  8. sorry if i made it sound as if someone got caught. makes me want to start a thread about the best headlock wrestlers in Indiana. my vote of course would be from the late 80's. MATT MORRIN.... national greco champion for team Indiana back in the day... i was one of his victims.. at the Atlanta open. almost stopped him then at greco state but fell short by a point. LOVE THE HEADLOCK! PERIOD!
  9. sounds like a great match from reading your post. put it on youtube so we can all see it. remember when i was a kid (early 70's) coach used to call the headlock a muscle move. by the mid 80's after several of us started going to greco tourney's and throw camps, it was no longer a muscle move in our coaches eyes. we found out the how, when, and where to hit it. the score can be 14 - 0 only seconds left and you can still lose! in my eyes... if you respect it, know how to use it, it is one of the best moves it the sport. if you get thrown by a reach back headlock, well you are riding too high and or hanging your head, get an anchor and this will not happen. if you get thrown in a headlock from your feet, your hips were higher than your opponent, you were driving in wrong, and had the wrong tie.
  10. i would say out of my two siblings my oldest bro Scott was the real stud. still is, and will be till he dies. would not wanna mess with kj (coach jones) either. guess i was the runt..lol

  12. thanks to everyone who supported the Randolph county student athletes. in this matter. All i ever wanted was for these students to have a shot at what that earned. i want to admit that Saturday morning while things were unfolding that i was in total disbelief. my family has been involved in wrestling in the state for many years and i have personally involved in wrestling in this county and state since 1976 in one form or another. . i was never a state champion nor did i even make it the state finals. i am the one who was pleading for everyone to leave. i understand why everyone stayed did not leave due to the uncertainty of the outcome. i felt that everything the sport that i have supported and love was being jeopardized. i had contacted news centers while it was all unfolding not thinking that anything could be done. it was my last effort to support the kids. i do not even have a son competing but still it just did not feel right in my heart to just st back and let this all continue. after wrestling started Saturday i felt like i had failed. not only for the kids but also the sport, my county, and state. then this morning i was contacted by Rick Hightower who made the journey to Winchester this morning to cover the situation. Now the few of us who showed voiced our honest opinions in this situation. Like i said i am very thankful for all the support. I PERSONALLY HAVE JEOPARDIZED MY JOB OF 20 YEARS TO STAND UP FOR THESE KIDS. I DID NOT GO TO WORK TODAY. I also know if i do lose my job in my heart i have done the right thing. i expect to catch a lot of slack from others in this matter and will man up for what i believe is right. i also know that i will somehow most likely be pursued in one form or another from those who disagreed with contacting the media and i will man up to this also. Just remember one thing. I fought for these kids and did not quit. Why because the sport of wrestling has taught me life lessons. to work hard, have dedication, and to not ever ever give up. thanks again, Shane T.
