  1. I'm overseas - in the land of Yao Ming and Jeremy Lin. I am unable to access usual news venues. Doesn't Indiana H.S. wrestling start in the first or second week of November? Shouldn't there be some SuperDual results by now? Where can I find results of meets? Stranded in Panda-land.
  2. Clarence Bullock back in the LATE SIXTIES from a Fort Wayne school that existed back in that millennium. He was just skaaaarie. No matter who it was. He had no stance. He just look across the mat, walked calmly over to the opponent, or rather victim. No matter who, no matter what he would just pick the guy up in a bear hug and summarily place the hapless fellow's back against the mat. Time after time.
  3. Actually found them at http://s202.trackwrestling.com/tw/predefinedtournaments/MainFrame.jsp?newSession=false&sport=wrestling&TIM=1423433292124&pageName=&ie=false&frameSize=734
  4. You mean that IHSAA doesn't put up the Semi-state pairings? Is there no place to see the S.S. pairings?
  5. Often we hear of obnoxious youths at high school events. Often it is adults, parents and uncles and grandparents who pull the goofy stunts - like the guy who keeps yelling for stalling when the kid in the middle of working a half. Well what about the kids who hold open a door for a guying coming in a wheelchair. What about the two guys from Shenandoah who let an old man go ahead of them in line at the restroom. What about the two wrestlers who are both gentlemen, when after discussion the official awards a takedown that he had disallowed! Great examples of good sportsmanship. Yes, there were a few incidents of temper tantrums and throwing headgear - but what great group of young people are associated with High School Wrestling here in Indiana! Do you have any other good stories?
  6. Plymouth and Rochester are running away with this thing. Plymouth is up by 20 or 30 points in team score.

  8. Kayla Miracle is out with concussion to end her High School Career.l
  9. Same sectional, Same Regional, Same Semi-state: What happened in prior meetings? A couple of times one placed third, and the other placed first so they didn't meet in those tournaments, . . . But did they meet during the regular season?
  10. How is discussion of our guesses about outcomes in any way hindering or conflicting with "just letting the kids wrestle this out?" Of course they will wrestle it out, but this forum will continue to discuss its expectations. And that is interesting to some of us. Then the actual on the mat event will be the basis for additional discussion. The banter at the keyboard is always worth it. It is part of the overall experience and journey of enjoyment. It is fun to predict. I have made lots of predictions and I have usually been wrong. One year I projected the score of a Mishawaka match at the Rochester Team Regionals and I hit it exactly. It felt like what I would imagine someone might feel hitting a hole-in-one. Of course let the kids wrestle, but let the old geezers banter at the same time. One is not against the other.
  11. In the Mat Burns Pick Contest, there are FIVE participants tied at 11-3. Which matches did they miss? Those are probably among the upsets of the weekend.
  12. around here they call it "middle school moves." (Headlocks, bulldogs).
  13. This match was indeed an upset, even before the injury. Stein was behind, clearly being effectively handled. The 46-0 number one seed being beaten by the 34-11 freshman was an upset, if we believe there is such a thing as an "Upset" at this level.
  14. Any body here in the running? Probably had to go 14-0, but who picked Quiroga to get knocked off? I went 7-7. How did you do?
  15. I remember back in about 1971 a school here in the north had about half a dozen regional champs who all won with headlocks. Then there was the old cross face series: either cradle or bundle. Now it is the leg-ride and power-half, combined with guillotine, Turk, banana split (saw at least three pins with this and lots of near falls). Does this qaulify as junk? Or is it simply good fundamentals, like lay-ups and freethrows to refer to that "other sport" ? ? ?
  16. freshman beat freshman at 103, and the smaller guys will be more likely to get bigger and face more upperclassmen. Freshman beat three seniors, of unquestionable credentials to take 125. not to take anything away from 103. The skill and athleticism at this level is tremendous. Who knows, Tsirtsis may not grow as much, Phillips might grow more and in 2 or 3 years they might be meeting in the finals (archive this
  17. It is becoming an annual event on the forum: > Rant for two weeks leading up to the semi-state about how bad the venue is. . . (although it really has a great atmosphere and is run pretty efficiently) >Rant for two weeks following State about the fact that real hotbed is NWest part of the state (this coming from a guy EAST of US 31.) Where do these NW schools keep finding all of these powerful athletes? It is not recruiting. Great coaching, great community support, great cooperation among schools with open rooms in off season. My kids used to wrestle through three different schools in freestyle season. Interestingly, Our bus passes the busses going in the opposite direction from Jimtown, Northwood, Elkhart on their way to Fort Wayne. Wawasee probably drives right through the town where Northwood is (Nappanee). But it turns out that even though the gerrymandering has no rhyme or reason, it is good to be up there at Mville.
  18. Okay, FOUR-Peat possibility Tsirtsis and Phillips. Who else? Sophomores with two wins McMurray has a chance to three-peat It is a new era
  19. You are hilarious. Where do you get these powerful emoticon PHOTOS? Just like the horse of how terrible the site for the SS must be BEAT on for about two weeks prior. I had third row seats when I showed up for the finals, climbing over all the leftovers from the food that spectators smuggled in to the event. Is there a post elsewhere already active about how awesome the competition is at that Semi-state? What SECTIONAL has the most power? I know that Plymouth had one champ and few others who even placed. What sectional was dominant? Crown Point's?
  20. Were fully half of the champs from the same semi-state? SEVEN. There is no question where the power is in the state this year.
  21. Tsirtsis seemed to be all business, like he is thinking that his work as JUST BEGUN, and he quietly contains the plan to do it three more times.
  22. Seafood Manager at a Marsh, Furniture Designer and Marketer (Everything made using authentic Boat OARS), and Sports Correspondent for local newspaper, writing exclusively on high school wrestling since about 1995, and before that back in 1971 and 72.
  23. Try to locate me (the bald head) and orange clip board, sitting at the media table. I will try to get a completed set for anyone from the Media Room. (if it is for TOO many people, then I will need to charge for it ;D
  24. Sorry, but I can't figure out how to make this line up more evenly, but I have a couple of charts here in MS Word that might be nice information on the slate for the State Tournament. I could send it to someone in an E-mail and maybe it could get posted in a good form.
