  1. Definitely the best to never medal.
  2. Angel Escobedo had a great freshman run. Andrew Howe as well.
  3. Craig was the man, and a good dude to boot.
  4. That title may now belong to Delaney Ruhlman with 3 runner-ups losing to Mendez, Goin, and Goodwin under the lights. Honorable mention: Brandon James and Craig Macke.
  5. (‘22 listed first, ‘23 second) 106-(43-2) Hockaday vs (41-5) Dickman-low scoring affair, but the match goes to TB Dickman (0-3) 113- (50-0)Jackson vs (42-2) LaRocca- LaRocca super long and super technical, and his length gives Jackson problems. LaRocca stays on a roll wins 3-1. (0-6) 120- (35-1) Leavell vs (33-4) Hockaday- good scrambles, but technique beats funk in a fun one, so Hockaday rolls 8-3 (0-9) 126- (34-1) Frazier vs (42-0) Thrine (rematch)- Thrine gets it done (again), and a well seasoned interviewer dazzles on the mic and a star is born 4-1 (0-12) 132-(43-1 undefeated in state) Seltzer vs (45-0) Buttler- Zeke’s best in state challenge all year and wins 6-2, but the closest 6-2 you’ve ever seen. (3-12) 138- (41-0) Mendez vs (48-1) Solomey- Solomey is the only person at state to avoid being either pinned or teched by Jesse but loses 15-4 in a major (7-12) 145- (43-1) Watson vs (52-0)Torres Barn burner 5-4 Torres (7-15) 152- (40-0) Goin vs (44-0) Lowery- holy h*ll!! UTB goes to the Sr. Lowery with controversial calls all around and a match that will be debated on indianamat for years! (7-18) 160- (37-0) Conway vs (39-2 undefeated in state) Goin- Conway is a gamer/gamer, but runs into a buzzsaw Goin. No need for OT, but a low scoring affair 3-1 Goin! (7-21) 170- (35-0) Baumann vs (25-4 undefeated in state) Goodwin- Brody was on a mission, but realizes how battle tested/good Goodwin is and secures an early takedown and plays it safe 3-1. (10-21) 182- (43-1) Buchanan vs (35-2 undefeated in state) Cruz - Cruz wins 5-2 and touts the new travel rules and competition as the reason he was able to pull it off. (10-24) 195- (38-2) Sollars vs (44-1) Purdy- Purdy stole 1 or 2 from an injured Sollars last year, but Sollars got healthy and pinned his way through state and catches Purdy in a scramble to win 5-1. (13-24) 220- (22-0) Carroll vs (38-3) Clark- Carroll didn’t steamroll the state competition in ‘22 and it would be the same against Clark, but he wins 6-2. (16-24) 285- (45-1) Fishback vs (37-5) Jones- Don’t let the records fool you, Brownsburg had a much tougher schedule that includes out of state. Jones 7-2 (16-27) Winner ‘23 27-16
  6. What has he done on the national level ?
  7. Which sectional and regional has the most going to state? Is there a breakdown somewhere?
  8. You don’t have to go far into the bracket to find a doozy! 106- Horn vs Rioux!! Meier vs Ocampo! drop some other great Friday matches!
  9. They very well could be the best team in southern indiana next year ….
  10. I haven’t made it through all of the sectionals but EVV Central 138 top 4 only has a combined 24 losses, and a 5th seed with 8. Not too bad, but who has the nastiest sectional bracket ?
  11. 1. 132 2. 120 3. 113 (in order) Thoughts?
  12. I heard he sat out for football, but is still wrestling for North.
  13. Can someone breakdown this recruiting class with high school credentials? Outside of the Indiana guys I don’t know much about the rest.
  14. 106 Hockaday- kid is on another level and puts on a takedown clinic and scores a fall. 113 Brooks- tailor made for that weight class. Brooks loses a point once he tries a mma moves. 120 Wilson- all 3 matches go to criteria but Wilson edges Kyrell in the 3 match series! Funk city and a barn burner. 126 Micic- Assuming Harper is healthy Micic wins 5-3. 132 Zeke- this one hurts my soul, but a 132 Zeke is equivalent to a 132 Red, but Lee goes on to beat this Zeke in college. 138 Alex - Jackson gives him problem, but no T-shirts gets beat by Devon. 145 Lee- Cody was tough, but 145 Lee is too much of a gamer. 152 Brayton- although Joe is coming off a win over Carr I still think Brayton finds a way in criteria. 160 Conway- Conway always pulls off the close matches, but Jordan is the upset king. I bet on Conway to win, but Jordan probably takes my money in a win per usual. 170 Baumann- I am betting on offense to win this match. Brody stays too offensive to get ridden out by Hughes. 182 Rypel- Confident Rypel rolls to a major. 195 Silas- Sollars puts Bankers Life on their feet when he throws Silas to his back for .5 seconds. Silas recovers to put on a clinic, but doesn’t finish Gabe and wins by major. 220 Caroll- Parris comes in as the slight favorite, but Caroll pulls off the upset. They trade-off wins in the Big Ten and are 5-5 against each other. 285 Chico- Streck is cruising to a victory until Chico does a backflip to an ankle pick and catches Streck off guard and lands a fall with 3 seconds left. main event Mendez vs Tsirtsis- undecided, my heart gives out from the anticipation and electricity in the room. I wake from a coma only to learn the match wasn’t decided on points nor criteria and the wrestling gods shut off the lights to the building prior to criteria kicking in!
  15. OOOOhhhhh I like that, Rypel vs Mauer who wins? I have Blake escaping and turning around and facing Rypel to win in OT!
  16. But at the same time how many women are competing? You have to factor in the level of competition and competitors. She’s the women’s GOAT of Indiana, but similar to mma you can’t compare this as apples to apples.
  17. 2x NCAA champion in a super tough bracket, is he the of Indiana ? We’ve had this conversation a couple times already, but is he the goat for winning 2 titles, or do we have to wait for freestyle and international and Olympic results?
