Looks like Boonville got a mix on the draws.  I like Fulks draw. Nothing is a given Inman is a returning SS Qualifier and Burdon is a returning State Qualifier.  Sutton, Overton and Mayes got proverbial death draws, Conner's draw doesn't look bad, but I don't know enough to see how he matches up against Ross.  Heuring at 220?  No clue.  Don't know enough about the guys at that weight to guess.  With some strong wrestling and a break or two, I could see Fulks back in the final against Matt Lee.

    Did they get anyone through?

Nice article. One of Indiana's best and by just watching him the couple times I've seen him he seems like a great kid.

How do you feel though if you are Austin Bethel, giving him his one and only loss in High School. I did find it funny that the article states Brayton made a mistake late in the match to get pinned. If I remember correctly, Bethel dominated that match early, then Lee made a good comeback only for Bethel to put him away late. The late mistake to me was Brayton trying a desperation move.

All in all, great kid, great role model for future Indiana wrestlers. Best of luck to Brayton as he finishes out his high school career and moves on to the Gophers!

    You're remembering the match correctly.

Idk... they go from the 2 Day, 12-14 team Tournament. In my opinion should only be 1 day Tournament with that many teams. To a 2 Day, 48 Team Tournament . No Brainer to me .

Maybe it was time to move to bigger & better things . :)

So the 3rd place team finish last year with only 2 returning champions (if my memory holds) isn't good enough competition to come back too?

  4. Thats what some where saying a couple years ago befor Cash put him on his back.

Maybe that's why the title says "who YOU got". Nothing's final till it's final.

I don't think people viewed Lee as a "lock" that year. If memory holds, B. James was the favorite going in.

  5. 106: B. Lowery

    113: A. Garcia

    120: C. Rooks

    126: G. Rooks

    132: B. Bailey

    138: B. Black/Z. Melloh

    145: B. Lee

152: J. Lee (I'm most excited for this weight. The "Can Joe Lee Be Conquered?" storyline is VERY intriguing with the three capable guys posing as worthy challengers in what could be Joe's final time in Bankers.)

    160: B. Laughlin

    170: T. Webster

    182: N. Walton

195: T. Tonte (This weight class also excites me. Tristen Tonte looks to strike gold in his third shot to the finals, while Wilderman, Davison, and Stewart all vie for a chance to be the man opposite of him in the finals. Should it be Stewart, this puts the exclamation point on many things for Tonte.)

    220: M. Parris

285: E. Ellis/W. Ripple (This weight intrigues me due to the abundance of quality wrestlers in it. The style has evolved in a major way with the big guys actually working to score points. Ellis has the most creds and is more than capable, but Ripple seems to have been lights out lately.)

    J. Lee is a lock.

  6. As far as the best Indiana legacy, my vote would have to go to Matt Coughlin. 2x runner up, 2x champ. Continued his career for the Hoosiers and was an all American. Now, coaches a fantastic club that cranks out state placers, state champs, national champs, etc. every year, in Indiana. The guy has never left our state and has had success at every level of wrestling.

I'd throw Alex Johns up there as well, very comparable accolades.
