  1. Don't know the kid and have only seen the kid wrestle maybe 10-12 times. I was very happy for him. It is difficult to wrestle at a high level for a team that only fields 7 or 8 wrestlers. Not trying to put down the Culver Comm. program but the level of practice competition for Hurford must be minimal. Winning a state title is a bit easier when you wrestle for a Perry Mer. or a Mishawaka program. These programs build champions. This young man did it himself. Great win for a neat kid and for all the small unknown programs.
  2. If you are going to write a letter like this, then have the courage to sign your name. Not to mention this is your version of the story.
  3. IMO Micic is the most technically sound wrestler in the state. Pound for pound better movement, more speed, better balance and footwork.
  4. I personally think 126 looks more stacked. 138 not a breeze either.
  5. The grammar police have arrived. ;D Really? Of all the grammar mistakes that occur on this board, you find it necessary to start a thread concerning the proper use of the word dominant. Too funny. Relax it's social media not an essay to the president.
  6. Micic at 113 is probably pretty close to unstoppable.
  7. And I would hate to be the semi state champ that gets him in his quarter of the bracket.
  8. True dat! Only 5 from Logan going to state. But boy did I love watching Twin Lakes Blake Denton ruin the day for a few 'Region Boys." Go Blake!
  9. It's true that the Logan/Lafayette region may be a bit behind in wrestling talent, but at least we're not a bunch of loud mouth, egomaniacs. Okay, maybe I am but not the rest of the crowd coming up. I love the sport and I love the Merrillville semi state, but hate making the trip north to the land of the rude. Even the crappy environment isn't enough to keep me away from the quality of wrestling that will take place tomorrow. Heck, I'll even cheer wildly for those region rat wrestlers once we get to Indy. I don't hold too much of a grudge against those that hold themselves in the highest of esteem.
  10. For the record, I really hope you are right. Despite what my heart tells me I really only see the following make it through: Maybe 106 Davis (Har), Blake Denton (TL), Maybe Hickman (Ren), Ricks (BC), Winkle (TL). I see a big handful winning first round matches. Best of luck to each and every Logan Reg. wrestler! Especially the TL boys!
  11. I'll go 1 over. That's all I'm counting.
  12. I am fairly impartial here, but as for Ricks losing to Stasiak I will say it aint gonna happen. I know the Kral kid from CP is good, but he better have improved a lot from last year or I think Ricks takes this weight class. I realize he didn't fair too well last year in the championship match against Berry, but to say he won't make it through the ticket round is a bit of a dream in my opinion. I'll be shocked if Ricks isn't wrestling on Saturday at the state tournament.
  13. When did semi state have full wrestle backs? I am not saying that you are wrong, I just don't remember there ever being full or any wrestle backs at semi state. I don't really remember how they did it when only the first and second place wrestler advanced to the state tournament. But that was a long time ago. But to be perfectly honest, if it took til midnight to finish, I'd bitch too!
  14. You should be proud of your boys coach. However, after looking at the brackets, I'm only seeing 2 maybe as many as 4 if we are really lucky making it out of that meat grinder known as Merrillville. I know as a coach you have to disagree with my low number, but I have been going to that tournament for 35 years and I am rarely wrong about the number of Logan Regional boys getting through. We will keep are fingers crossed that I am hugely mistaken. I too would love to see 14 get through as well, but....
  15. No disrespect to Miracle but I don't think it matters whether they have wrestled or not. I'm not guessing this match will be too competitive. She truly got a crappy draw. She probably would have been okay had she drew the Logan winner in ticket round like she did last year. Just another case for wrestle backs.
  16. Yes and I was wrong. Really got to give big props to Harrison. They were well disciplined, well conditioned, and ready to wrestle. I was also impressed with BC's performance. Heck if the BC 113 kid wins like I thought he would, BC ends up with 4 champs alone. I was real happy for the 113 TL kid. He wrestled great today! Now I just hope the Logan Regional can get more than 3 or 4 out of Merrillville. After seeing the brackets, I'll take Blake Denton as a 3 time state qualifier. Not sure what happened to Kevin Winkle. Must have hit his head pretty hard. Tough kid, looked great in his earlier 2 matches. I still think he can work with his quarter of the bracket. The Ricks kid is a damn good wrestler. Better than I thought. I'm a fan now. Can't wait to see what he can do with the boys from "The region."
  17. No way does the TL sectional only win one or two champions. Pioneer 106, Denton and Thomas TL, Hickman Ren. won't lose in my opinion, and 2 or 3 others are toss ups. I wouldn't be surprised to see TL sectional win 7 or 8 titles. I will guarantee you Denton won't be the only TL sectional Champ. Clearly both sectionals are a bit weaker than most in the state, but I was thinking how the Lafayette sectional is down in depth way more than they have been in the past. With McCutcheon and Jeff being extremely weak and with the realignment of several teams, this was pretty much a 4 team sectional. Yes, BC has a couple studs and WL has a few that can wrestle but for the most part, Delphi and Harrison ran that show from the standpoint of champions that will also repeat at Logan. JMO
  18. I agree about this Delphi kid. Very good wrestler and I believe he has beaten Winkle in past years. Winkle handled him earlier this year though. Still have to go with Winkle.
  19. Going out on a limb here just a bit, but I got a dollar that says Winkle beats Ricks in their rematch. The match was close the first time and I didn't think Winkle wrestled well. If he brings his best, he'll win. Just my opinion and prediction.
  20. How in the heck did sectionals that ran 4 mat get finished by 1:30 or 2:00? Twin Lakes ran 4 mats and took a 20 min lunch break and didn't finish till 6:30. They did take a while to spot light championship round introductions which I think is pretty special for the kids, but still don't see how it is possible to finish before 4 or 5 oclock. I bet they ran consolation and championship rounds at the same time but that wouldn't save that much time. Was a long day.
  21. That is good to know. I feel bad for this team because they were pretty good just a few years ago. Hate to see any program go through down years.
  22. Really? Where did you wrestle and how did your school get so many matches in the early 80's? I too have never heard of a schedule where this was possible until the early to mid 90's. Super duals weren't even around then and most tournaments in the 80's were lose one and done. I wrestled in central Indiana in the early 80's and even if you made it through the semi state you were only looking at maybe 22 or 23 matches total. Very curious.
  23. I don't want to seem mean, but how in the heck does a school the size of McCutcheon score a 0 in a wrestling tournament. I didn't even think that was possible. OMG that is pitiful. Did they only bring 2 or 3 guys? I don't get it. I knew they had a coaching change this year and were having a down year, but still. Not good for the sport when a school this size can't get kids interested.
  24. Thanks ddog for the updates today. I couldn't make it and appreciated the info throughout the day. Go Indians!
  25. From what I understand he then went on to completely dominate and I mean dominate Rockenbaugh for the 3rd place match.
