  1. Wasn't M'Ville also tied for the most placers this year?
  2. I know this may not make up for it... but is there any way we can get him a match in the IN/IL all star duel. Either a exhibition or maybe one of the two others step aside and let him wrestle his final HS match. He deserves to go out on a high note and this may be a way to ease the pain a little.
  3. Agree to disagree and move on seems to be the best option. I want to say to everyone that I am in no way anti-McMurray as I feel he is a great wrestler and will great at the next level.
  4. We were talking about this exact thing in our seats...
  5. Johnny, Believe it or not, I was actually cheering for Sean to win again as I love me some REGION pride. Again I do not know Sean personally as you do, but the actions I, and others have seen, lead me to the conclusion that he needs to learn a thing or two about sportsmanship. Never did I say he was a bad person or that he has not done a lot for the sport because it is very clear that he has and that he deserves all of the championships and the praise that he has gotten. I only hope that the transition to the next level will teach him some humility and that he can be as humble a champion as we have had in the past.
  6. Tsirtsis -- Yes Phillips -- Tough to tell as he has won both at 103 (See Galka and Raley for examples) Ayersman -- At least one more in him... again at a lighter weight so anything can happen as he grows Raley -- Wouldn't call him a favorite, but could see it happening. Roach -- He will win another next year and I see many people ducking him. If Stein grows, it will be interesting to see him and Sliga next year
  7. Raise three fingers all you want, AFTER you get up off your opponent. I realize that you know him much better than I ever will, but from an outside perspective, this reflects very poorly on him. Maybe as someone on his inner circle, you cannot see how disrespectful these actions really are, even if he does not intend them to be. Just because someone does not intend to disrespect, does mean they do not need to consider the fact that they may do so. Think about the consequences of your actions before you act, and consider how you look, especially if you are representing your school.
  8. He wrote a ridiculous apology post on this board about a week before state basically saying everything you outlined above, only to distrspect yet ANOTHER opponent under the lights. He's a great wrestler, no doubt, but he has a thing or two to learn about sportsmanship
  9. I don't know him personally, nor do I know what it feels like to be a state champion, but I have seen these acts from him after winning matches of "lesser importance." If you can't judge someone from their actions, what can you judge them by?
  10. I saw many other champs, repeat and first timers, who were excited and overwhelmed but did not disrespect their opponent. Eric Roach is the perfect example, he was so excited that he leapt into the ams of his coach. Afterward he saught out his opponent and the opposing coaches to shake hands. He was just as excited to win a championship but showed class and grace.
  11. If everyone flaunted every accomplishment the way he did, the world would be a pretty awful place. As I said before, if he had waited until after the clock read zero and he was not laying on top of his opponent, there would be no problem. Celebrate, but do not humiliate someone else in the process.
  12. You can do that when you are a 3 time state champ AFTER the match. Do whatever you want after the match to celebrate, but show some class while the match is still taking place.
  13. Was it classy to hold up 3 fingers for the last 10 seconds of the match while in the top position...that's the reason hate on McMurray
  14. Congrats to Frakie Porras... Not only a 2 time state champion, but a mental attitude award winner as well.
  15. When in doubt...pick the merrillville wrestler?
  16. All of last years ended up on youtube. I bet the same thing will happen again this year.
  17. Bubba Balash from Hobart could compete in this class as well...
  18. Cam Brady did not win Al Smith...won Semi State. Same with Ayersman
  19. That was done when Petrov was more "under the radar" than he is now.
