  1. If broadcastsport is correct... Surma (Munster) was pinned
  2. Ya know, my computer is about 7 years old, and I think it may be time to get a new one. Drooke you may have just inspired me to make a purchase I probably have no business making.
  3. They are probably talking about them because in regionals they defeated the powerhouse that is Mater Dei. Even if Mater Dei is having a down year, and by down year I mean they are not dominatng everyone in the state, this is still a phenomenal accomplishment. Castle may not win state, they probably won't, but being there for a school in the southern part of the state is quite an accomplishment. Here's to hoping everyone there wrestles hard and the best team wins, which as much as it pains me to say it, will probably be Mishawaka.
  4. I love to ice fish too... ever check out iceshanty.com... it is the equilivent to this site about ice fishing. All those who said M'ville will be great wrestling around is absolutly right. After work I will be there and glued to the action. Even though I am a little bias, I am sure there will be great wrestling all throughout the state tomorrow...even at Ft. Wayne (just kidding Y2) Honestly my favorite chips are the salt and vinegar ones. Not much for the spicey stuff (guess I am a wuss). I am currently engaged and I actually have the wife interested enough to come to the Ville tomorrow to watch the meet with me (with the promise of a romantic evening to follow). Well that is enough rambling... I am glad I got enough people to stop talking about class wrestling and realize what is important tomorrow. Ice fishing, chips (doritos and cheetos) and Wrestling. No matter if it is classed or classless, (in the sense of no classes, no eye gouging please) that seems to be the one thing we all have in common and that we can all agree on. Anyone who goes to state, i may buy a round to bury the hatchet. Bash513
  5. Speaking of M'Vill SS, which match is everyone looking forward to the most? Personally for me it is Harper v. Porras Should be a tough one for both. I know Harper has been banged up but Frank will have to bring his A game if he wants to win. I think both will wrestle their hearts out and this will be a great match.
  6. Doritios are much better than cheetos. The texture of cheetos (especially the puffy ones) weirds me out.
  7. Not necessarily anyone specific, I just noticed that many of our guys have a tough time both holding people down and escaping from the bottom position. I think Dingo provided a good explanation about the parity of the sport within our state and maybe the answer is to wrestle more with some of our neighbors (Ohio, Illinois, and Michigan) so that the competition level increases. Not sure how realistic that is on the HS team level but could be done by some individuals in the offseason.
  8. Because it seems like 4 out of 5 topics on this board turn into a discussion about class wrestling, I wanted to make a topic that wasn't about it. This is the anything but class wrestling topic. Feel free to talk about shaved ice, your dark horse pick at state, your favorite singlet (Anderson Highland finals), or ask questions to TAE about things that happened over 100 years ago but do not discuss class wrestling. I'll start; after watching much of the College Wrestling on the BTN, I have noticed that many of the men wrestling from Indiana have a tough time wrestling on the mat. Do you think this is a product of the cut and takedown method used to score high team points? Is this something we should try to avoid doing in the future so our wrestlers are better able to handle the next level? Feel free to answer this or really say anything you want about anything other than class wrestling. Disclamer: Anyone talking about class wrestling on this thread will be boo'd.
  9. Isn't it true that they can broadcast the events live but cannot make the video available in their archives. I believe that this for the most part eliminates the concern of scouting. Maybe Y2 can verify this for me.
  10. I am not sure who is on whose side here but just for informational purposes Porras is a DB on the football team.
  11. I am pretty sure Hobart got 6 through unless one got injured and an alternate replaced him. 125 130 135 152 171 215
  12. I disagree. The NCAA uses an "S curve," meaning it ranks all 65 teams in order 1-65, then places them in regions under the theory the top No. 1 seed would have the worst No. 2 seed in its bracket, the worst No. 1 seed would have the top No. 2 seed, etc. The balancing of the regions is the most important factor in seeding the tournament. As far as other rules go, teams from the same conference hopefully won't meet until a regional final, but the NCAA has relaxed that because some conferences have six and seven bids (it's even permissible for an intraconference matchup in the second round, though that is to be avoided whenever possible). But the first three teams selected from a given conference must be in different regions. Higher-seeded teams should be placed as close to home as possible. No team may play on its home floor, but most sites are "neutral courts" anyway. Teams can move up or down a spot or two in the "S-curve," maybe even a seed, to preserve other principles.
  13. Could you imagine the seeding meeting??? That's hilarious
  14. You can't compare this to football because of the geographic restrictions. There are a lot more participants to travel and they are limited by these restrictions. If you are going to bring 8 teams to the finals (not just 2 like in football) then you can definatly seed them based on record, common opponents, last year's results, etc. Its not like this would be terribly difficult. I see no drawback to doing it.
  15. I posted this on another thread but felt it was also appropriate here: With Sandafer losing last week and Harper being beaten a couple times this year, I think it is impossible to call any match this year a "lock." There are no wreslters this year who are like Andrew Howe were last year. Even Cashe has had some close matches and it would not shock me to see him lose somewhere down the road. It would surprise me but with the talent in the state at the level it is, I am not sure anything would shock me. That said, it is likely between Harper and Porras that 130 will come from Merrillville. Same goes for Roach and Dillon. Other than these two weight classes (maybe 189) it appears that the champ could come from multiple semi-states. Likely that M-Ville will have the most champs and placers (I hope) but the original post is just dumb.

  17. I believe the draw is done in advance of the state series even beginning. I do not have any "data" or know exactly how they do the draw but just looking at the probability of drawing the same regional (or semi-state in the past) would be 1/7 each year regardless of the year prior. So the likeliness to draw the same regional two years in a row is 1/7 * 1/7 or 1/49. Three years in a row 1/343. I dont even know if this is what you wanted to hear but if you are hinting that there is some sort of conspiricy i would guess there is probably not.
  18. Mishawaka has already beaten CP once. If CP is going to win they will have to score some MAJOR bonus points with their studs and pull of an upset or two. Mishawaka is tough and I can't see anyone hanging with them this year.
  19. Yet another reason we need to have full wrestlebacks...
  20. No word from Coach Wadkins on the Calumet brackets???
  21. Jon Felty Graduated from Hobart in 2001 and used a moved coined the "Felty Switch" He would give an opponant his front leg on a shot then reach inside and switch them while facing them. I know this sounds strange but it worked for him
