The rankings have Austin Faulkner from mishawaka at 195. He wrestled 182 against south bend adams last night. Tavonte Malone bumped up and pinned Faulkner.
Davidson is a great wrestler. Irick is looking pretty good himself. Yes, just because your family has success, doesn't mean you will, but it helps, especially when your close in age. Irick took 4th last week, but he's already won two matches this week. Last week he also had Jones and Rypel in his weight. All four from that ss placed. And 3 are in the semis. Pretty strong weight at that semistate.
Good genetics, while his brothers in town probably a pretty good practice partner. Yes it's an upset, obviously a nationally ranked wrestler lost, but if you were to say one of the big Dawgs was going to get upset, its not surprising that it was to Irick, whose brother is a d1 wrestler, and he's a pretty good size on top of that, that's all I'm saying.
My older brother called it right before the match. He said Irick would win and people would talk about the "big upset" that isn't that big since his brother is a d1 wrestler.
Penn state had the potential to be this powerhouse forever. They just needed a big time coach. Not only do they get the big recruits but they get great walk ons because of how solid Pennsylvania is. Indiana or Purdue can be good, but I do feel Iowa and Penn state have it easier from a recruiting standpoint.
Yes Red would have a flawless and impressive career. But in terms of domination, or athleticism you could argue others. In terms of better career obviously youd go with red.
Assuming Lee and Red make the finals, I think both should just have them announce all their accomplishments from when they started wrestling till now. Just think of the build up and anticipation after saying all of those accomplishments
I think the people that want it to stay the way it is obviously just dont want to watch heavyweights wrestle. They know if red and lee are last they will be forced to stay all night and watch the big boys! That being said, with parris, woods, and streck lighting it up all day maybe that will entice people to stay.
Red may not make the finals either. It is wrestling. But Lee imo is just as likely as Red to make it to the finals. Highly ranked in the nation losing before the finals to a non nationally ranked wrestler would be one of, if not the biggest upsets of the tournament. If your going to mention Lee possibly not making it, you should mention the possibility of Red not making it.
I get that you are picking Red, but those that think Lee beating Molloy like that makes him more likely to beat Red are wrong imo. Could Lee win? Yeah. But transitive property doesnt work in wrestling, otherwise David Taylor would be 7-0 against Kyle Dake, do to him being more dominant. Obviously thats not the case. Red against elite talent has unbelievable defense. Lee has unbelievable offense. It should be a great time for everyone watching.
Though I was suprised how dominant Lee was against Molloy, Molloy is much, much better on his feet then on the mat, and from what I have seen prefers to go neutral over bottom. I didn't see this match but I assume Lee exposed Molloy on bottom. I'm excited about the Lee/Red match but I don't see the Molloy/Lee match as a gauge at all. Maybe if Lee played takedown let em up, but either way, it was impressive.
I was thinking Warren might get 14 in the finals if they were at ft wayne ss. Ihsaa might have just givin them their first place medals and told them they didn't need to show up.
