrison who outlasted McCutcheon and HSE---all were within 5 points. It came down to Harrison's Heavyweight in the championship match
A big school has different challenges:
1) A successful football program can hurt a wrestling program
2) We have other sports that attract would be wrestlers---Rugby, swimming, lacrosse, and Hockey
There are so many choices that sometimes wrestling takes a back seat to others
Laf Harrison has 9 1st thru 3rd seeds
McCutcheon has 7 and Laf Jeff 6
There will be changes to the seeds on Saturday---there always are--- The seeds never go as expected. As far as Acost---the seeds at 130 are quality individuals---all have records that are better. Gadient from Noblesville is 6th with a record of 19-6. Acosta I believe is 5-5. I know Acosta is very good---and I would not be suprised to see him place.
Avon has a 6 way tomorrow but they currently only have 3 teams---Avon, Carmel, and Fishers. Goal is to increase to 6 next year. Might be worth a call to Avon
Carmel, Clinton Central, Clinton Prairie, Fishers, Frankfort, Hamilton Southeastern, Lebanon, Rossville, Sheridan, Western Boone, Westfield, Zionsville
Not the toughest but always very competetive---can always count on 6-7 quality full line-ups. other teams usually have 3-4 strong individuals
I agree---At Fishers JV tournament we had 1/2 dozen seniors wrestle. To me if you put in the time you deserve to wrestle. A JV is your back up---so if that happens to be a senior that works.
I believe the teams are Benton Central, McCutchean, Laf Harrison, Tipton, Fishers, and of course W Lafayette. 3 Hoosier Crossroads teams battling will prove to be interesting.
Sometimes a wrestlers style matches up better than anothers. I have seen some wrestlers perform under the lights better. Wrestle offs should act as an indicator but I am not sure they are the tell all. Many coaches can see who is hot that week, sometimes you go with the older guy even though he is not necessarily the better wrestler---in a big match he might handle the pressure better.
Just a few thoughts that could factor in
