  1. Dont think the IHSAA would ever sanction it, however there is nothing that says the coaches association could not do it. If you can find someone to actually run it, and get the coaches behind it, you might have something.
  2. Ok, I stand corrected, 10 topics on class wrestling, and 5 topics on the Metcalf meltdown. Not a whole lot to talk about these days / Don't look like alot of seniors are going to da senior nationals/ things will pick up around Fargo time. I was gone for a whole week - had some mitty fine weather down in Clearwater Beach. Had oppertunity to go to da original Hooters. Dare wings are a whole lot better lookin down dare dan in Merryville. Had to use SPF 50 on da ole tale after a day. Got a little red down dare !!! Well, maybe talking about class wrestling aint so bad after all. I mean if the choice is class wrestling, or the sun burn da rat gets on his behind, I think I willl have to go with class wrestling........ ;D
  3. I think everyone ought to wrestle with class. Just my 2 cents worth.. however with the state of the economy, I might be needing those pennies back soon.
  4. Ok, I stand corrected, 10 topics on class wrestling, and 5 topics on the Metcalf meltdown.
  5. Let us not forget, this is a young man that makes young man mistakes. If we the American public can forgive some of the crap that has gone on in the professional sports ranks and still flock to the stadiums, I think we ought to find it in our hearts to forgive a true champion for reacting poorly in an intense situation.
  6. To say that it deserves some attention is an understatement. Looking at this board, it seems that we have close to 10 topics that somewhere along the line deal with class wrestling. And that is just one the 1st page.
  7. Just looking through the discussions, and I realized that this board is missing something. We dont have enough topics that touch on class wrestling. I dont have a vote with in the coaches assoc. But it is clear to anyone that reads this board that one topic that they ought to conduct some serious research on is class wrestling. I think that all the candidates for the open position ought to realize that this is a hot button topic and needs some attention.
  8. No way that the IHSAA sanctions a "JV State", but that does not mean that the coaches assoc. or some other body could not have an unofficial JV State. I like the idea, and agree that if there was something for the kids on the jv squad to point to at the end of the year it would help motivate them, and could actually help them when it is thier time to shine as a varsity wrestler.
  9. It is too much to ask for, like Y2 said, I dont see the IHSAA going out of thier way to help wrestling. BTW Y2, I thought wrestling was a team sport?
  10. All of the schools IE CIA, Red Cobra, and Team Champion will have camps. I know that Ken Chertow has had camps the last few years, not sure if they allow commuting to them or not. Go to his web site for the details on that. The best place to find is to ask your club coach, or high school coach. I am sure they get bombarded with info for camps and clinics.
  11. Just a question to see where it goes. If we institute class wrestling, and we start sending more kids to the DI level, how will that affect the DII and D III schools that we have in the state. My hypothisis is that since we are sending only a few of the studs to the DI programs, the majority of the other kids that would presumably be going to the DI schools in a class system, are the same kids that are populating the rosters of Wabash, Manchester, Trine, U of Indianapolis. My assumption is that if these kids were good enough to go DI, the coaches would know that, and recruit them anyway. So we send more kids to populate the practice squad at more DI schools. It is a fairly safe assumption that they will not be varsity, since they are not being recruited heavily, atleast for the 1st 2-3 years. We will then in fact hurt the DII and DIII programs that we have in state that are preforming at a high level nationally, and are accepting our states high schools wrestlers and allowing them a place to wrestle that is usually much closer to home, and offers them an outstanding education in the process.
  12. Somehow, I knew you would have the data right at your fingertips.......
  13. Y2, you are in favor of class wrestling, I get that, and I understand your arguements. I dont agree with all of them, but I understand them. So for the sake of arguement, lets assume that we go to 2 or 3 classes. Right now, you state that you get about 16 matches per year against schools that would be in a different class then you are in. If we have class wrestling, what would be the benefit to the large schools to ever wrestle against a small school. What you will see are schools scheduling tourney's against schools more there size. It wont happen over night, but eventually, unless the small school is like EMD, no large school is going to go out of thier way to put them on the schedule. They will however go out of thier way to make sure they go to tournaments that will feature kids in thier class. So the entire season will for the most part be divided, and you wont get near as many chances to wrestle against the large schools.
  14. The mega schools being referred to are the huge enrollment schools largely in the Indy metro area. I would think that schools like Warren, Carmel, Ben Davis, North Central will always count as mega schools, with both Lawrence North, and Central right behind, and Pike not far behind them. These schools will always be over 2000 students, with WC Car. and BD and NC up around 4000 per year. It is these schools that tend to skew the data as far as the per school mean average. I would think the median average for all semi-states would be much closer. And no, I dont care to do the recearch to prove that.
  15. They ask for a shirt but I didnt think they were cool enough to get one. That would be the definition of irony....trying to toss kids out of the event for not wearing a shirt, and then asking for a shirt themselves..... ;D
  16. Well, my wife says that I am very good at taking arguements to the ridicules levels, so there ya go. Not to diminish the effect of team and coaches, and parents on how far a wreslter is able to go. If they dont have it in them, not amount of the other is gonna get them there. Everything anyoone does is a result of the individule. They must have the drive, determination, ability to compete at that level. All of that must be in place before the rest of this has any chance of actually helping.
  17. With this logic, then there are absolutely no individule sports. Every sport, or endeavor is a team project. So with this logic, why do we ever have any individule awards. I dont care if it is wrestling, golf, swimming, spelling, math bowl, chess, going to the bathroom, walking. With the exception of breating, and a few other bodily functions that are controlled automatically nothing we ever do is a result of individule, only the team. Oh wait, if it were not for parents, then the possibility of breathing and the other bodily functions would not be possible. So the next time you take a breath, or your heart beats, thank your team........
  18. Chris, I have to ask, did you give the security guards "ProPower" shirts?
  19. Ed Pendoski at CIA teaches alot of legs. Some of his wrestlers have had some great success with them. Eppert, Berryman, Odom to name a few.
  20. JD, do they have associate membership. I am not a coach at a high school, but I do care about the sport of wrestling. Let me know if there is anything I can do as a supporter of high school wrestling through the IHSWCA.
  21. Generally that info is not released until later in the year. I think it comes out just before the bid meeting in August.
  22. WOW, Wahoo for you, I cant plan out my next month, and you are already planning ahead for next year. You are one organized guy.
  23. OK, if every dog has his day, and an elephant never forgets, what is the square root of 38754?
  24. Why were you suprised by the cross on Roncalli's singlet? It is a Catholic school. I think everyone sending their kids there either agree with it, or at the very least dont oppose it.
