  1. We need Heavy Hands...SAC vs Carroll...
  2. Trying to recruit a 300 lb freshman. His excuse is that he wants to lose weight before coming out for wrestling.
  3. Good to hear you are doing better! However, reading your story, I am surprised the Iowa training staff isn't trained to say you are fine, get back out on the mat.
  4. 11 were from out of State, 1 was from out of country. We had one kid visiting from Russia (currently visiting Ohio) that came over to wrestle Freestyle and took his first attempt at Greco. He was fun to watch. He had freestyle exhibition matches with the Curtis brothers from Yorktown. The older Curtis was able to score a takedown on him.
  5. Good points Clint! I like how you break the seasons down, I also thought about something and how hard it is to teach my beginning guys to actually control what they are doing. My peewees and bantams especially. I have found it is much easier to teach those little guys freestyle(club level not academy), than it is folkstyle, they roll around a lot anyways. I wish we could spend those first few years just teaching them freestyle and then add in folkstyle as they get a older. I know thats my wishful thinking, but it will never happen. I commend those Academy coaches that can get those little guys to comprehend everything at such a young age. Ryan Parrish builds one of the best programs in the nation with little guys, and I have no idea how he does it. RWA, MCWC, and the other Indy guys are doing a great job as well, just notice a lot more with the Contenders.
  6. What about go back to how it use to be? Use to have to qualify by placing in the top 3 of a freestyle/greco meet. Instead of making them go to 2, just say hey go place in the top 3 once some where.
  7. With the avg placements, are those just what they placed? Are you adding in the years they did not place? Did not qualify? Also add in that Angel beat Humphrey when they both were Freshman, keeping Reece from being a 4 time champ. He also beat Shane Perkey and Macke in the semis as a sophomore and a Jr. Both freestyle/greco all americans. However he never wrestled a Nick Lee type matchup where everyone was talking about it. Macke was probably the closest he got to that type of match, as Macke was one of the best to never win a title.
  8. Can someone make a list of different opponents each beat while in HS. In state and then maybe out of state as well?
  9. Did we have as many National type tournaments back when Angel was coming through? I know we had some, but not nearly as many as today. We basically had the Folkstyle and Fargo stuff. The Asics Fila stuff and the Tulsa Nationals were big ones then.
  10. Angel, my favorite wrestler of all time. Wish he would have married my sister...

  13. Does something like this count in your list? Wrestler A (senior) defeats Wrestler B (freshman) Wrestler B goes on to win state as a Senior, Wrestler A never won a title. Does that count as beating a State Champ? Or does it have to be the same year they won it?
  14. Not that I know of, would have to do some research to double check
  15. Columbia City has had 1 kid in the finals twice and have had a couple of 3rds. But never have had a State Champ. We have been to the original team state 3 times, and the new version once.
  16. I do not like the first available for a tournament like this. Too many teams bring 1 wrestler down, but have many fans that want to sit near the mat that the wrestler will wrestle on. Not a fan of sitting near mat 3, but then the wrestler wrestles on 1. Go back to the old format please.
  17. They will not have to pay to get back in, however they do have to pick up tickets for the following sessions. Their coaching passes will not get them back in.
  18. Haha hey I read the email, and asked my AD about it so he contacted the ihsaa to find out. He originally called it WW3. Haha. But later tonight they resent one back to him fixing their statement. I just wanted to make sure everyone else saw that and was not surprised when they got their Saturday
  19. Just had another email reply to clarify everything. Straight from the email. Coaches of athletes who do not advance to Saturday will receive a complimentary ticket. This can be picked up in the main lobby at the coaches will call. You must provide a photo ID. If you plan to attend both session II and III on Saturday, you must receive a ticket before each session from the will call.
  20. Just got the email from IHSAA, if you do not have a wrestler participating on Saturday, the coaches will have to pay to get in. Wrestlers will not have to pay though. Coaches get wristbands for Friday. Then new ones for Saturday only if you have someone participating.
  21. How does getting an alternate into the semi state mid week work? Another wrestler was injured and the next comes in.
  22. Garrett Goldman of Bloomington North, now at IU. I doubt that he would have won a MS state title but got one as a Sr.
