this is one of the more bland sectionals we've seen in many years. not a lot of uncertainty on who will get first. the 2nd - 4th matches will be interesting to see who places where. oldtimer, the only pick i think you're off on is 145. moberly will take it to sampson. he's wrestled a tougher schedule and has looked better in my opinion than sampson has. sneed from fc could be a 160 contender as well.

i'll hold off on individual picks until i see the brackets.

teams

1. jeff - great season and will most likely have 7 champs.

2. floyd - 2 champs, maybe 3. "down" year for them but their young. expect them to be back strong next year

3. charlestown - probably 1 champ and several moving on

4. new albany - 1 champ and a couple of 2nds

5. gosh, are there any full teams after these 4?

New Washigton may  have a horrible schedule but Sampson will out last Moberly . I think Moberly is a great wrestler but i believe Sampson wins and finaly get his respect he deserves.

i agree that sampson deserves a ton of respect for being a great wrestler and more importantly a great kid. when it comes down to it though, i don't think he beats moberly. i'm just going by the level of competition that moberly will see everyday in the mat room and from opponents.  i see this being a low scoring grind out with a score like 3-2. if sampson pulled out the win, i wouldn't be shocked but i don't see it happening. as for the returning sectional champ at 145, i think he is a half step behind these two at this point. even so, he has to be given some consideration. like i said, when the brackets come out we'll have a better idea.

No way Moberly beats Sampson, i know bold statement since i havent seen Sampson this year and watched Moberly twice at Mater Dei.

Im going off of last year, Sampson lost in the ticket round to Jeff Weiss 2-4 in a stacked 152lb

Moberly was a regional champion and lost first round to a 4th seed guy who ended up losing in the ticket round

You are right about schedule strength and having nobody in the room etc.

Prediction that you can take to the bank.  Sampson 8 Moberly 4

Everybody is picking Daugherty to finish second at 152. He just lost to Jeffs JV guy last nite.  How can this kid get a good seed after that. I notice that everyone is picking the Ctown kid at 160. If he is the kid who wrestled at Jeff last nite I think you had better reconsider. Jeffs 160 pinned him.

it doesnt matter if it is daugherty or jv or whoever. he might make it out of sectional and regional but semi-state will be the end of the journey for most in this weight class out of the jeff sectional i would say. he's a good wrestler and may do well in the sectional but hes not on the level of the top 4 in the semistate. monday will solve a lot of the questions when seedings take place.

WOW! Those are some great seeds for some of those Coryden boys they must wrestle a hard schedule to get them!. Jeff looks like a land slide with 7 one seeds! Would liked to have watch that Sampson kid wrestle this year, hope he don't blow it this year and get head locked again. Wasn't that a Floyd kid that did that? Well here are my prodictions, if they really matter!

103- Shep over Happel  (YES,  Happel might beat little chubby buddy)

112- Smith over Thomas

119- Miller over Meenach  ( look for a surprise for 3rd and 4th!)

125- Stotridge over Marler in semi  (Springer should prob been the three seed)

130- The match here will be Witt vs  Martin  ( Fowler got beat by Witt last year so either one will beat him this year!)

135- Weekley over Denny

140- Newcomb over Rickman ( should be a great match with Denny in semi's)

145- Moberly over Sampson  (Sorry Sam but your schedule sucks) good luck though!

152- Golembeski over Tatgenhorst  ( Providence kid that cut some weight to 152 from 190 during football! look out) 3rd will be a surprise!

160- Too close to call top four in any order, ( I know who I wouldn't want to wrestle this time of the year!)

171- Browner over the rest at once!  Bowen 2nd, 3rd ? don't know the kids.

189- Bowen over( Libretto maybe 50.5 % sure of this )

215- Pratt over Dewitt ( going with the Jeff wave on this one)

285- Hoke over (Slaten or Curtley who falls on top match!)

Top three teams

Jeff

N.A.

Floyd

There it is! TOP THAT!!!!      Good Luck Teams!!!
