friendofrunningwriter
Question ... we are trying to confirm. At the Merrillville semistate, four wrestlers from the same regional qualified for the state meet in the 285-pound weight class. Jeremiah Harvey (Culver Community) Damon Howe (Plymouth) Kade Maggart (Penn) Abraham Hall (Bremen) All four came from the Rochester regional. Hall, Howe and Maggart all beat champions from other regionals to punch their state finals tickets. Question ... has that ever happened before? Remember that the IHSAA has only been taking four qualifiers from a regional to semistate for a couple years, now. We are very aware that in the past, some regionals would send three wrestlers to state. But in this case, we are talking four. Can anybody cite another example? kullerySBR
Also at Merrillville, if Juarez (SB Riley) would of won against Rinehart (New Prairie) at 130, it would of been all 4 from the Mishawaka sectional...so close...so close.
currentwrestler
In 2008, the last year only three were taken to semi-state out of each regional, all three of the Pendleton Heights Regional 215's placed the same top three at Semi-State. Fourth place went to Joe Napariu (sp?) of New Pal that year.

KarlHungus
Jeremiah Harvey (Culver Community) Damon Howe (Plymouth) Kade Maggart (Penn) Abraham Hall (Bremen) Other interesting (maybe) nuggets: 3 of the 4 (the 3 H's) are from the same county. Now if you are from Lake or Marion counties this isn't a big deal but Marshall Co. is not what you would call urban Hall and Harvey have wrestled 5 times this year with Hall winning 4 of those matches. The athletes and coaches both showed a lot of class after all their matches, most of which were 1 point battles that went to OT. Well all of the coaches except the loudmouth with the camera. The NSC conference qualified 3 heavyweights. Harvey and Hall from Merrillville and Forrest from Jimtown. They also had a regional champ and ticket round heavyweight in Knox's Logan Short. Short finished 5th in the conference meet.
friendofrunningwriter
Thanks for the info, NavyGonzo. KyMannTheFlair93: Yes, but consider this... Yes, the New Prairie kid (Rinehart) beat the Riley kid (Juarez) at 130, but he lives in New Carlisle, so at least all four state qualifiers are from St. Joseph County. Also, Rinehart went to Schmucker Middle School, so he's actually a Penn transplant. So, in a weird sort of way, you could still say all four 130's came from the same sectional! Indeed. And all four of those are from the same conference -- the SIAC.

Impressive feat, especially considering our regional (Logansport) only got 6 total state qualifiers! Our TEAM< took 4 last year and none this year.
