  1. We have some guys that are taking SATs also in the upcoming weeks. Academics should always come first. But... Let's be honest, we are talking about December, January, and February that need to be avoided to make sure our guys are ready to compete in our scheduled matches, most of which are set with plenty of time to plan around. It is a little frustrating as coaches when a kid tells you he scheduled it during a tournament weekend. Not the end of the world, but something we definitely try to plan around in future seasons. Good luck to all the wrestlers this weekend, always great wrestling at the Harvest.

    Merrillville vs. Valparaiso

    Merrillville
  3. I question the decision to cancel if this is indeed the reason for the cancellation.
  4. http://www.ihsaa.org/Portals/0/ihsaa/documents/quick resources/Winter Bulletin.pdf Scroll to pages 79-81. Penn is hosting the Regional that you have inquired about.
  5. Cruz beat him at the Frosh-Soph State if you are taking that into consideration. Either way is ok by me>
  6. I may be in the minority, but I would like to see one of Indiana's Seniors that will be competing during their Senior year for a respective Indiana High School. As much as I think Joe Lee is very deserving of an invite to the event, I think we should consider the opportunity that could take away from another Senior that may still be trying to prove themselves on a National level. Just a thought for discussion.
  7. Heck, you could probably change it to Middle Schoolers Who Could Win State!
  8. Makes sense. Definitely would like to see it down at the High School level.
  9. Doesn't that defeat the purpose of the out of bounds rule being less subjective in the first place?
  10. I think one thing maybe slowing the college out of bounds rule in High School is the amount of space around the circle for some High Schools. Implementing this rule would probably require some schools to purchase new mats to accommodate the rule. This is a cost factor that some schools simply could not afford.
  11. Freshman 138 - Graham Calhoun - 7th Sophomore 106 - Jacob Moran - 2nd (Lost in SV) 113 - Brock Peele - 8th 138 - Nathan Conley - 6th 220 - Kyle Cornwall - 7th Junior 120 - Collin Poynter - 6th 138 - Zachary Melloh - 8th 145 - Kasper McIntosh - 2nd 182 - Thomas Penola - 5th Senior 126 - Michael DeLaPena - 3rd 132 - Breyden Bailey - 3rd Sorry if I missed anybody and Congrats to all the above wrestlers as well as all the guys who wrestled tough all weekend.

  13. Also Steveson instead of Stevenson and Merrillville instead of Merriville and Definitely as opposed to Defiantly I got about 20 seconds in before I aborted.
  14. Great read. Save for a later topic, did I see both of those guys go and shake the other coaches hand after the match?
  15. Damn I am getting old. I member the movie.
  16. I agree with you there Fabio, definitely would be different outcomes. Da Region consists of portions of Lake and Porter Counties. Leggin has already posted the Porter County team, I will post the Lake County team a little bit later, this thing called work is getting in the way of things right now!
  17. For the record, my money would be on DeLaPena to reverse the result in a dual!
  18. My best guestimate as to a dual based on mostly previous results, which would be very entertaining as would any of these duals! 106 - Campbell MD Hollis. May lose a point here for bonus, as I think Hollis could avoid the major. (#TheCounty 4 - Da Region 0) 113 - Garcia D. Peele. (#TheCounty 7 - Da Region 0) 120 - Mills D. Triana. I know that Mills got the Fall, but I think think it is closer than that, in fact this would be my first swing match. (#TheCounty 10 - Da Region 0) 126 - Mulkey D. DeLaPena. OT match at State. Could go either way. My 2nd Swing match. (#TheCounty 13 - Da Region 0) 132 - Reitz D. Miranda. (#TheCounty 13 - Da Region 3) 138 - Black D. Conley. Does Black widen the gap the second time around? (#TheCounty 13 - Da Region 6) 145 - Lee MD. Crary. (#TheCounty 17 - Da Region 6) 152 - Lamore D. Clark (#TheCounty 17 - Da Region 9) 160 - Lemley MD Brewer (#TheCounty 17 - Da Region 13) 170 - Fatorre MD Cicciarelli (#TheCounty 17 - Da Region 17) 182 - Davison D. Walton. My 3rd Swing match of the dual, does Big Move Walton pull one out a la Dubusk Hobart/EMD 99? (Da Region 20 - #TheCounty 17) 195 - Davison MD McCormick. If McCormick does not make 195, maybe 6 pts given up here? (Da Region 23 - #TheCounty 17) 220 - Larson D. Pokerney. (Da Region 23 - #TheCounty 20) So it comes down to the Big Guys! Does Rickie have some Bonus Pts in him, or does it go to criteria? Does Streck pull it off? 285 - Streck D. Clark (FINAL: DaRegion 26 - #TheCounty 17) My Final swing match by the way. Feel free to debate away!
  19. Williams/Mora Friday night match. Cosgrove had a pretty wild one on a Friday night also, I think it was against returning Champ Llyoyd from Warren Central, Final score 22-14 Cosgrove. I know some of you may not remember this one, but the 2016 Red/Lee Final was pretty good.
  20. Remember this kid being pretty big for a 103lber.
  21. My best shot at Da Region Team 106 - Hollis 113 - Peele 120 - Triana 126 - DeLaPena 132 - Reitz 138 - Black 145 - Crary 152 - LaMore 160 - Lemley 170 - Fattore 182 - Davison 195 - Davison 220 - Pokerney 285 - Streck That is going with who won the final meeting at some weights, but man some pretty good guys that could be in the line up as well: 113 - Diaz, 120 - Poynter, 126 - Cummings, 132 - Tolin, 138 - Rumph, 145 - McIntosh, 160 - Kasch, 170 - Cornejo, 220 - Akers, 285 - Murrilo
  22. A suggestion for tie breaker would be to use confidence pts. 1-10, most confident pick 10, working down to your least confident at 1. If you pick champ incorrectly, pts are lost. I have seen this used before, works pretty well breaking ties and not as in depth as picking Semi Finalsit.
  23. I think it's kind of hard to leave some 4xer off the list of Top 3, but hey it's his list. I do agree that Red has to be considered #1.
