  1. Don't know a lot of the ins and out of rules like this, but is it illegal to video tape a match? Aren't a lot of match broadcasted on the web and archived?
  2. That is pretty awesome -- would have been great to be there thanks for the post.
  3. 160 Mville Gomez (Bishop Knoll) over Schurg (CP) 5-3
  4. A simple formula would work to take your point and others into consideration. Award a point total for placing (first = 1 pt....8th = 8, a loss in the first round = 9) add them all up and the SS with the least amount of points is the strongest.
  5. Of course message board don't mean anything either, yet he we are... Can't debate facts only oppinions that's what makes both rankings and this board fun (very few facts to slow us down). Facts ar thread killers
  6. Can't be coach P ... Regionrat said boy and we all know coach P is a MAN ... Or a big wad of gristle, but not a boy.
  7. Which boy would that be? I can't think of any big transfers from the region to Indy. Am I missing something.
  8. Some how I missed that he only has 2 losses. I personally can't believe the biggest buzz of the whole tournament isn't the potential match up of Ayersman and Phillips. Both 3x placers, both2x state champs, both with only 2 losses in their high school careers. I'd say this matchup is the most under rated. I think the only reason they are getting left off pound 4 pound lists is that one of them will have another loss and it is a tough call as to which one.
  9. Didn't see this before my last post, but I would say you are dead on with all your points.
  10. Iwasthinking just the opposite. After seeing Gelen take it to Kral, and the amount of confidence he seemed to gain throughout that match, I was thinking, I can't see Robinson loose to Kral again. What meat grinder of a weight class.
  11. I'd agree, and having seen both Berry and Sliga wrestle, I think Sliga wins that match up. I have never seen Maurer so I can't pick that one as confidently, but Mitch is one of the best big men I have ever seen. So I'll say Sliga here too. That being said. I am not sure many appreciate just how impressive Sliga's resume is. He could never win a IN state title and still be one of the best IN wrestlers of all time. (I fully expect him to win this year and next)
  12. The national vs state title debate was on a different thread and if a conclusion could be drawn it was unequivocally that National titles mean more than a state title, in terms of recruiting and D1 potential (I can't imagine what other criteria would mean more, other than Indiana mat message board approval of course). Based on his national accolades, Sliga is one of the best in Indiana State History. He is a 4x Fargo champion, and a cadet triple crown winner. No one from Indiana has come close to that, neither Tsirtsis(es), Howe, Humphrey, Escobedo, Maurer, no one, in fact very few Americans have that! It is an amazing accomplishment. As a 14-15 year old, wrestling at 189, he lost to Two State champs, a Runner-up and the Senior National Runner-up. So he has had some pretty stiff competition, in state too. the kid is pretty good.
  13. Tuff draw for Padilla, regional champ all the sudden doesn't look so rewarding.
  14. Finding it hard to understand why anyone could be surprised by someone picking a kid who is only a 2x state champion and lost only 2 matches in his high school carreer
  15. Pretty tall order to get 13 through, tough draws at the 20's (120&220 : especially the 120 draw), 10 seems realistic.
  16. i'd say that qualifies as a pretty big upset...
  17. I am making an assumption here and we all know the potential consequences of that,but...I assume you have not seen many of Sliga's matches Berry is a man, and a damn good wrestler but Sliga has too much for him. I do think it will be a good match but Sliga wins
  18. Two great seasons on the line; They will both likely get Kral, Robinson, Gallegos, Nickson or Reagon in the ticket round ....man what a weight class
  19. Saw a post on McKinley v Molloy and got to thinking is this the most anticipated match-up of 2012? IN has 3 weight classes with 2 nationally ranked wrestlers: Boston v Micic (won't meet until state - good match last year) Todd v Campbell (Todd winning 1st 2-1 with potentially 2 more match-ups) McKinley v Molloy (Molloy winning first 2-1, next possible match-up the field house) Throw in 2 guys going for their 3rd IN state title in Ayersman and Phillips (as far as I know, they have never wrestled and their first match would be at state) Not to mention a host of undefeateds that could still match-up For my money, I'll say Phillips v Ayersman as my most anticipated. Have 2 timers ever matched up before?
  20. Now that would have been a completely in sane SS- He and the other 5 would have had the opportunity to exchange even more losses this year.
  21. Glad to hear you will still love him. But in order to receive this much attention, it would help if he becomes a returning state champion who, as a result of some new weight classes gets lucky enough to have another returning state champ in his weight. Of course it would really help if they are both nationally ranked, and if at least one of them is on a very high profile team. Still it will help even more, if they happen to match up, undefeated as the top 2 ranked wrestlers in the state on the Wed. night before regionals, when the whole message board is just giddy with excitement as it is the most wonderful time of the year. I hope this comes off as "tongue inch cheek" as I mean no disrespect to you or your post, but it wasn't until I saw it that I really thought about what an amazing match-up it was, especially when there wasn't a bunch of other great match matchup like we would see at the state tournament.
  22. Yeah in the finals "220 lb: Devin Reagan (Penn) dec. Joe Gallegos (Clay), 3-2." Sorry I was guessing you were there.
  23. Yea, iguees I didn't realize it was quite that bad. What happened last week?
  24. Gallegos over Reagon 12-3. That's a pretty big margin of victory considering their past encounters
