  1. A sprawl would be a “wrestling action”, which would not be subject to a fleeing the mat call.
  2. Fleeing is intentionally and obviously escaping from a situation that is not favorable to you. It usually happens on an edge of the mat takedown and kids are leaping/lunging out of bounds versus going out of bounds from “wrestling actions”.
  3. I heard Noah Warren is doing some coverage as well.
  4. One fan was absolutely beside himself with the injury timeout taken by McConnell, I heard him across the Ford Center!
  5. Center Grove has been hit with at least two fleeing the mats during the state tournament and several stall calls! Center Grove has been such a boring team to watch! They do nothing and win close matches. Kudos to them for winning tough and close matches, but goodness just wrestle! It’s like their coaches watched the “Stall Camp” Flowrestling special and took the “Why win by 2 when you can win by 1” mentality.
  6. I did see it called once at New Castle, definitely not at 215, it was a middle weight. One guy shot in on a single and the opponent wizzered and then proceeded to do everything to get out of bounds once the wizzer didn’t work.
  7. I too saw the coach get a misconduct, but I think he used some flavorful language to contest the call. This being said, the inconsistency at New Castle was certainly frustrating.
  8. Some of the Warren coaches were WAY too ready to scrap, some of them on the other hand did the right thing and tried to defuse the situation.
  9. New Castle did have some absolutely hand scratchers of calls, with officials either doubling down or completely folding when a coaches asked them a question. The worst was the 120 match with Greencastle Central and Fishers. Stall call made with 4 seconds left to tie it and then got waived after the coaches argued with the refs.
  10. I’ve heard some bad stories from this weekend, but this seems to be the worst.
  11. Yes of course wrestling is difficult! I’m just saying that a lot of times it’s better to just make it seem like you’re wrestling than supermanning out of bounds or running backwards.
  12. I saw quite a bit of fleeing, last second stallings, and takedowns to end matches today. How hard is it just to wrestle?!
  13. One of the Moran brothers lost eligibility a couple of years ago for doing the same thing at one of the region schools, I believe CP.
  14. You sir, might be the smartest wrestler ever! Which unfortunately is not saying much, we are not known for being smart. Great idea! If only IHSAA employed guys like you!
  15. Isabelle Kaplan at 113 in East Chicago
  16. I wouldn’t be surprised if the same draws happen for certain reasons and why it takes so long for them to be released. There is absolutely zero reason to not release them Saturday night, especially if they have a “formula”.
  17. Matt Burns is hands down the best wrestling name ever. I believed he wrestled at Hobart 7 or 8 years ago.
  18. The thing is this; no matter the enrollments of the schools at a sectional, they will all wrestle each other throughout their state journey. If you are suggesting to make a “big school sectional” and a “small school” one, then we are essentially making pseudo-class wrestling. Even with this “solution” the small schools will still eventually have to wrestle the large schools. If it’s an argument against big schools winning the sectional due to their size, just look at Mater Dei. They win sectionals and regionals despite being a smaller school.
  19. Just want to acknowledge I was a bit premature on this posting! I have since learned how to read Trackwrestling!
  20. Yes! I am so sorry, I saw some sectionals were finished, and my family was curious and I checked Terre Haute South prematurely. So sorry about the mistake!
  21. Visiting the wife’s family in Terre Haute and strange happenings at the Bloomington Sectional. Terre Haute South had all their wrestlers wrestling in the placement rounds! However, they ALL LOST! 12 - 2nd placers 2 - 4th placers South might need to work on some conditioning this week in preparation for Regionals. No digs at the program, incredibly impressive having all the wrestlers place and advance! Just thought it was a strange phenomenon.
