  1. There is also one by Menards on N. Green River rd
  2. This seems like a weird topic that popped up all of a sudden
  3. It used to be awesome. Haven't been there in probably 7-8 years because last time I was there the strom tasted like crap, the place was filthy and service was terrible
  4. Los Bravos (multiple locations) Hilltop Inn (if you are adventurous get the brain sandwich) Donut Bank Comfort by Cross Eyed Cricket (comfort food right just down the street from the ford center) Roof Top bar and grill just north of the Ford Center on MLK Cavanaugh's (a little more upscale steak place at the casino) Zuki (hibachi/sushi place on main st) Gerst Haus on Franklin Smitty's on Franklin Just my opinion, but the Pizza king on St. Joe and Franklin has gone down hill and isn't nearly as good as it used to be All sorts of chain restaurants on the east side if you stay out there.
  5. Vaughn would rip my head off. I was just a lowly state placer. My only hope would be to try to get him DQ'd for stalling
  6. Like I said, he was really good. Don't think he was Olympic champion good. If you want to believe that he would have beaten Kenny Monday, more power to you.
  7. I saw Brooks win state. He was really good, no doubt. But the guys mentioned in other posts were multiple time state champs/fargo champs/sr national champs/NCAA AA's. and one was an NCAA champ. I think he's a tier below those guys. I know you don't agree, but the accolades just aren't there for him.
  8. Lot of really good wrestlers on your list, but only a couple would be in the conversation to be on the all-time Indiana team.
  9. I'd throw these guys in the mix. The wrestle offs would be insane: 106 113 - Pat Cassidy 120 - Steven Bradley 126 - Zeke Seltzer 132 - Nick Lee 138 - Reece Humphrey 145 - Brayton Lee 152 - Joe Lee 160 - Matt Coughlin 170 - David McCubbins 182 - David Palmer 195 - Jason Greer 220 - DJ Radnovich, Jake O'Brien 285 - Matt Wills, Andy Schneider
  10. i give less credence to Micic. Yes, he wrestled in the olympics. But he wrestled for Serbia. He wouldn't have made the team if he opted to wrestle for the US. Couple that with less success at the NCAA level than the others and he's further down the list. Just my opinion.
  11. Well, I was wrong. Nagao used a TD and a riding time point to earn a 4-0 win over Mendez in the 5th place bout.
  12. This exact thing happens every year at world team trials and every 4 years at the olympic trials. Once the dream of being the rep for the US, guys have ff'd out of the consolations many many times. Maybe people are viewing it differently because it is college and the whole team aspect, but Iowa had a team trophy wrapped up and they had no shot to catch Penn St. Now, if they needed him to wrestle back to third in order to win the national championship, I believe he would have wrestled, hurt or not.
  13. I'd be curious to see the results if Mater Dei chose to wrestle in their enrollment class in a classed individual tournament. I know everybody will say that they should wrestle up like they do for team state, but since it is all about the kids and exposure, etc. wouldn't it make sense for Mater Dei's kids to wrestle in their enrollment class so they can increase their odds of winning individual state titles? Guys like Blake Boarman, Alec Freeman, Eli Dickens, Cole Ross, etc would have had a great chance to win 2-3 titles in that scenario. Wouldn't that be better for them?
  14. My Indiana GOAT list based on HS and College (I give more weight to college accomplishments): Nick Lee - only losses in HS were to Micic and Red, 2x Fargo Champ, Jr Pan Am champ, went 5,5,1,1 in college, 5x AA Andrew Howe - 192-1 in HS, Fargo champ, went 2,1,3,2 in college, 4x AA Angel Escobedo - 223-1 in HS, 2x Fargo runner up, went 3,5,1,4 in college, 4x AA, 2x world team member Mason Parris - 206-1 in HS, 2x flo nationals champ, jr world champ, DNP,2,5,1 in college, Jason Tsirtsis - 173-2 in HS, Fargo champ, went 1,3,7 in college This list could change based on international results in the future. If Parris is our guy at 125 kg for the foreseeable future and brings home world/olympic medals he will shoot to the top of the list
  15. I guess MD is the kingdom of D1 141/149 with 6 AA's between Nick Lee and Matt Coughlin
  16. Clearly the talk on this board of Mendez being a 4xer after he beat Byrd was way premature. I'm a little surprised he is that low. A 2nd round match up with Vito isn't ideal. I'd be surprised if he wins that one. Then he will have a tough road coming back through the consolations to get on the podium. He's obviously talented enough to get on the podium, but he picked a bad time to have a bad tournament at the Big 10's.
  17. If the IHSAA classed the sport it would be solely based on enrollment, just like every other sport. I'm sure they would implement the success factor like the other sports as well. So I would assume that every school would be in their enrollment class to start with and then be moved around based on success.
  18. opportunity for those things at a young age depends on where you live. I grew up in the 80's, started HS in the fall of '88. I played in organized baseball and soccer leagues starting in Kindergarten. I first stepped on a wrestling mat in first grade (MD feeder league). Didn't play organized basketball until 5th grade (but there were some biddy ball leagues around town that started 2nd or 3rd grade I think. Evansville Junior Football League has been around forever and you could start in 2nd grade. So it wasn't all sandlots and driveway basketball courts back in the day.
  19. I think you hit the nail on the head. Specialization is likely driving down numbers. I know multiple kids that played multiple sports through 8th grade and then decided to specialize in their sport of choice starting in 9th grade. I believe this is causing the overall drop in numbers
  20. What happened to Brayton Lee in the consi's? Saw he got pinned pretty quickly, but don't know the details.
  21. I'm well aware of Jaylon Smith's background and Luers' success. The point is, he still played at a 2A school. Whether or not you think it is good comparison doesn't change the facts.
