Jennings Co Sectionals

so does anyone out there actually have any predictions for the sectionals? Who is the team to beat this year? there seems to be some very competitive weight classes and a couple that have clear favorites...are the bulldogs going to win it again or is there another team that can stop their run? Any weight class predictions?

I'd say based on what I've seen thus far Jennings County is the most consistent up and down the line-up with Columbus East and North in tow.    However, with several bracket busters on the other team this year its harder than usual to pick a sectional winner based on dual matchups.   Team wise things are down this year compared to the past, but individual wise the sectional has some very high quality between the teams.

Those are pretty good predictions..Here are some of my thoughts

112 Taylor Madison

130 Carlile CE vs Gast JC (if he wrestles there, I think he has wrestled 135 and 130)

152 (For Second Place) Holt CN vs. Wathen JC will be a good match

160 Howard SC vs Baldwin JC should be a good one

171 What a tight weight class...I think Rogers, Asher and Kopitzke are all pretty close

189 Brownfield vs Bass is gonna be one of the best matches of the day

I will take Jennings County 1st with East and North right behind.  Bonus points will be a extremly important!!!

Good Luck to all teams, I think HHC is a very strong conference this year

i disagree that the hhc is a strong conference. i thought the level of competition at the hhc tournament was down. there were some good matches for the top 2 or 3 spots but most classes were very weak in the bottom 4 or 5 positions. there is one great team. one very good team. the next two are above average. the next two are a bit below average. the bottom two are very weak.

everyone thought the hhc was tough last year when jeff sent 12 to semi-state and floyd sent 9. only one made it to state and most lost in the first round to lower seeds. i would be surprised to see but a handful make it to state this year out of the conference. i hope more make it but i don't see it this year.

heres my picks for qualifiers

jeff  - 4

floyd - 2 - best chance to have a wrestler place at state

jennings - 2

ce - 1

na - 1 maybe

mad - 0

sey - 0

bnl - 0

How do you feel about the sectional? do you think it is more competitive than the conference? what do you think about team champ and individual champs this year and predictions?

i think the jennings sectional is a little tougher than the hhc and the jeff sectional this year. there are many more tough individuals and full teams at jennings. it has a couple of state champ possibilities like richey. it feeds into a much tougher regional too. southwestern always has a couple of studs to watch out for along with brown county. so throw in those guys and a team like columbus north and it is much tougher than the hhc in my opinion this year. i'd say the team champ is going to be jennings county with columbus north in second.

what all teams go to jennings now? i might be missing someone

119 Rieker vs Resch- Rieker (Rieker pinned Resch but it was 2-2 could be an upset)

125 Rieker vs Albertson- Rieker (Albertson is tough but Rieker is a stud)

130 Brawner vs Gast- Brawner (1 point match last year, gonna be a good one)

135 Mcgaha vs Shuler- Mcgaha (havent seen much of these two, but Mcgaha sounds pretty talented)

140 Adams vs Kelly- Adams (Adams is all go, no quit)

145 Waddell vs Lauderbaugh- Waddell (Cream of the crop in this weight class)

152 Richey vs Wathen- Richey (Should be a great match between Holt and Wathen. Richey is second to none)

160 Howard vs Baldwin- Howard (I think this might be closer than some anticipate)

171 Asher vs Kopitzke- Kopitzke (He better not over look Rodgers, and the finals match is one win apiece)

215 Collett vs Rice- Collett (He is head and shoulders above in this weight class)

285 Caum vs Blakemore- Caum (He is peaking pinning #7 Milan this weekend)

Jennings Wins a close Sectional possibly having 12-13 wrestlers move on

Columbus North nips East by 6 points placing more 5th and 6ths and moves 8-9 on

Columbus East rounds out the top three moving  8-9 on.
