  1. I completely agree, but I have to tell you I incorporated a TON of results. On average, every team has more than 30 distinctly different results. Obviously there are a few that don't have great results available, but there's definitely enough to make both ratings at least as accurate as any rating system currently in place for college football (11-13 results), for example. Especially for POTENTIAL, all I have to have is 4 or 5 solid score results before they are slotted well because of how the interconnectedness of the system works. Your quality gets revealed pretty quickly as long as you don't wrestle five top-10 teams or five bottom-10 teams. It's just the SOS data that suffers.
  2. You're right. I looked it up. It was 8-5 for the senior O'Brien in Kasten's sophomore year. Kasten then had 5-4 and 7-2 match scores against Piwoszkin and Wolfe his junior year--the only year he won state at 215.
  3. Decbell, It may have gotten erased before I posted again, explaining that I was messing around because I thought the thread was an inside joke and had no idea of its topic. They may have thought I was being malicious, since my post made absolutely no sense in context...or they just wanted to save me from embarrassment! Nice job, Hunter, and thanks for the help, Decbell.
  4. A couple more small changes because of old results I've been looking through: Southwood joins the fold in the Peru regional (they should have a say at sectional; I'd completely missed their results before). Also, I somehow didn't realize the consistency of performances by North Central...they're fringe top 20 at worst, so they've moved up a couple spots as well
  5. It looks like your tough schedule has paid off. A lot of nice seeds for you. Good luck tomorrow. By the way: Do you think the proposed new weight classes nationally (i.e. 107,115,122) will allow for more full lineups in the IPSAC in the lower weights? How many schools may have filled 107 this year if it had been the lowest weight?
  6. O'Brien never had close matches his senior year. Kasten had a couple of close matches at state the year he won 215...it was only his junior year.
  7. Absolutely, CP is still the favorite. If they get half of the potential probability, there's not enough to go around for anyone else to be the favorite. I was merely stating the fact that the road is much, much more difficult having to go through BOTH Portage and Merrillville.
  8. Good draws for Perry and Merrillville. It doesn't matter if you're seemingly the best team (like Crown Point at Portage); if you have to beat two teams against which you're favored 70% to 30% back to back, you have only about 50/50 odds at surviving both matches. Perry got a nice draw; CP did not.
  9. This makes sense. Also I see now that Heritage Hills wrestled "Louisville Trinity" and Evansville Memorial wrestled "Trinity,KY" on the same day. People must be referring to the same school.
  10. Are there two Trinity High Schools from Kentucky that have been wrestling in southern Indiana some this year? I've seen results for "Louisville Trinity" and simply Trinity, KY. Are these the same school? If so, how did they lose to Perry Meridian by 79 points and come so close to Jeffersonville, EMD, and Franklin? Thanks
  11. I made a couple of small changes based on recent results and recently having seen earlier results that I didn't know about before. Chesterton and Lake Central moved up a slot each. Elkhart Memorial traded places with Goshen. WL Harrison moved up a slot (I consider their tourney victory over McCutcheon/Jeff about half as important as their dual losses to the same teams). That's about it for changes.
  12. If seeds hold up, placement and advancement points project EMD as a 7-point favorite over Reitz and a 30-point favorite over Castle.
  13. I was a senior and Jason was a sophomore the year they moved from Warsaw to Wawasee. I dropped from 140 to 135 mid-season and he moved teams and had split results. Both of us ended up being unseeded and randomly drawn in since we didn't have enough matches at one weight with one team--even though both of us were undefeated in conference for the season. There weren't even enough qualified entrants to have a 4th seed. We ended up on the mat facing each other at 9:30 in the morning and neither of us faced a close match the rest of the day, finishing 1st and 3rd. The system could use a tweak...considering that was almost 15 years ago.
  14. His weight plan wouldn't let him go to 152 until now. It's been his plan all along. As someone else said, Y2 must've known this.
  15. Could you proofread/edit your post? I was interested to understand your point, but I couldn't follow your scenario. I'm not being sarcastic. I'm interested in your post. Thanks.
  16. Yeah, again, we're splitting hairs trying to separate them. If you want to compare victory margins, then we have to bring in other results too: EMD 47, Memorial 9; Reitz 34, Memorial 24. These matches happened just before Christmas--well after football. If we're going simply on wins and losses, then they're all three at 1-1 amongst each other and the only option is to look at strength of victories outside of the duals amongst themselves. Again, there's no way to say EMD is better than Reitz because we know what happened in the dual. But there's also no way to say Reitz is better than Castle...and no way to say Castle is better than EMD. So we go with the data we have available until the top team proves themselves in the tournament. Catfish: I explained a couple more things in a p.m. Thanks for your thoughtful posts.
  17. Oh, ok, I was thinking it was always the next-to-last weekend of the regular season; then I saw the super dual from yesterday that had 4 or 5 MIC schools and thought maybe there was no tournament. I just got confused. Thanks for the clarification.
  18. Is it just me, or has posting in the results section gotten a little scarce the past couple weeks? Also, what happened to the big MIC? Is there no MIC tournament anymore?
  19. Yes, Striggle beat Singer and Hostetler. Nice job with slotting, Y2. Schrock (#7 at 171) dropped to 160 and got pinned in the first period by Garcia (Goshen). All other ranked wrestlers won titles at Goshen except Kissinger (CC) at 112 lost to a Michigan kid and Gilbert (Whitko) didn't wrestle.
  20. Updated through January 17 now. Not much has changed. Decbell: I kept them in the same order (EMD, Castle, Reitz) because of quality of wins. Reitz may be the best of the 3, but we don't have enough to go on. EMD beat Merrillville and Bloomington South, Castle beat Bellmont and Penn, and Reitz's second-best victory is a 10-point win out of the Top 20. I gave you some more thoughts about slotting in a pm.
  21. 171 Robert Miller, Lawrence North, 12, 36-6 dec. Gill Journey, Perry Meridian, 12, 39-1, 7-5 Did Miller wrestle for Cathedral earlier in his career?
  22. I didn't realize McCutcheon had beaten Delphi. I just found another result in the "jumbled mess" division: Dwenger over Leo. This moves South Adams ahead of Leo and Dwenger ahead of Homestead. Don't ask why this has this effect; it just does. These teams all have wins and losses against each other.
  23. I completely agree--which is why I think Clark's junior year credentials at 112 coupled with his senior year destruction of everyone he faced should make him the clear #1 here. Again, Hartman was impressive and mostly dominant; but he wasn't like Clark.
  24. Must be on delay...I just read about it on a couple websites.
  25. Based on information for several regionals posted here and pm'd to me, I made a couple small changes. Keep the info. coming.
