  1. He took sophomore Dexter for a ride...but no one in the nation could top senior Dexter.
  2. Conference Indiana had 11 (8 from Perry Meridian and 3 from Bloomington South) which is about 10%.
  3. And 189 pound champ Nathan Moore beat both of them. Nate beat Jake at the Capital City Classic and in the Marion County finals. He then bumped up the first round of team state and defeated Buhman of Portage. The end of that year kind of sucked for Buhman. He was the 2nd best 215-pounder that year, but because of Jake's illness at semi state and taking 4th, Buhman got the bad draw Friday night and then turned around the next weekend to face Moore. Undefeated, then 2 loses to 2 state champions.
  4. I have not checked, but this year could be a record for best combined record for the state champions. 12 of the 14 were undefeated, with the other 2 having 1 loss (McKinley to Malloy) and 2 losses (Kral to Gallegos and Robinson). Very impressive season for our champions. The overall record was 652-3 which is a 99.54% winning percentage. WOW!
  5. As I stated, both Kirk and the entire PM team had a state championship as the ultimate goal. My point was that calling a 3rd place finisher the tournament's biggest disappointment was simply over the top.
  6. Line them up and he would have thrown them all. 177-0 with what, 155 falls? He didn't just catch them all!
  7. Not being sensitive...its just that there were 112 wrestlers who lost on Friday night, another 56 who lost in the quarter finals and 27 others who lost in the semi finals. 14 of those that lost in the quarter finals lost 2 more matches (8th place winners) and the 14 4th place winners, 6th place winners and 7th place winners were 2-2. The 3rd and 5th place winners were each 3-1. It just seemed a bit of a stretch to say that a guy whose only 3 losses on the year are to the state champion (twice) and the state runner-up is the least impressive guy in the entire tournament. Did Kirk finish where he or anyone else at PM wanted him to...no. But he did improve his placement from the past 2 years and that is not all bad.
  8. So out of 224 wrestlers who competed in the state finals, you were least impressed with a guy who got 3rd? OK, I guess everyone is entitled to their opinion.
  9. It depends on who must report first at 145. If it is Crown Point and they have Tsirtsis at 145, then I can see Haas at 145, then Cathedral bumps Corsaro to 152, Gillum to 160, Harvey to 170, Willis to 182 and have the best among White and their 2 195-pounders wrestle at 195. If Cathedral has to report first, then the line ups may stay as indicated.
  10. Yes, Boris and Vladimir are both excellent FS and Greco wrestlers. They are twins and will be sophomores next year and will either be at 182 and 195 or possibly 195 and 220. They will fit in nicely.
  11. I would have to say that the Penn/Cathedral match will be the most competitive. Both are obviously very tough, but I think the Irish move on to face Crown Point.
  12. 182 Martin finished 4th and is graduating
  13. I don't think anyone is really saying that any team has even approached that 2003 Mater Dei team. I would say that this Perry Meridian team stacks up well against the 2009 Mishawaka team or any other in recent memory.
  14. I wouldn't count out Mishawaka against Pe...oh wait...never mind
  15. I know it is in Carmel, but Bub's Burgers was also on Man vs Food...home of the Big Nasty 1 pound Elk burger...so tasty!
  16. I wouldn't count out Cathedral against Crown Point.
  17. Welch even has a heck of a Friday night match.
  18. DJ pinned everyone his senior year except Ian Spearman from Southport in the Seymour Semi State finals. I think that match was 4-3 in favor of DJ.
  19. Conference Indiana has 17 state qualifiers including 8 semi state champions. Perry Meridian has 9 qualifiers including 5 SS champs (New Castle) Bloomington South has 5 qualifiers including 2 SS champs (Evansville) Pike has 1 qualifier who is a SS champ (New Castle) Franklin Central has 1 qualifier (New Castle) Lawrence Central has 1 qualifier (New Castle)
  20. Donte Winfield was JV behind Jordan Naughton last year and is now a semi state champ and state qualifier.
  21. Got to love the Bloomington South Superman S singlets.
  22. I know this goes back to the early 90s, but I still have to go with Gil Journey. He was 3rd as a sophomore and 2nd as both a junior and senior.
  23. Here is a breakdown of state qualifiers and semi state champions from the New Castle Semi State: By Regional: Qualifiers/Champions Perry Meridian: 21/7 Pendleton Heights: 15/4 North Montgomery: 11/2 Richmond: 9/1 By Sectional: Qualifiers/Champions Lawrence Central: 12/3 Washington: 11/6 Shelbyville: 10/1 Zionsville: 8/2 Franklin County: 5/0 Tri: 4/1 Crawfordsville: 3/0 Hamilton Heights: 3/1
