The Lake Central vs Crown Point match is Thursday night
  3. Fuqua vs Harvey. Fuqua was ahead 3-2 with6 seconds left and in the up position. Fuqua pulled off a big mistake I bet he'll never do again. Instead of pulling Harvey forward and down he pulled him right over to the side on top of him, which resulted in a 5 point mistake and a 7-3 loss.
  4. Big Hawaiin: I know you are talking about Crown Point forfeiting to Knura. Believe me you wee right it was not the kid (Kral's) call. He definately wanted to wrestle Knura. When he pinned the Heavyweight he threw his headgear in the corner of CP's contingent, he was so upset with the decision.

  7. I think CP could have more than 2 state champs. There are 2 other weight classes that didn't even get mentioned, however I'm not going all out and mention their names at this time. We will find out Saturday at the Traicoff just how good they are.
  8. I also could care less about seeing the team scores unless it is between 2 teams that are highly ranked. I like to see the individual results to see how a ranked kid did, especially if he will meet one of our wrestlers in the tourney, whether it be in the sectionals, regionals, semi-state or state. I hate to see someone post sometnhing like: Crown Point 65 xxxxx school 10. I would like the individual match scores. I appreciate it and thank anyone that takes the time to post them.

  10. This is to advise you that Kyle Shrewsbury is wrestling at 171 lbs for Crown Point this year. He was 4 and 1 at the Warsaw Duals, losing 3-2 in overtime because of locked hands in the 3rd overtime period. Lost to Gabe Crowder from Eastside. He had 2 pins and a 7-3 dec., plus 1 fft. Looked pretty darn good after a 2 year layoff. I think Cope might be done for the year because of a cracked vertabrae. Also, Tyler Kral is wrestling at 215 this year. Looked awsome with 4 quick pins and 1 fft at the Warsaw Duals.

  12. The only reason the attendance was down at team state last year was because it was a foregone co nclussion that Mishawaka was going to win it. The year before, when Crown Point won it, it was up for grabs and the place was packed. The team state in 2011 will be up for grabs, as there isn't going to be such a dominant team as there was last year, so the gym at Center Grove should be packed again.
  13. cBARNETT Did you retire from reffing? I noticed that you were having a hard time getting down on all 4's to check for a pin last year. Just thought age finally caught up with you. lol
  14. AJ: You are right about Hummel's weight classes during his 4 years. However, I'm sure he had a hard time making 189 and would have been at full strength at 215, had there been a 215 lb class during his high school career.
  15. I agree with Walt Harris. If there had been a 215 lb class duting his school years, Damon Hummel from Rochester probably would have won at least 3 titles. He was the most exciting wrestler I have seen in Indiana wrestling. However, Eric Roach from Crown Point is very exciting to watch. He just keeps coming at you, and if he hadn't had strept throat during the state finals his sophomore year he probably would have had 2 state championships now instead of 1 and his only losses his freshman year were to the state champ and each time by oknly 1 point.
  16. Noone was expected to give Mishawaka a close match. They have probably one of the best teams from top to bottom that I have seen , at least in the last 20 years.
  17. Look what the class system did for high school basketball. It used to be it would at a packed stadium, now the crowds are small and noone really cares much about the tourney, because you don't really have a true state champion.
  18. I would like to congratulate Jason Tsirtsis and Eric Roach on their accomplishments this year. Besides being undefeated, neither one of them allowed a takedown or reversal all year. Good luck at team state and am looking forward to watching both of you making your way to the top step of the podium again next year.
  19. I would say New Castle semi-state is by far the worst. At least Evansville had someone posting as much as they could on a lap top as the matches were going on. From that I was able to make a half-ass summary of the final and consolation matches. New Castle had noone doing anything and the Indianapolis Star is worthless as far as giving usable results.
  20. If all contestants had the stats from all the semi-states it would be a more competitive contest. As it is since noone that attends the New Castle or Evansville semi-states know how to post results they have a definite advantage over the fans from the other 2. As usual Merrillville and Ft. Wayne had excellant postings on their semi-states, while the other 2 had zilch. Royboy: I like to study actual stats and since I didn't have them I didn't fair as well as someone who happens to be very lucky at guessing . Thanks a lot New Castle and Evansville fans. Now I have to go thru another year of humiliation because of your non-posting ability.
  21. I miss either "Impossible Dream" or "One Moment in Time" being sung as all 28 finalists are on the mat.
  22. Mickswife: When Gibson hit his walkoff homrun the game wasn't over until he crossed home plate. I remember playing Little League ball and this kid hit the ball over the fence against our team. However he missed third base while trotting around the bases and we appealed and he was called out. The next time at bat he hit another homerun and this time he stopped and picked up third base. This kid ended up in the White Sox farm system. He was the 2nd leading hitter in the big ten when he attended Northwestern. This was in the early 60's.
  23. Oddsmaker: This was meant for other members of the board that say the only reason the Merrillville semi-state has the most winners is because of the Mishawaka-South Bend area. The 6 winners our semi-state had were all from the region. It actually should have been 7 had the Yorktown Heavyweight been called for stalling which is all he did the whole match. I don't think the Cavemen will have any problem winning another team state title. I just hope CP gives them a better battle than they did at the Traicoff, but I don't see any team coming close to them. Sorry if I came across as being anti-Cavemen.
  24. I might have missed it, but out of the nine placers how many stood on the top stair of the podium? I think Lentz showed poor sportmanship after his loss to Cleveland also.
  25. Bash 513: My error, sorry, I was looking at the lopsided score going into that match, so naturally I thought Mishawaka's score was on the right.
