    It always puzzles me how a coach can come on here and make picks. I realize your team will not win every weight but how do you motivate a kid to win a match when that kid sees that his own coach isn't even picking him?

    Kids at the smaller weights tend to be freshman/soph who are still growing. So, I'm thinking he probably has grown out of the weight class and is moving to the next weight available on his team. Good luck to him.

    It's not the first time and won't be the last time this happens. It's pretty sad that a school or AD puts one sport ahead of another. The tourney was already down to 6 teams from the original 9 but the teams that were left were all region teams who would have had no problem making it. Besides, it was bright , sunny and 25 degrees today. Kind of balmy. Now there are kids who won't have wrestled for 2 weeks when they wrestle sectionals next weekend. I'm not positive but does the new high school have a fieldhouse? If so, why not delay the start a couple hours and move the event into the fieldhouse . This way you make everyone happy without showing favoritism to basketball as usual. If there isn't a fieldhouse, why not make sure there isn't a home basketball event the same day.

    Why do you ask? Let me guess, Hobart is hosting a basketball game tonight after cancelling their wrestling. Wouldn't surprise me.

    Hilarious. Prob head up there anyway. Going through withdrawal with no wrestling on a Saturday.

    With all of our cancellations today was thinking about going to watch some Illinois wrestling. Maybe LPD has info on Catholic League Tourney at Mt Carmel. Start time and approximate semi and finals times would be great.

    Wow didn't realize the weather was that bad out of the region. So , now what a 6 team bracket?

    At worst this should have probably been unsportsmanlike conduct and -1 match point and not a team point since it was during the match. Common sense should have taken over and the ref should've realized that sometimes when people are injured words come out of their mouths that normally wouldn't have. Too bad he had to sit out a match but at least he had one to sit out before the sectional.

    Looks like this will be on Track Wrestling. Kind of strange that there are 9 teams entered into this tournament. Was this always the plan or did they add a team that may have cancelled something because of the weather we've been having lately? I know in the past this was done at Hobart. The more the merrier.

    Off the top of my head last year it was Hobart, North Newton, Portage, Frankfort, Morton, South Bend St Joe, Griffith, Mishawaka, . That is 8 teams but for some reason I want to say Calumet also but that may have been in the past.

    Originally the DAC was scheduled for Lake Central but due to construction it was moved to Merrillville.

    You are correct. The stalling point was given for not attempting to return to the mat.

    No school Weds so is match going to take place?

    So, it looks like both schools will be closed through Tuesday. Assuming that they aren't allowed to practice, will they get an extra pond for each day they could not practice? So 106 would in fact become 110 after adding in the weight allowance and the pound per day for no practice/school?
