Look around, you see this alot in the wrestling and football world where physical maturity gives you a big advantage. My oldest son is a freshman in college and is younger than many high school seniors out there competing right now. It amazes me that this isnt talked about more than it is. Did you ever notice in the wrestling world that nobody ever gives the age of their wrestler, only their grade? You see this alot in the middle school world, muscular, physically mature, hairy kids wrestling little boys. The parents are always beaming in the crowd as their 15 year old 8th grader is beating on a 13, 14 or even a 12 year old. Unfortunately thats the nature of our sport, people are willing to do whatever thay can to make sure their kid is THE MAN. -
Wrestlers dropping a Weight class for sectionals?

Why would this be a good move? Unless he cant stay down at 160 I'd say his semistate @ 171 is easily just as tough if not tougher than 160. -

It says he came from a weight class where they know how to wrestle. Sorry but the bigger weights are very thin when it comes wrestling ability. Alot of people should move up where the quality is lacking.

Does anyone have information on where to find tournaments for frosh/soph division redshirts? Found some open tournaments on intermat but its hard to find if they have frosh/soph brackets.

Yeah I never could figure why the states middle schools do not get on the same program. The whole ISWA season sets up better for the region schools.

What is Y2's main point? He seems to be troubled at the fact that Team should be classed and individual should be left alone. I agree Team should be classed, but what we should be afraid of is is they let us class Team a bunch of people will use it as leverage to cry about individual state. Which should NEVER be classed.

When I first started following high school wrestling, our school had a great run and reached the team tournament at CG. I was blown away by the excitement of the day I spent there. I've followed many sports and can honestly say it is the best one day event high school can offer IMO . I also love the individual finals but honestly it misses that "us against them" attitude. I know not all teams will get to team state, but why not fight to keep team state alive and get your program to that level as Coach Tonte and Snyder have done. If needed class team but under NO circumstances class individual.
