I do not think it will happen, as I believe the last match was the anomaly, but let's say DT wins something vicious... maybe a 12-2 Tech?
Does Yazdani then consider 97 KG and Ghasempour make the drop for 2024?
I am of the mind that he would succeed at whatever weight he goes. He has one generational talent to deal with at 86 KG rather than two at 97 KG is the largest difference.
FTR - I believe it ends up being a 4-3/3-3 type match with one person getting a TD and that person winning. I will go DT because of homerisms, but I would not bet on this match.
Edit: You could add two points to the victor on an errant last second failed TD attempt that gets countered - similar to 2021 Worlds.

The difference between Yazdani and Sadulaev is that Yazdani has already moved up from 70/74kg. Sadulaev was small/underpowered at 97kg for the first 1-2 years after moving up from 86kg. Yazdani won't have that luxury if he decides to move up this close to the Olympics.
I don't see Yazdani moving up to 97kg whatever happens. In the first two matches against DT he dominated the first period then gassed in the second period. In the third match he controlled the match and led throughout, but lost to a last second TD in a a razor close match. The fourth match was similar to the third, but Yazdani did a better job of shutting down Taylor's attacks and won 6-2. In the fifth, Taylor did a great job of shutting down Yazdani's underhook attacks and won 7-1. Notably, Yazdani has not had major conditioning issues since the first two times he wrestled DT, so a blow out match for either guy isn't likely IMO.
DT is obviously the clear favourite going forward, but I expect the next match to be similar to the last three, decided by small margins influenced by adjustments made by each wrestler. Age is also on Yazdani's side, DT has been wrestling for a long time and won't stay in his prime forever. It's anyone's guess whether age will noticeably impact DT by next year (when he will be 33).

Brownsburg and Crown Point at IronMan
· Indiana has opened up its borders and lightened up on their travel restrictions, finally allowing teams at the Ironman. This year will see #30 Brownsburg and #6 Crown Point, two of the best teams in recent Indiana history, who will get to test their mettle against the rest of the country. Crown Point comes off a record-breaking state tournament, and, despite the loss of Indiana All-Timer Jesse Mendez, returns two champs in Logan Frazier (VT commit) and Sam Goin (IU commit) and 3 runners up from last season. Brownsburg was team runners up last year and would be strong favorites in almost any other season, touting state champ Jake Hockaday and runner up Preston Haines. Notable others from these teams include Orlando Cruz, a Purdue commit at 190 for Crown Point, and Leighton Jones, an Iowa football commit at 285 for Brownsburg.

Carson said he saw him. I didn’t see him. May be banged up. Hate to speculate tho. Btw… that tournament is amazing. Crazy tough and physical. Lots of Indiana guys. Crazy seeing those guys looking like middle aged men after seeing them all grow up.
Good time for sure, if you guys ever get a chance to attend. $40 for the whole weekend. Vegas was packed. Nobody told me that there was Rodeo world finals and pac 10 championship here. Saw a cowboy pull out a lasso and rope a random lady yesterday tho!!!

my guess is that sharshenbeko did not want to be in the same weight as ciobanu, but, that is pure speculation...
i had heard moldova was bringing a full squad and then was going to alaska to do a dual, but, the funding fell through... i am at pumped some of them are going to be in NY... will make this tourney much more interesting...

Jordan Slivka & Carson Brewer
Ohio University is home to a few Indiana State Champions that have been making a name for themselves as Bobcats. Two-time State Champion, Jordan Slivka of Cathedral, is coming off his best collegiate season yet. Finishing his last season with a 25-7 record at 157lbs, He found himself in Detroit for the DI NCAA Championships. Slivka is bumping up to the 165lbs weight class this season and was an honorable mention in FloWrestling’s 2022-2023 NCAA DI rankings. “It’s really cool knowing that I am still believed in and looked at even when moving up a weight class,” states Slivka.
Slivka reminisces on his time wrestling at the nationals saying he was unable to hear the whistle when he started his pigtail match. The crowd’s roars fuel him, as he is “dying to compete” for the Bobcats this season. His goal is to do what he needs to do to get his team a MAC Championship title. Individually, his is goal is to compete to the best of his ability every single match. “All to gain and nothing to lose,” Slivka is on his path to find himself back at the NCAA Championships. Being a great wrestler at the next level comes naturally, “if you’re willing to buckle down on work ethic and show yourself how good you could be,” says Slivka.
