  1. Y'all crazy..... for real........ "It's inconvenient to me so I don't like it" Then stuff a sock in it and don't go. This is what kills the sport, I like EAC's comment above, ask the IHSAA if you can skip Sectionals, Regionals, SS when you get to High School, don't want to risk injury on anything.
  2. So why was the tournament ran the exact way the IHSAA runs state? Seems like a good chance to show them the benefit of running wrestle backs. What a wasted opportunity!
  3. New rankings went up last week...... My next round of rankings won't be up until sectional week. Is there somebody you are dying to see ranked? I'll throw him in my rankings for you.
  4. Law vs Conway, #1 vs #2 and old Invicta training partners matching up!
  5. Pistol Pete with the Mike Gundy reference, classic
  6. “Watches” and from ISB…. I cry foul!!! Do Burg matches come in Braille?!?!
  7. Thanks coach, I’ll get it corrected w next update!
  8. Lots of weights at Evansville will feature top 10 state ranked kids going at it for a golden ticket.
  9. I like that Mike and I act mostly independently. I do reach out when I see some type of glaring error or if I need more info. I use his rankings, track, emails and then I have great people from each regional like @Bigtoe19, @navy80, @hook and half, and all my Brownsburg brethren (just to name a few) that I can reach out to when I need more info.
  10. I"m not sure I've said this lately but 126 is flat sick, there's a legit dozen contenders, holy cow. And if I can't find results on here, track, or nothing's been sent to me then like WKND says - save your tears for another day!
  11. I’ll be toes in the sand in Miami from 12/28 to 1/2
  12. Well your Christmas will be a letdown then.
  13. Nathan Willman from North Posey, 113 - 220 between freshman and senior years, placed 4th as a senior.
  14. I'm just giving you the what for..... I'm well aware! And a Dart Hustler, word is the movie The Color of Money was inspired by MattyB's midwest Dart hustle!
  15. Makes sense, I've been out of the MS loop for awhile. I like the 4 locations and take top 4, I think that might have been what I used to push. Really make MS state something special. Have faceoffs, finals by themselves, etc.
  16. @Mattyb It's really two things - #1 Time, MS state used to drag passed midnight and there always seemed to be a snow storm. I one year we got home at like 3 or 4 am. #2 encourage more participation, as a parent I didn't waste my time or money last year for my 5th grader to go 0-2 and I wasn't going to this year, but now with a qualifier in place. It makes more sense and we will probably try it out. More kids might take a stab why whittling down MS state to truly guys that belong there. You will also now know what you are getting, 32 man bracket, the host facility can plan accordingly and it's all good. Finally, not to be mean or close minded but we don't hand out state qualifiers at High School, so why do it at MS? I bet Mendez can go find better competition than Sectionals or Regionals or Semi-State, but that's the process. It's about goal setting and prioritization - do you want to shoot for a Middle School State Championship or do you have bigger goals?
  17. Most of those dudes would bounce y'all heads off the mat....
  18. Nice... pushed this for years and was told it would never happen! Glad someone came to their senses!
  19. I really think if they choose to pursue the Olympics, the WWE would support that. An Olympic medalist has more appeal on a national and international scene than an NCAA champ or runner up.
  20. Not as in depth as Matt's answer, which needs to be pinned to the top. But I know that there are some wrestlers out there that want to play football in college.. I share this on Facebook every year - "You want a solid off-season workout? Join the wrestling team. No piece of iron can simulate what you will endure in a wrestling practice. Why should a football player wrestle?!?!? I just came across these old football recruiting letters I received in the Spring of 97. What’s significant? I had just gotten runner up at the IHSAA state wrestling championships. That spring I toured Illinois, Notre Dame, Purdue and a number of other schools. Why I ended up wrestling, wrestling got my foot in the door at a number of legit schools. Hey football player, get your butt in the wrestling room!!" For the record though I ended up wrestling NAIA
  21. DJ Radnovich and Jason Fryar need to be in this talk. Both studs that killed the state field in their respective years.
