  1. I am curious to know if any of the teams have been in school, and able to have practice this week. That might be as big a story as anything else this week. Warren has been out for both wednesday and thursday. We have not heard about friday yet.
  2. Well, you know with the weather and everything causing schools to close and trying to figure out the timing of practice, time might be really streched for these coaches more so then with the rest of the state. ;D
  3. We all make mistakes, the great thing about this board is that you can go back and modify your post and change the wording.
  4. Heres to hoping that this freshman that you are "stuck with" does not read the boards and sees what kind of support he is getting from the other team parents. I am hoping that this was just a misstatement on your part.
  5. http://indianamat.com/messageboard/index.php/topic,2239.0.html The weight issue is discussed here in the ask the official section.
  6. BG is greatly improved this year, and while I dont see them contending for a title this year, next year they will be one of the favorites for the team title. Actually I see this year coming down to New Pal, and Roncolli, with Warren and Beech Grove battling it out for 3rd and 4th. That is the great thing about this sport, an upset here or there changes the entire picture, and you get a few kids hot in the wrestle backs, that score alot of team points for you and anything is possible. Should BG win it this year, I will be among the 1st to congratulate them and tell them good luck the rest of the way. I am looking forward to seeing some great matches this weekend. Good luck to all teams, and individules involved.
  7. I guess the coaches at these 6 sectionals are just busier then the coaches at the other 26 sectionals that found some time to get the brackets in so the rest of the state could take a look at what was going on in their area.
  8. ok...a call to the President might not make a difference.....but he is all about change! maybe we need to send him some tickets to the State Finals....he'd change his mind real quick.... which is the better sport! lol Wrestling is the only sport, the rest are just games. But it would be interesting to see what his reaction would be to recieving an invite to the finals of a state that helped put him in office. Y2, you wanna take care of that, since it looks like you wont be getting the other sectional brackets to post. I figure you might have some time on your hands. ;D
  9. It would not help to call the President, he is a basketball fan ;D
  10. The only advantage that there could be is that by not releasing them, they keep the board from discussing the seeds like they do with other sectionals. I dont get it, but there can be no other reason for it.
  11. Congrats Josh, hard work pays off in many forms. Getting the cover is a great.
  12. Hmm, I would have guessed a more eastern compass point for one of the coaches.
  13. This year at Warren Central we held the middle school jamboree at the high scool in the field house. We had the teams in, they got to go up into the wrestling room and the varsity guys took them around, showed them the names on the wall, what you had to do to get your name on each board. Wlaked them through the locker room, basically gave them a grand tour of the facilities. Some of the kids have been in the room, others have not. From talking to the kids on the sidelines, it was a great night for them, and since this is where they hold the dual meets for the high school, it gave them a sense of what to expect there. Also during the Christmas break, the high school team opens its practice to the middle school kids wanting to get a taste of what it takes at the next level if they want to be there.
  14. They do not wrestle for a true second in Fargo for either cadet, or junior. The typical weight class will have around 100 kids, they split them into 2 pools, and wrestle for placement in each pool. Then they do a cross bracket, where 1st from the top pool wrestles 1st from the bottom pool for 1st and 2nd overall, 2nd vs. 2nd for 3rd and 4th respectively, they do this through for 8th place. No true placement matches. It is basically a blind draw, with seperation only for a few kids in each weight, which is determined by returning All-American, or placer at FILA cadet. There might be 1 or 2 other criteria used but otherwise it is blind.
  15. Remember, this has to be fun for the kids, or they will not stick with it long. Winning is important, and they need to have some level of success, but parents need to make sure they measure that success in progress, not just wins and losses. Not every kid is going to be a stud, and sometimes getting into the second period, or scoring offensive points is an improvment, and needs to be acknowledged as such. The other thing I would say to you parents, make sure that you have fun as well. You are going to meet some great people through your son or daughters wrestling. Some of the people I talk to more then anyone are from the wrestling community. Another thing I would suggest, you are going to be spending alot of quality time with your kids on the way to and from wrestling events, make sure that wrestling is not the only thing that you talk about during these trips. Your child is on the path to being an adult, and they are facing several issues, that dont involve wrestling and you can discuss these on the road. Most importantly is to relax, have fun, and rememeber it is just a sport, it keeps them off the streets, and allowes you to know where they are most of the time. You dont want to be the parent that all the refs and table help knows for the wrong resons. In the end, if you keep it fun for them, they will learn lessons that they take with them their entire life.
  16. This was actually "suggested" by a young coach at the Marion County Tournament seeding meeting about 8 or 9 years ago. I won't mention the two coaches involved. One has matured and the other has retired. Good times though! Come on, ya gotta give us more info then that.....I can hazzard a guess, but it would only be that.
  17. I cant make it up, but it is already bookmarked on the tv, so I will be watching.
  18. Not to mention that Noblesville has Michael Lovitt back from Florida. This kid is a beast and will make alot of noise at this weight as well.
  19. I found my own answer in another thread. Nevermind. littlevito Moderator Semi-State Qualifier Cool Points: 2 [wahoo] [boo] Location: Decatur, IN/Ft. Wayne, IN Posts: 227 I just said that... Re: Practice this week ? Reply #12 on: Today at 09:42:37 AM ? Quote -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Quote from: STARSMAN on Today at 12:40:08 AM We arent going to be able to get on the mats until thursday atleast...and the AD isnt budging. Well i have a question, i know that they redid the weather cancellation and weight allowance section in the rules, so is there anything that says how much weight is given for the week of cancellations or the day before. Is there any weight that is going to be given? There is only a 1 lb. allowance if one team is unable to practice the DAY BEFORE a competition. And the Coach or AD must notify the host school's AD or Coach to let them know that they were unable to practice and that the 1 lb. allowance is in effect. It does not matter if the whole week is cancelled, just the day before the competition. So therefore this week the only practice that matters to the rule is Friday's practice. 20. So if only one school in the sectional cant get to school and hold a practice the entire sectional gets the extra 1 lb. weight adjustment, since it would not be fair to give it to one team and not the rest?

  23. I am guessing they still cashed the check though.
  24. This is what I call class wrestling. Nice job to everyone involved in making this happen for this young man.
  25. I am just curious how many of these administrators would cancel practice the week before sectionals for basketball and or football. The coach had to argue for it yesterday here. In the end they decided to allow the wrestling team hold the practice.
