That would count as a loss for westerfield since it was an indivdual tourney. So really o farrow has last win against him!! -

Just to clear a few things up.... Y2, no one has every said this tourney could not be seated. I've ask from the day I was hired. It's never ever going to happen! Nutter, do u even no who I am? Do u no what I do for all wrestlers? I coach more kids o. The off season then I do in season, mostly from other schools then Connersville. Connersville over the last 3 years deseveringly should have placed where they did as a team. I guess u can only believe Cathedral can win, and if its close then someone is cheating! We did beat them in a dual last year! I honestly don't care for the tourney. It has worked for our team over the last few years. Every was good enough to maybe get 4 matches. Now we might be lucky to have 5 kids get thru to day 2. Ill take a 2 day super dual any day. I will say it one more time. The brackets are made up by the AD. I see the final brackets Friday morning when everyone else gets to. If u have a problem with me then honestly I don't care. I do so much for so many in this sport that if udont personally no me, then u have very little to do with the sport.

Wish I had time to answer all the concerns, but I'm too busy doctoring the brackets. Who should I screw over first? Brackets are not made up till final rosters are turned in. Once wrestlers are set in a weight then brackets are made by AD. The best kids win, the best teams win. Connersville is 78-9 over the last three years, no way they should have been in top ten????(28-1 last year)

Say what ever u want to think fan man, I have tough skin and can take or deal whatever. No matter what the score is i will never let anyone tell me what My wrestler needs. I'm with them mostly year round, I no what's best for them since I coach them. So if I decide not to have my athlete wrestle your best stud on the last match of a blow out. Then I'm dodging. If I thought your stud was going to throw my guy around and he had a more important match next that effected the team score then I'm dodging. Call it what u want, but I no about my wrestlers needs. It's not my responsibility to care about what another teams kid needs.

Play chess with your eyes closed!! Only certain people will agree, but there no Team event that an individual match has to happen. There is tons of strategy behind your so called "dodging"!

So what happens when u show up to a school with 12 wrestlers and 5 of them weigh 115-120. Your still doing match ups. Then the other school wins 102-18 and thinks they are good! I still believe all jr high matches especially in the eastern side of the state need to be individual match ups closest to weight and wrestle. Hopefully get 2 rounds in at a dual. Building individuals that can grow into a team later. Having the luxury of numbers and the scheduling of jr high sports works for a large area. Wrestling is back into a small corner where small schools cannot compete. Basketball overlaps wrestling so then the jr high season overlaps the ISWA Folkstyle season. Many great individuals from this area, but very few complete teams. The only team I believe to be really great that would have won a 1 or 2 a title would have been union co in the early 2000's.

Why start rumors lionfan. U coach your team and Connersville will coach theirs. He was sick and would have missed weight so no way he would weigh in. He was 152.1 at new castle and we wanted to see what he had against James, and trying move guys to win as a team.

Mike Bottomley on his 100th career team dual win. His Connersville Spartans swept the competition at the Panther Invite at Knightstown. 9 undefeated wrestlers for the Spartans today!

I appreciate the replies. Having any kind of set weight classes for eastern indiana would not work. Right now only 2 or 3 teams across 3 counties have a full team. And the basketball games overlapping the season makes the all around athlete choose without ever having time to develop into a wrestler. The Wayne co jr high wrestling tourney has been on the same date since at least 1997. Now there is a jr co basketball tourney the same day. Athletes or wrestlers that played basketball now have to skip/choose/or be told what to choose? I know that one co schools jr high wrestling season last 5 weeks!!!

Can anyone in the eastern Indiana area explain the current scheduling for jr high wrestling. Why can it be so different then the northern part of the state. Or why the jr high basketball goes from November to February, but jr high wrestling goes for 5 weeks?(last of February to third week of march) I've have been a coach in this area for 19 years now. I have battled with AD s about this issue, with no worry to them. It seems for this area if its not making money then it's no worth to the kids in the community. Eastern Indiana will always have some good hardworking individuals, but as a team they are far and in between. No jr high kid in this area will ever get to experience Folkstyle state because of the schedule. Not sure what one coach can do, but several together could make a change. If anyone in the area has any ideas or input, I would love to hear it. Jerry

Observations on Freestyle and Greco State

I know this might be off topic, but..... Besides the staggered start times being a flop, I thought it went pretty good. I was honored to get to be an official once again. The growth of Fayette co. Wrestling club had not allowed me to do it over the last few years. I think baby step are being taken to help this tourney grow. It will take time and effort from the ISWA, clubs, and coaches, but it can happen. I know as and official, ISWA made great strides to have the best officials(Tom,Dave,zach,Gus,toska,mike mc,mike h, jan, ken, bob) I'm sure I'm missing a few but I have personally looked up to all of u. No RTC tonight. Practice next week and for now on will be on Mondays at 6-730.

Just to throw some numbers out there..... At the Connersville RTC tonite we had 26 wrestlers from 5 area schools. 8 of them will be going with me to Center Grove. 4 will be going to Columbus East. The other kids who did the Folkstyle portion of the ISWA season have decided to only wrestle at the local RTC. I asked those 14 kids what made them choose to not do the freestyle tourneys. 1. They liked practicing the freestyle but did not want to pay or possible waste anyone's time(parents,coaches) with double dipping. Folkstyle only 2. Other sports or plans So will those kids not wrestling make or break indiana wrestling?

Should there be qualifying again for ISWA Freestyle State?

These last few comments have me really questioning myself as a coach. Over the last few weeks our RTC has had more kids from outside of Connersville then in. I pride myself on building and helping anyone who wants to grow in this great sport. I even tell kids that have had little success at tourneys, just be here on Wednesday s and get the competition here for free if that's what they need. So am I part of the problem? If little Johnny keeps wrestling the same 4 kids, and is getting better, but gets teched or pinned he loses self esteem? Do I tell mom keep spending the money? As a coach, the RTC has been a dream for me. Seeing kids from the area working hard together fuels me. I support the local tourney no matter what style, but ill never tell a kid that needs more time in the room to show up week after week to be the wipping post. -
Come on Y2, I appreciate this board and what u do for wrestling. I'm on here everyday. Did u go to a local tourney this weekend? Or out of state? At your RTC did u go over that the rules in freestyle and Greco had changed again? Where will your team be this weekend and how many u think will wrestle at state?

Seems like a 3 way battle. Maybe u guys should just beat each other up and the winner is right. Not sure I seen any of u at franklin( only know 2 of u). Were u out of state? Shame shame D There is no right answer. For my club(Fayette Co.) we do both. It does stink to see the same competition over and over, but we will be either be at center grove or Columbus next weekend. I do find it funny how we would want out of state wrestlers to maybe show up for a pre season tourney here but Indiana wrestlers to be damned for not supporting a local! The real problem starts from the top down. Fila changing the rules back 10 years ago or when ever seem to be the start of the decline of numbers at local and state tourneys. It still happens today. Rules changing whenever does not help small clubs who's coaches are not informed every week fila decides to switch it up. Just some of my thoughts. Ok let the bashing begin go...... Jerry
