  1. Undefeated for Franklin Community were DJ Smith 106, Jacob Stevenson 152, Luke Kriech 160, Garrett Fentz 170, Michael Petrole 182 and I believe McBryan Groehler 285.
  2. Franklin over CP 34-28. Portage over Westfield 43-12.
  3. Crown Point was ahead of Portage 29-22 with one match left, then forfeited the last match for the final score of 29-28. Next is Franklin vs. Crown Point, and Westfield vs. Portage.
  4. Franklin over Westfield 49-13
  5. [flash=200,200] Final 4 are Franklin, CP, Westfield (beating Cathedral) and Portage (beating Mishawaka 31-26)
  6. The winner of Mishawaka/Portage will face each of the other 3 other teams who win their first two matches in a round robin. So, depending on who advances, they could possibly additionally face Crown Point, Cathedral and Franklin. A great tournament!
  7. I have enjoyed watching the progress of the Jeffersonville program at the Franklin Super 6. They wrestle hard and show class as a team. Great job!
  8. Great idea, and definitely a missed opportunity . . .
  9. An example of great sportsmanship that I saw and really appreciated was after Merrillville's Steveson lost his match yesterday and then opted not to shake the opposing coach's hand. Merrillville's coach then MADE Steveson go right back over to the opposing coach and shake his hand. Steveson clearly has many great wins ahead of him, and I thought it was great for Coach Maldonado to mold this young man in this manner. That is something that he will remember for a lifetime . . .
  10. I thought the venue was great. Not a bad seat in the house, and seats were comfortable. Announcers, girls singing, etc were all top drawer. This was a very good prep for the wrestlers fortunate enough to advance to next weekend. Concessions were high as you noted, but they were good. A step up, but you gotta remember that some/most here might tend to be sentimental and prefer Roberts . . .
  11. I believe Spencer said that they turned it off, then back on, allowing it to recalibrate. Others following him wouldn't have been affected. He also said that he weighed in at the last and made it, but not allowed to count it according to the ref. Coach Hasseman has NEVER had a wrestler miss weight in the individual state tournament, and there is no other more disciplined wrestler on that team than Spencer. I have watched this young man wrestle since he was in 6th grade. I realize there are kids out there who "make excuses". Spencer is not one of them . . .
  12. For what it is worth, thanks to all of you who spend so much time with the brackets, rankings, forum moderation, etc. I, too, remember what it was like to get the info before this site, and I really appreciate the ease with which we are able to access the info now, mostly thanks to a lot of work by a very few dedicated people. You do a great job. Thank you very much.
  13. (OK, I 'll play along . . .) Then TONY DUNGY might disagree with you . . .
  14. With all due respect, I think John Wooden would've disagreed with you . . .
  15. Jeffersonville and Brownsburg are the other two teams. Holt brings their top team. I believe it starts at 8 AM.
  16. Sorry, I copied it as Fortville as they had it in our local paper.
  17. Team Scores: Mater Dei - 269.5 Franklin - 231 Union County KY - 168 Floyd Central - 148.5 Evansville Memorial - 128.5 Avon - 113 St. Xavier KY - 107 Mt. Vernon- 84.5 Trinity KY - 83 North Posey - 73 New Albany - 58 Providence- 31 Vincennes Lincoln - 30 Tell City - 20
  18. This is the best I can do: "Mater Dei finished with four individual champions and 269.50 team points. Franklin was second at 231, followed by Union County, Ky., at 168, Floyd Central at 148.50 and Memorial at 128.50." 19. N9, sorry. MD won, Franklin was 2nd and union County KY was third. Franklin starts 2 freshmen and 7 sophomores. One freshman (Stevenson) finished 3rd. 3 sophs finished 2nd, 1 3rd, and 2 finished 4th. There are some very talented wrestlers at this tournament from KY, in addition to the Indiana kids. A class tournament as always.
