I am not in the room this year and only go to the bigger matches, my dad and I posted results for them for the past 10 years. Coach King doesn't use the internet and no one else from that way uses Indianamat,  so I guess they're SOL in that regard.

More reasons for the IHSAA to get off their a** and do something productive in recognizing this tournament. It would grow the sport, but this being Indiana, that's not what the IHSAA wants. They want to grow basketball instead, but they're killing that too. Football is growing just because the popularity is growing in the country and throughout the world, not due to the IHSAA. Not just the IHSAA, but the OHSAA next door and others are screwing this up as well. Both fall under the NFHS and going through their "training" material, I can see why. Just think in terms of the federal government and state governments and how they've been failing too!

Ohio was interesting in that in January(maybe sooner) the state would send out an inquiry to teams asking if they wanted to participate in the state dual series. I believe teams had to have at least X number of wrestlers to participate on top of that. This does open up a can of worms in that maybe a solid team drops because they have a REALLY good team in their sectional/regional and would rather use the time to rest and practice.

Of course the OHSAA just axed their team dual series after a very short run. So maybe it isn't a good thing.

They dropped it on the OHSWCA as well as you know. Guessing their venue issues was a big reason why with not having St John's to use.

#1 in no way should teams get a free waiver in schedule points for this event so long as it is not IHSAA sponsored. That would be a direct disadvantage to the other 270 teams that are not chosen for the event.

#2 Anything that requires more than a 2 schedule points will result in many teams not being able to drop the event. For instance at Garrett their 6 tournaments on their schedule are NECC Duals, NECC Tournament, home invitational, Carroll Super Dual(conference matches wrestled there), Al Smith, and Team State. Right now they are barely able to fit team state into the schedule, anything more would likely result in them needing to drop one of the other five events which would be very difficult to do. Many teams throughout the state are in the same position.

#3 on top of all of that running more than one weekend would create a logistics nightmare for schools that are participating and hosting. Pulling this thing off already is a task that most have no clue what goes on behind the scenes.

See #1. Should be IHSAA sponsored and ran like other IHSAA tournaments. My mistake for not clarifying that aspect. They should let the IHSWCA run the logistics. I'm in the minority, but the season could go into March.

This is a common misunderstanding about how the qualification process works. We compiled a decade of data to see how well the advancement of each individual to a given level (regional, semi-state first round, etc.) connects to their direct impact on their team's DUAL level in the next season. You're then awarded points that directly predict your DUAL quality in the next season. We're going on 12 seasons now of getting 95% of the next season's consensus top 5 duals teams in each class into the event. With the 12-team classes, we usually end up with only 1 or 2 of the year-end top 10 the following season not having been at Team State. Win matches in the state series and prove you're going to be a good duals team.

Totally misses those kids that fill in during bumps that fight off the pins or pull an upset. Not the true essence of the dual aspect that you would have wrestling in an actual dual meet. Plus those schools like CP or MD that the backups are probably state qualifiers to champs behind other state qualifiers or champs at their weight. Yeah it's better than nothing by going off individual results. Just rather see team state dual qualifiers come from winning prior rounds of duals in a tournament format like football, basketball, baseball, and etc.

32 of the 40 berths are 100% decided by your kids winning in the upcoming state series and earning a bid. 4 more bids are voted on after state from among the first few "just missed" teams. Then the final 4 won't be chosen till next December from among those not yet qualified. There are very few big school obstacles stopping Snider from getting a FW auto berth. Win a handful more matches at SS this year and you'll have a very real shot.

Wish the IHSAA would help and not count the event towards the competition points as I believe they still do(correct me if I'm wrong). I'd love for it to be like football & etc with sectionals/regional to earn a spot at state (top 8/12 teams per class) in an actual dual tournament instead of basing it on individual tournament results. Duals and individual tournaments are so different. Criteria for teams being those filling 8 weight classes.

It’s college wrestling… nobody is ever 100 percent healthy. The kid is amazing and had reached the number one ranking in his class of all college wrestlers. I’m guess he’s had a few hiccups but know in my heart that he will be on top again before it’s all said and done. A lot of my middle schoolers wear shirts that say BeLEEve. I think they are on to something!

Sure hope he gets healthy and back on top. He's my favorite college wrestler currently on my favorite team.

Venue was no better for fans in 1a this year than it was last year.  Smaller sections of bleachers than at Martinsville, and several of those were occupied by team.  Restroom facilities were improved though.

1A & 2A in Ft Wayne or Muncie with seating. With the close proximity of the schools I listed, the atmosphere could be even better. I would have considered attending 1A if it was closer like 2A was.

  8. Fun day as a wrestling fan. I know everyone would love to see all 4 classes in one venue, but I'd settle for 2/3 venues as long as 1A & 2A would be paired together. Sure would help out WZBD & WPGW. Especially when AC, Bellmont, South Adams, Norwell, Bluffton, Jay County, & Garrett making up parts of those brackets this year.

Your test is to give a predicted score for Horn vs Timar since you didn't answer the 4-1 result earlier 😁. You must also predict Horn vs Landis, and Dickman vs Landis and then rank all 4 of them and must show your work in full for results & subsequent rankings. Good luck as you have 30 minutes 🤣 (jk). It's been a fun time and you know I had to have Thor's back!

  11. Also to clarify, the Perrysburg comments are just a joke. I have huge respect for their program and hoping they could possibly knock off St Ed's. If you aren't familiar, outside of Graham the western part of Ohio is often overlooked as the OH/PA line is more vociferous. Obviously also respect CP, Brownsburg, & MD myself just to clear that up before I hear from their respective fans. To me those are the standards of IN wrestling currently.

@casualwrestlingfan It appears that you are basing your opinion of the way that Ohio looks at Indiana on message boards. Which I get… you love dem message boards!!! Get off that border and get to dem tournaments. Leave that Yappi alone!!!

With that said, @ontherise219 has had actual conversations with actual people in the know. He clearly has been told that the people who matter do respect and are in fact impressed with our top level guys and programs.

Also.. my son wrestles in college in Ohio. My car logs thousands of miles to Ohio every year. All of his teammates know of our top programs and how tough our top guys are. One of his teammates was the middle school ranker for Rokfin. He would send me text weekly asking about our top middle school guys.

I have been to Brecksville many years and have seen all of the Indiana champs win it in person. Everytime I have went, I have had national rankers and college coaches ask about Indiana guys. I have sat there a heard the table workers have conversations about how they are impressed with the Indiana boys (paid table workers not kids).

There is not a month that goes by that I don’t have a D1 coach from Ohio text me to ask about Indiana guys. I stay in contact with a D1 coach who’s dad happens to run the St.Ed’s program. I can say without a doubt that they are impressed by our top guys and respect us. Just was we are impressed and respect them.

As far as St Ed’s and Graham guys. Our top guys have been wrestling those guys since they were little kids. I’ve been in Cleveland when @tigrreapr56 put together a yourh team and beat StEds in their own house. I’ve been to tournament of Champions when Indiana kids have won it. I’ve been to Toledo when the Indiana kids were battling for a national middle school title. I’ve been to Medina and watched our kids battle at their holiday tournament. I’ve been to Mason Ohio and watched our best elementary kids wrestle ohios best. I’ve been to Heartland and Kingsport and watched our youth take it to Ohio. Like @ontherise219 I was at carnahan. Was at Ironman too. We impressed there.

My oldest son even wrestled for Ohio mafia in middle and high school. They could have taken Ohio kids but put my son and @TeamGarcias sons on the team, because they were impressed.

Bottom line.. you can have the opinion that the fine folks of Ohio are not impressed with our guys. But.. I have about 20 years of actual experience of going over their and being told that they are impressed (from people who actually matter) with our wrestling in Indiana.

Now… with all of that said! We do not have the depth that Ohio does. But.. that all comes down to population. As a 1a guy @casualwrestlingfan I’m sure that you can relate. Ohio goes much deeper then us. They just have more wrestlers and a deeper pool. But.. our top guys and programs are right up their with theirs.

i think you opinion in this matter is wrong. Just like you think @TeamGarcia is wrong. With all of this said.. this is all in fun (I hope). Great conversation men.

Probably so with my Yappi "friends". I always poke them that we have 1 true champ instead of 3! Yeah depth is a big issue in comparison. Good to know that those who matter in Bucknut land (Go Blue in football and Ski U Mah in wrestling btw) are showing IN HS wrestling respect. I do need to get back to the bigger tournament scene to observe and hopefully hear those praises instead.

New project is currently to build up a brand new wrestling program that's D3 or 1A equivalent at a big basketball school in Ohio. Big thing is getting kids to try the sport. Maybe this year the HS(year 3 if Im not mistaken) will get their 1st state qualifier. The goal is to also improve the other D3s & couple D2s that have been around whether they are new as well or have some history. Also would love to partner with our local Indiana schools that are 1A & 2A to make both sides better. Thankfully @aoberlin started The Fort as well as having IN Tech's WRTC. Hoping our youth will get to those locations this summer!

Thank you for your heart felt comments, we lost a few good posters in this Battle Royale, also gained a few new posters . We lost a beloved Indianamat Avenger in this process.  I then became the most The Notorious Thanos Avenger and won .

    Thank You…. Thank you

but they don’t even care about them that’s why they came to Indiana to wrestle them

Care? I said impressed, there is a difference. I'm not saying the individuals are right, just what they spouted. For all I know, they aren't directly affiliated. Just stating that sentiment is floating out there in Bucknut land. Hear the same about Indiana football until Brownsburg goes over and beats them too. I'm sure there are Hoosiers that aren't that impressed with St Ed's & Graham (which would be dumb). However Iowa & Pennsylvania folks think they are the best in the country bc of their Universities.

I’m been preparing for a test for weeks, including crating multiple Venn Diagram and flow charts. But  casualwrestlingfan said “it doesn’t mean squat. “ At this point I’m not sure how to best prepare for the final exam or if there will even be one.

Keep you on your toes! Never know what questions I'll put on that test.

Ahhh.. Rochester is in Fulton County.

I thought #1 county was Adams. Please clarify.

Perhaps you can go with TheFort???

Still confused on Graham and St Ed’s point??? With that said, both teams were at the Carnahan and Ironman. St Ed’s is really good this year. Graham is a bit down.

Again… not in the debate. Just.trying to note of what is what and where is where.

#1 County is Adams and my home county. Garcia represents The County. I'm a stateliner that gets to see a lot of Ohio clubs & teams as my stepson wrestles & goes to school in Ohio (wife's address). My son & eventually daughter will go to school in Indiana (my address). Ed's & Graham are the standard and over in Ohio, they aren't too impressed with CP, Brownsburg, MD, & etc. Basically saying he's arguing with Thor & etc over nothing.
