  1. 106 MD 113 MD 120 AS 126 AS 132 MD 138 AS 145 AS 152 MD 160 MD 170 MD 182 AS 195 AS 220 MD 285 MD 8 matches to 6 MD...Championship matches only. Top to bottom there really isn't a comparison, but the Holiday Classic is a great tourney.
  2. Brennan Fan, come on man. 126 is loaded, period. No one is a clear favorite at that weight. Let's not forget that Cummings only had 4 matches under his belt coming off the injury.
  3. The problem is the rule is only applicable a portion of the time. Almost a certainty this decision lied SOLELY in the hands of CP's AD.
  4. Vito, I'm sure you'll come back with some witty and plausibly decent reply written up like an attorney for Crown Point, but at the end of the day...what did Crown Point gain from this?
  5. CP and anyone who supports them with a blind eye for what's best for kids can justify what they did until the cows come home. At the end of the day, they aren't upholders of the law or fighters for justice, their leadership simply showed everyone their true colors. Make no mistake, I'm sure Crown Point, as loudly as they speak also swings a mighty big stick with the IHSAA. I mean it's an affluent community, many successful athletic programs, lots of scholars, and scholar athletes are abundant as well....that doesn't mean they don't have a dumb ass or two on their payroll just like the rest of us. This is plain and simple..."NO WAY IN HELL ARE WE LETTING YOU TRANSFER TO PORTAGE." They proceeded to get parents on board to help prove their case, some CP parents wrote essays to simply discredit Leroy Vega, some provided video of Vega stepping in to coach Jacab Moran at IOWA nationals because he needed a coach. Even though Vega freely admitted that from the get go, so video was a moot point. Let's see, Vega who genuinely befriends virtually everyone, is walking past a mat where an Indiana coach isn't present...and he sits down in their corner and lends a helping hand, CP parents film it...and thus here we are. He has done this for MANY of our Indiana kids...for a lot of years and on a lot of levels along with Eric Keith...and have NEVER looked outside of Portage to build a team.
  6. What the heck do you know about why they transferred Vito? Are you the smartest man in the world???? Do you have insight the rest of us don't?? You seem to be awfully sensitive to the topic!
  7. Really what this may mean is that of the 3,000+ transfers only a handful have been contested by the sending school. Most athletic administrators, regardless of the bitterness they might feel, don't take it out on teenagers.
  8. Why can't parents choose to put their kids in the best position to succeed without penalty? I mean things change...people move for all kinds of reasons and want something different for their families. Granted, there have to be some restrictions, but if someone is willing to uproot their family and physically move to another school district where they have also enrolled their kids PRIOR to the start of a school year, whether it's for athletic reasons or any other extracurricular activity, why can't they do that without penalty?
  9. Essentially, any Indiana coach who opens their room to the public for an RTC or coaches other kids on one or more of our state's national teams had better take notice.
  10. How about "wrestling day" in Indiana? Kinda like "basketball day" in Indiana which just took place and was championed by the IHSAA. Of course it will have to be organized and administrated by a separate entity like Indianamat or the IHSWCA.
  11. Reminder, Portage has only one year of the AL Smith under its belt.
  12. 113: Peele fall 120: Poynter fall 126: Slivka MD 132: Bailey Dec 138: Melloh fall 13-12 Cathedral
  13. 1-4: Portage, Cathedral, Lowell, Floyd Central 5-8: Lawrence North, Crown Point, SB Riley, Westfield Portage and Cathedral are 3-0 and will wrestle last.
  14. Panties aren't in a bunch Y2. I just feel like the double talk will truly never end. December 10 is "basketball day in Indiana." What a great promotion, I think it's actually really cool. On this day Center Grove plays Carmel and then Lapel plays New Castle followed by a Pacers game, all at Banker's Life Fieldhouse. What's the difference in that and a HS wrestling meet followed by a college meet? Rule 9-7 of the IHSAA Bylaws: High school intra-squad scrimmages and athletic contests shall not be conducted as preliminaries, curtain raisers or double headers to non-school sponsored athletic team sport events. What's the difference?
  15. "He also mentioned promotion of the sport in media..." Funny...the IHSAA wants more promotion? They have squashed MANY events/ideas intended to promote wrestling in the state, not to mention hanging on to several idiotic bylaws that prevent our best from getting better and getting national exposure. I still don't understand why our teams can't compete in big scholastic tournaments because "OTHER SCHOOLS" traveled from too far away.
  16. Great tournament as usual. The OW went to a great young man! Jeremiah was a pinning machine today. Perry is solid!!
  17. Dang Y2, wasn't looking that far ahead, but you're right! I love it!!
  18. Wow. The 4th and 5th seeds at that weight are tough as NAILS!!! You'd be awfully hard pressed to find a tougher weight at any regular season individual tourney.
  19. #1 vs #8 got nada, zilch, zip in today's paper. Other than the microscopic results section on the last page of the sports section.
  20. Coaches, I tip my cap to all of you who selflessly gave your time to this group and ultimately to our state. The Junior Duals is like you said an absolute grind...especially if you wrestled both styles. As a parent/fan it was disheartening not to field a full team in either style, as there were many duals that could have gone the other way had we not forfeited multiple weights. From talking to other parents that were there, competing on the national team from other states is an absolute honor, and monetarily speaking, their kids were "rewarded" with this trip to represent their respective states. From the handful of parents that I spoke to, not one state had the price tag that we did for this experience, and some of the teams even flew their kids in for cheaper. Obviously, as coaches, that is out of your control, but all things considered, lessening the cost would probably go a long way towards getting a better representation of Indiana on such a big stage. It was an incredible gathering of accomplished, aspiring wrestlers, and coupled with the team aspect...it was exciting as hell. I hope that moving forward, we can actually get our best kids to buy into this event. On another note, it was pretty cool to see many young college coaches and top assistants actively coaching at this event...Howe, Morningstar, Simmons, Becker...in addition to our Indiana guys to name a few. PS: Coolers were allowed at this tournament, next year we need to plan accordingly. Thanks again to the Indiana staff! Major props for your commitment to OUR kids.
  21. Casual, what you're suggesting is revolutionary and at the same time quite scary. At this juncture I feel that we still need the IHSAA to perpetuate the folkstyle movement as well as the life blood of the sport in Indiana. There are still a great many of us in this one class state that feel we're doing a lot of extraneous things (like Freestyle and Greco) to obtain the ultimate prize of a one class state title.
  22. How is it that some of the highest state placers weren't on Team Indiana teams? I thought that was mandatory.
  23. What the heck are the wrestling parents doing smoking in the first place???? Come on man.
