I will fix that on the list. And the sectional results posted on the IHSAA site shows that the record for Hiestand is is 29-2, that is my source, so to supersede this I will need some basis. Of course in team points, ff = fall in POINTS, but as a wrestler I know it is bummer to go out and get your arm raised due to a lack of an opponent. It is always much more gratifying to mop the mat with someone and then get the credit for a win. In fact a local freshman sensation here practically ran off the mat after receiving a forfeit. He was quite visibly upset and disappointed. It is LUDICROUS to suggest that a win by forfeit is as noteworthy as a win by fall on the Mat. Obviously in seeding a tournament, you need to consider whether the wins were "ON the Mat" or just "IN the Book." A guy who is 27-3 with no wins by forfeit, is probably more formidable than a guy who is 27-3 with eight of those wins being by forfeit. DOES THE IHSAA in posting the records record actual ON THE MAT competition, or do they include in their totals points awarded to a team in a case where there was NO ON THE MAT competition? I am interested in knowing that. The IHSAA Sectional Seeding Criteria makes no distinction between wins by forfeit, decision, or pins. For seeding, a win is a win. Even with common opponent, it doesn't matter if my guy pinned someone that another guy only beat in overtime... both guys won so the seeding criteria with common opponent is not met. Also, when it comes down to winning percentage, forfeits get the same respect as any other wins. For this thread's topic and Kyle Mosier's record, though, I think it isn't appropriate to say that all of his wins but one are by pin if some of them are indeed forfeits. I wonder if the IHSAA in showing records for a particular wrestlers, shows the record limited to the weight class in which they entered the sectional, or do they include all matches. For instance, in roster move a 119 pound wrestler may get bumped up to 125 for tactical reasons and get a loss in a higher weight class. He may still be undefeated in his regular weight class.
