  1. Dingo , You make a good point about the physical size at the upper wts. But has Sliga wrestled a ranked wrestler nationally? He could have I am just unaware of this. If not mainly he is beating kids his own age and size on the national level, which he is dominating. Y2, You are right that Sliga has another year of cadet. But if jason would have waited one more year and not wrestled as a Cadet between 8th and Freshman year he would have been a Cadet last year?? He could have been a Cadet just like Sliga, correct? Between 9th and 10th and 10th and 11th? I guess I always just assumed Jason entered Cadets one year early, I could be wrong on this though. I guess Tsirtsis has had many more opportunities to beat nationally ranked kids as well. Maybe when Sliga gets the chance he will as well. Again great to have a debate like this, both are studs and it is fun to talk about.
  2. Dingo I disagree with you on wt class. 130-152 lbs are the deepest and toughest wt classes IMO. Tsirtsis Credentials Junior Freestyle Junior 135 3rd Lost to Ormsbee USAW Central Reg-PW/ Junior 135 1st ASICS FILA Jr. Natio FILA Jr. 4th Beat about 2 or 3 college wrestlers including Sam White. Lost to Dardanes and Rupp. Placed ahead of Ramos and many other studs FILA Cadet Nationals FILA Cadet & 1st 2009 USAW Cadet FreeCadet 130 2nd lost to Cooper FILA Cadet Freestyle FILA Cadet 1st ASICS USAW Jr./Cad. Cadet 130 1st Flonational 1st Super 32 2nd both years (lost to Cagnina as Soph) Undefeated both years at scholastic duals and was OW last year Two time state Champ beating Quiorga his Freshman year. Nobody thought that was going to happen. Sliga and Tsirtsis are one year apart so it is not that big of a difference. I am not taking anything away from Sliga because he is a stud, but his credentials do not compare with Jason's. I am not aware of Sliga's major victory's over nationally ranked kids? Who are some? Tsirtsis has continued to beat kids 2-3 years older than him that are nationally ranked. Maybe Sliga will be right there with him but he does not enter the big tournaments besides Scholastic Duals and Cadet Nationals. Maybe this is due to Football, but right now Tsirtsis has better credentials. Sliga may some day but not right now. Just my opinion, both are outstanding wrestlers and glad they represent Indiana. And yes Tsirtsis did lose to Napules his Freshman year.
  3. My top 8 in this order. 1. Tsirtsis, 2. Sliga 3. Roach 4. Raley 5. Phillips 6. Jackson 7. Chad Welch 8. Doug Welch I think Tsirtsis wins pretty handily if they are all the same weight. He is this best pound for pound IMO. Indiana not only has some studs this year, but they are starting to get depth as well.
  4. That is horrible news. Watching the video it did not look that bad, I would have never thought out for 6 months. Tough break. Too bad for wrestling as well... Howe vs. Burroughs I, II, III would have been fun. Hopefully he can overcome this and be back and better. Too bad he losses a year of winning a national championship. Could have went down as one of the best 2,1,1,1 and not redshirting. That sucks. Been following his career for a while and never remember him being injured at any point.
  5. Dunefan, Who wrestled at 135 for Crown Point? Fuqua or Blue? Is Fuqua hurt? What was the reasoning for the fft at 215? I would have thought Kral and Berry would have been a great match. Crown Point sounds like they already had the dual won why did they fft 215? Kral has beaten Berry in the past. Seemed like CP dominated the dual the only close matches by score went Merr way.
  6. Coughlin- I think you are right. I think his senior year he was number one in a few rankings.
  7. http://intermatwrestle.com/rankings/high_school/140 Tsirtsis number one in the nation How many #1's has the state of indiana had? Alex seemed to always be behind Schlatter or Metcalf. Howe behind Welch and Winston. Maybe Angel or Dexter Larimore. Humphrey was always top 5.
  8. Did not realize Ehr beat Mullins. Any details on this match? This seemed to be a big upset. I am sure it got talked about when it happened but I did not hear anything on it.
  9. I think Tsirtsis will be at 140, I don't think he would have went to Super 32 at 140 if he was not planning on wrestling at140. Any details on the Tsirtsis match against Wartman? Was there backpoints involved? Was Wartman close to any takedowns? But if he does go 135 -Raley, Jackson and Tsirtsis would be pretty fun to watch.
  10. Did this match happen tonight? If so what was the score? Thanks Also any results on the dual
  11. What was the score of the Bowman/Roach match? Did Bowman get any takedowns?
  12. What was the score of the Tsirtsis Match?
  13. 135 is insane. This wt is stacked. #1 Sr. Austin Ormsbee, Blair (2) #2 Jr. Steve Spearman, Erie McDowell (5) #3 Sr. Hunter Stieber, Monroeville (1) #6 Jr. Nate Skonieczny, Walsh Jesuit (4) #8 Fr. Bryce Brill, Marmion (13) #14 Sr. Chris Mecate, Redlands Valley East (7) #15 Jr. Chase Ferman, Broken Arrow (3) HM Jr. Case Garrison, SPG (6) HM Jr. Willie Fox, Gilroy Sr. Adam Mathews, Reynolds (12) Jr. Tyler Zymroz, PCC
  14. I wish Jackson would go 140, would like to see it again. But really Tsirtsis and Jackson have been at two national tournaments in the same wt class (Flo and Super 32). Tsirtsis was first at Flo and Jackson 8th. Tsirtsis 2nd at Super 32 and Jackson DNP. Jackson gave him a good match last year but I think Tsirtsis wins the rematch 6-2 or 7-1. I am a bit surprised Jackson is not going 140. Tsirtsis and Roach would probably be a good match, most likely this match won't happen . Tsirtsis is the best pound for pound wrestler in Indiana, he proved this by beating Quiroga when he was Freshman. He also wrestles every national tournament. He will be fun to watch in college and it will be interesting to see where he goes.
  15. Elkins/Pingelton was a fun match to watch. Tsirtsis/Quiroga semi-finals- Top Freshman against a senior nobody thought would lose. Too bad many of the great matchups are in the semis Perkey/Escobedo- Perkey had Escobedo on his back for a split second
  16. Roach at 145 and Flamme at 152. 145 -Mullins/Roach and Doug Welch is going to be interesting at state. Crown Point seems to have a very solid team would not be surprised to see them ranked in the top 40 nationally in a month or so if they stay healthy.
  17. What weight is Devon Jackson going this year? I am hoping for 140 so we can see Jackson/Tsirtsis rematch. Some great potential match ups this year with Sliga/Stevenson, Tsirtsis/Jackson, Mullins/Welch and Roach/Welch. 112 is really deep.
  18. I thought Danny Bradley was at Cal College did not see him on the list of freshman in this article. Any word on Bradley?
  19. I just looked again and it is said Tsirtsis pinned Hobbs must of been a misprint.
  20. Wow, Tsirtsis got pinned any info on the match? Did not see that coming
  21. What weekend is it this year? Thanks
  22. Jackson was signed up for 135, he must have changed his mind and thought he could make it down to 130. Wonder what wt he will go this year. Tsirtsis seems to be going 135 this year.
  23. Hard to go against Tsirtsis's. 6 tries and 6 championships. Only 2 losses out of about 330 matches.
  24. Looks like a great event again. 135 from Indiana is represented well. Tsirtsis, Jackson, Raley and Justin Kieffer http://www.super32.com/
  25. I am assuming he is still go to school at Warsaw? Wasn't there a rumor last year that he was going to CP?
