  1. You have to be in a special club. Last year a college coach was "mysteriously" left off the list for "more qualified" guys. My guess is it was revenge for divulging information to certain people.
  2. Parris obviously has some outstanding grades so he has the pick of the litter as far as the educational part. You can narrow choices down by many factors Practice partners Virginia Tech will have Ty Walz around Michigan will probably have Coon around Arizona State has Pendelton and maybe some guys working towards the Olympics Location Indiana, Illinois, Northwestern, and Michigan are all pretty close. Not sure how much being close to home will factor in. School success Virginia Tech, Arizona State, and Michigan are all having some very good success. Nebraska has a really young team that will be very tough in the coming years. Princeton has also been on the rise
  3. 67 wrestlers is the highest since 2009 when we had 83 at Fargo, we also had 67 in 2013. Here are the past numbers since 2005. Note these are DIFFERENT wrestlers. The max wrestlers for one style without regional qualifiers is 45 for juniors and 51 for cadets. Year Total Juniors Cadets 2005 113 54 59 2006 120 55 65 2007 97 43 54 2008 94 45 49 2009 83 43 40 2010 65 33 32 2011 59 33 26 2012 64 29.5 34.5 2013 67 33 34 2014 63 25 38 2015 56 26 30 2016 65 30 35 2017 67 31 36 *The .5 is one kid wrestled junior and cadet in different styles in 2012.
  4. While I think our process could use some tweaking, I do not believe it is the process as a whole is failing, I believe it is that our state as a whole does not take the dual events seriously or with great pride. You can see the other states take great pride in doing well at the dual events and it shows by their participation numbers in their top kids. On top of that, while our depth is getting better, after the top couple kids decline we start to suffer greatly.
  5. I don't have time to address the other points, but in all honesty winning regional does very little for seeding. We were seeded like 11th this year and lost to unseeded and lower seeded teams. Seeding only helps if we perform. I know we had both Davison brothers on the team to get seeding piints but could only use one in a dual.
  6. The ISWA and their leaders need to figure out how important it is to be competitive at the duals(schoolboy, cadet, and junior). We can do better and with some tweaking we could be 5-10ish every year. If we take the High Rollers that went to Virginia a month ago to Oklahoma they would have done very well. When I was on the ISWA board at the budget meeting they basically had $X they put back to all of the trips(duals, Fargo, etc). There were different ways they split up the money to each event and after that was done they split that money up per kid. If the ISWA determines they really want to do well at the dual events, they should throw more money towards those events, thus making them cheaper for the kids. I think the early "announcement" of the team has not been good either. If there are kids down the ladder that are solid that see the team is already formed they are turned off. They then focus on other events and go along their merry way.
  7. Results are on TrackWrestling with videos if you want to pony up the money. Greco got 16th, looks like they were just using the tournament to get matches in to get a 4lbs allowance for freestyle. Other than a couple weights with only one competitor everyone else only got a few matches. Freestyle is still going strong, the A-Team is going for 17-24th. They were seeded 11th and lost on tiebreaker to unseeded Georgia. The B-Team is going for 33-36th, but they are there for developmental purposes.
  8. Carroll, Brownsburg, and Columbus East all make the Gold bracket.
  9. No love for the #SuperChargers...I see how it is
  10. One of Liberty's state champs is on the Ohio Mafia so we'll see what they have in their lineup.
  11. We had a solid performance as a state there Covaciu has another year and was between weights Streck had a good run(I think he will expire UWW eligibility) Davison still has two more years to compete Red still has another year after a good run Brayton has two more years That doesn't include Nick and Joe Lee who have one and two more years left and were caught between weights. We could see some Hoosier flavor on the world team over the next couple years.
  12. Brayton has been paid off to not leak the info to ANYONE, even if it's his future brother-in-law
  13. When he does announce he'll do it on an IndianaMat hangout!
  14. Jacob Covaciu is also wrestling at 84kg
  15. Last one of the year tonight! Don't miss it
  16. There were some vulnerabilities in the old software, thus we were forced to upgrade versions without much time to rebuild all the pages. After Disney we'll start working on a brand new interface. Do not worry all the data is still there.
