  1. At NC SS the following should be much anticipated 1st round matches.*** A disclaimer ***, after the 140 weight class I get a little fuzzy on the kids involved, and the match ups are based on records mostly. Also this is not intended to say that these are the only matches that are highly anticipated, just the ones I will be intently looking to see for a variety of reasons. From either a personal, or a quality of wrestling reason. 103 Phillips NC vs Boston LN 112 Hill Pike vs Stewart Rushville Mullins NC vs Clem PM 119 Cosby Tech vs Duncan BG 125 Fellers NC vs Grey Cath. Clark So. De. vs Logan HH 130 Fellers NC vs Dicket Ron. Beattie WeBo vs Stringfield Cath. Franklin LC vs. Morris Car. Odom WC vs Hoegeman EC 135 Mascaro Car. vs Pearson NP 140 Tonte PM vs Bowers HH Butts LC vs Decker WC 145 Sease Z vs Presley EC 152 Markum NC vs Jennings NP 160 Willis Cath. vs Hamm Shen. 171 Imfeld EC vs Moats Tip. 189 Johnson-Jones WC vs Melby WF Hodges SM vs Hosea Pike 215 Parsley WF vs Statt Fr. Co. 285 Taylor BD vs Poole Shen.
  2. While I agree it is mat time for the kids, and who can argue about getting more mat time. It is not one or two matches, it is 56 matches total. There is no way this will ever get past the IHSAA, we cant get them to agree to wrestlebacks for true placement, no way that they allow this for an alternate. I do like the idea of the highest placing kid from a sectional getting the nod, as I know there were a few sectional champs that were beat in the 1st round saturday.
  3. Wahoo for you, you are a man that gets it. All to often people come on here while they are still upset about a close loss, or a bad call and vent. Not realizing their words have power, and more so to the teenager that will be reading those comments that are aimed at him.
  4. Then why do we advance anyone but the champion? That is what the IHSAA would contend as well. I am sure there are at least a few examples that TAE could give to demonstrate a state champion that did not finish first at semi-state. I know of one, I know there are more. A few years back, Danny Williams of Warren Central injured his ankle late in the season. He was unable to compete the way he wanted to all the way through the tourney. He would get to the match that moved him on in the tourney and then FF. he ended up a 4th place out of SS and won at 140 that year.
  5. I would say the overall state of wrestling here in the state has increased over the past few years. We now have more outside wrestling schools then ever before, i.e. CIA, Team Champion, Red Cobra, and the like. That has to do nothing but help our wrestlers get better. Do we have as many guys like Escebedo, Tsirtsis, Mauer, Howe and some of the other greats of the past few years, no, but those were exceptional wresters for any era. All in all, the entire state is being lifted up. You can see that by the number of kids we have that move onto the next level. If you look at an overall ability you will see an increase in talent level. As far as the current year, we have some boys wrestling now that would hold thier own against any era, any of you want to bet against Quiroga, or Wright, or Harper ?
  6. Make it 2 days then, problem fixed. It is set up on two days now. We call the 1st day sectionals, and we call the 2nd day regionals. Problem fixed.
  7. Combining sectional and regionals would make a very long sectional day that much longer. We were not done until 6:30 at Warren, and I know a few of the other sites were much later. And if you had a full bracket, you would exceed the 5 match per day limit.
  8. My bad, I corrected it. Thanks
  9. not sure about the qualifiers, but here is who I think will win it. 103- Phillips UC 112- Nelsen LN 119- Wright Cath 125- Quiroga LN 130- Spencer P 135- Mascaro Car 140- McGinely Cath 145- Bennett AH 152- Sullivan Cath 160- Todd Pend 171- Duckworth UC 189- Johnson-Jones WC 215- Berry WC 285- Cuevas NC
  10. At Perry Meridian the break down was as follows. qualifiers Warren 32 Decatur 24 1st place DC 8 WC 6 2nd place DC 5 WC 9 3rd place DC 6 WC 8 4th place DC 4 WC 10
  11. What, and tip my hand in the upcoming SS pick em contest?
  12. Disco, I am sorry your regional was not what it was supposed to be. Being from Warren Central, there is a natural and fun dislike of anything that is Perry Meridian, but I have to give the staff down there the recognition they deserve. Perry knows how to host an event, and things always run smooth, and they do a great job of keeping people informed of what is going on. Congrats to the Perry staff for putting on another great event. The only complaint heard all day was about the heat, but who knew it was going to be 50 degrees on regional saturday in Indiana.
  13. Wow, looking over the brackets, we are going to be treated to some outstanding wrestling next saturday. Quite a few good kids have been locked up against each other in the 1st round, with the potential of some really outstanding ticket round matches. It promises to be a great day of wrestling. Good luck to everyone involved.
  14. I think I would be a bit more concerned if someone was spying on me in my bathroom. ;D ;D
  15. Folks, what is going on in your minds, this is a yopung man that has made a mistake. One that anyone of us could have made during our youth. I do not know what he did, and I dont care. He made a mistake and now has to pay a higher price then he thought he would have to pay. We as fans of the sport do not need to continually ask what he did, that is for his parents, the school, his team, and any other officials to know about. Could someone tell me why it is anyone elses business? Mr. Beck is a good kid that did something stupid, hav'nt we all. It is fair to wonder how this will affect the team, it is fair to debate that topic, it has a wrestling impact. To debate anything else is just not right, and needs to stop. naco228 you have no reason to come on here and stating anything about what is going on with Mr. Beck, and any legal, or school problems he has.

    UPSETS!

I would say 119 at New Castle is as tough as anyone would want also, but that is just one mans opinion. Justin Kieffer - Roncalli Brandon Wright - Cathedral Seve Duncan - Beech Grove Storm Cosby - Tech Camden Eppert - Anderson Highland Jake McCarthy - Mount Vernon
  17. Until you get married mistakes usually are. After that, mistakes cost you atleast roses.
  18. Y2, check 189 at NC, I am not sure you have Johnson-Jones from WC in the right spot. He was the champ today and it looks like you have him against a 3rd place kid. I might be wrong, and it would not be the 1st time for that either, and since I have a wife, I wont need others pointing it out for me. BTW, great site, and great work on everything on it so far.
  19. 4-3 on an escape with about 20-30 seconds left in the 3rd.
  20. The coaches have them as soom as the last match is wrestled. Sometimes a bit sooner. Each weight class is drawn differently. Each regional is assigned a number, and the top 4 placers are given an ABC or D depending on their placement. A=1 B=2 C=3 D=4. I know Perry Meridian regional is 3.
  21. Wow, this is a very tough regional. I never knew that CP, Bellmont, Perry, Cathedral, Mishawka and Roncalli were feeding into the same one. This has to be a new change this year. Sounds like this could be some great matchups for maybe a team state competition instead of regional matchups like the topic suggests. ;D
  22. Unless he misses weight and weighs in at 121.1 then he is able to go upto 130 if he chooses. I dont see that happening, but it is possible.
  23. who was at fault? From the sound of it, there are 3 people that could be at fault here. 1- the ref for not calling it if it was in fact a fall, 2- Estrada for not getting the fall when he had the chance, 3- McMurray for allowing himself to get caught in a position to give up the fall ;D
  24. Not knowing the situation, I have no way of knowing what took place to get this thread started, so I will not speak to any specifics about that. This is just an observance from past meets that I have been involved in. The fans want the opposing coach hit everytime they step to the table because he/they are whining. If it is their coach that is going to the table, they are fine with it, because the coach is fighting for their kids. Here in central Indiana, we have a few coaches that are very good at working the refs, and some that are not. Are the coaches that work the refs obnoxious, yes, do those coaches go over the line, yes, should the refs hit them with a team point, again yes, but only if you are not part of that team would you feel this way.
