  1. Its semantics to a college coach if he is looking at a resume and wrestler A goes attends and wins a few matches but doesn't place at national tournaments but was a 3x SS qualifier in Indiana as a senior and wrestler B has a similar track record at national tournies but is a 2x Div. 3 State placer in OH the state placer will get the nod from most college coaches* in who they would want. *The Indiana schools might have a different view on this since they are ingrained in the minutiae of the system we have and it is easier to send coaches to see some of these local wrestlers. Much like an OH coach would get that a Div 1 District qualifier might be a better wrestler than the D2 6th place finisher
  2. There was a guy here who guaranteed he could boost numbers and ability with just a few practices.....
  3. I think you mean CJ might have a shot to challenge me for the belt
  4. Semi State Qualifier mean nothing to any school that isn't in Indiana so Wabash,UIndy, Calumet, Trine, In Tech, Marion, IU, PU have any kind of idea what that means and can probably send someone to scout the SS. I was speaking with my old college coach this weekend and he was telling me how they just followed the state tournament (and that our system was not the best but that's another discussion) and were asking me about all my kids that placed. Not a word was mentioned about our 2 seniors who lost at SS. and that's a small NW D2 Ohio school (2700 under grads). Basically the point is hardly anyone will look up semi state results plain and simple.
  5. At state one year we were able to find her across the arena by her voice alone....
  6. Well Brayton Lee was the first state champ since 77 they only had one other Mark Minier in 76 and 77 I may have spelled that wrong

  8. Why doesn't Monrovia move up to 6A in football?
  9. I know i probably should have played football but shockingly 5'1 and 120lbs doesn't make you a top pick for a coach
  10. I did 4 years of XC...(somehow qualified for Semi State my junior year)...def was a factor in my conditioning which I think was a large aspect of my success.

  12. Yes College Coaches from around the country would have more reason to come to our state finals if they can see 2-3 times more kids. This in turn would allow the oppurtunity to get more kids wrestling in college be it D1,2,3 or NAIA due to getting some financial help as opposed to walking on at a school or attending a school without wrestling. Some of those kids come back and we have more college level wrestlers coaching in our state with a more college level mentality and we get better wrestlers. That's a broad explanation of it but there is the BASIC cycle.
  13. i almost hulk out of it with my large muscles and 6 pack
