Looking for a 170 lber (usually +3 or +5 lbs) for some summer dual opportunities. You will have the chance to get 25+ matches in 3 separate events plus multiple practices and a 2 day camp. There isn't a SINGLE wrestler in the state that wants to compete at a different time than their teammates. We have three wrestlers in session 1, one wrestler in session 2. You're telling me that our wrestler in session 2 wants to do a parade of champions and compete in a session by himself??? Crazy.- 41 replies

Frustrating.... even more so that the information handed out at semi-state doesn't match information given last night. Plans have been made, hotel rooms reserved, then everything changes. I don't know a single coach that wants 2 sessions on Friday (there could be some, but I haven't heard that opinion expressed). IHSAA will have numerous "dignitaries" on the floor during the last session that have no business being involved in anything going on with the event. -
I feel like the NFHS really hit the nail on the head with the questions this year. I really think these could be positive changes to high school wrestling. To summarize the some of the questions Q3) 6 matches allowed per day in a regular season tournament. Q4) Nearfall to match college style, 2 points for a 2 count, 4 points for a 4 count. Q5) Having a visual count for stalling when wrestlers are on their feet. Q6) Out of bound rule to only having one supporting point out of bounds. Q7 and Q8) Removing facial hair rule. I'm not sure what Q5 would look like, but it's interesting to me. College out of bounds is long overdue, this would simplify the out of bounds call tremendously.

We were really surprised with Jasper last year. Caused me to really rethink the semi-state experience. Up until last year, I just thought a painfully long check in, getting treated like we were children, and overall rude behavior of those running the tournament were all just a part of the semi-state experience. Maybe no one explained to the Jasper AD and his crew that this was how semi-state was “supposed” to be. Everything about how Jasper ran the tournament was first class…Genuinely nice, helpful, smooth process all around.

111 and 118 filled. Still need a 131 for our 1st team and 220 for our 2nd team. Both squats will be competitive. Trip includes practices with Social Circle HS, GA and Manatee HS, FL, as well as a two day camp at Jesuit Prep in Tampa along with Clay, FL, Lake Highland Prep, FL, and Camden, GA..... gonna be some throw downs at that camp! -

As action went out of bounds, there was a stall warning, 1 seconds left on the clock. On the restart there was an immediate stall call.

A few years ago, we had a kid who was hit for stalling twice with one second left, sent the match to OT, we eventually lost in UTB.

You have 3 kids at semi-state at consecutive weights, all wrestling their semi-finals match at the same time. 1 of your kids doesn't have a coach. It's crazy.
