  1. Do we have that many officials now? Back when I was an official there was a massive shortage, and I was offered contracts even after disclosing that I would be working at a bar until 4AM.
  2. WOW...times sure have changed since I wrestled in the early 90's. No offense, but Penn wasn't exactly a wrestling powerhouse. That's great for wrestling though.
  3. Well, you'll never see him in UFC. I've seen the man, and he'll never make the 265 pound weight limit. I could see him Bob Sapping people overseas for a few years.
  4. Dana may be mad at Rampage, but I don't think he will challenge Rampage to a boxing match like he did Tito.

I'll say one thing for episode one, that was a bloody mess of a fight. I couldn't even tell where he was bleeding from until they showed that huge cut after the fight. It's probably best that he lost. I don't think that's going to heal in time to fight another round.
  6. There were some really good fights last night. Thank you for the recap of the Stann / Cantwell fight. I was wondering about that one. It doesn't sound like it was as exciting as I would have hoped. I guess that's what happens when two guys split the first two fights.
  7. I guess if you're one of the people caught in the middle of the debate (like awood2 was), it's a can of worms. From the outside looking in (like awood3), it's more like a barrel of monkeys (kinda funny). I know, I know...go ahead and click the boo button.
  8. I have a different spin on this fight, and I think I know why Dana set it up. Dana has hated Tito for a long time. The last fight on Tito's contract was against Lyoto. The casual fan had no idea who Lyoto was. Even though he was undefeated, he hadn't fought on big cards. The educated fan had seen Lyoto's past fights, and who he had beaten in the past. I think a lot of educated fans knew that Tito would lose that fight. I think Dana knew it, and I also think he knew that it would portray the image of a washed up fighter to the casual MMA fan, and Tito fans because the casual fan only cares about the Icemans, Titos and Rampages of the world. Now you have this fight. Tito's signed a deal with EliteXC, and it went bankrupt before he could fight. He hasn't been able to sign a big deal with anyone else. Then, he suddenly has back surgery. He's completely out of shape. He shoots a video of his first day back in training, and he's puking all over the place, but he already has a contract signed to fight Mark Coleman. Yeah Mark Coleman's old, but he's in shape and hasn't recently had his spine cut into pieces. The casual fan will say that Tito got beat by an old man. In reality, Tito isn't ready to fight. Mark Coleman is a better wreslter, and Tito won't get his ground and pound going. He's going to lose. Dana 2, Tito 0.
  9. Has anybody figured out the reasoning behind the Stan / Cantwell fight? UFC.com has it listed as, "may not be televised". It's the tie-breaker fight. If you're not going to televise it, then why hold the fight? I'd like to either see them fight other people, but if they're going to fight each other again they should at least let us watch it.
  10. Good to hear. I was starting to worry that Jarman took the program with him.
  11. That's a shame. He's a pretty good fighter. It seems that there's an interesting trend here with guys fighting until they can get into acting.
  12. I think that the Colts idea could prove to be very costly. I don't think they are going to let you use their logo for free.
  13. I agree. They should have made the officials wear gray shirts.
  14. I'm going to have to cheer for Wes Simms. Any guy that gets DQ'ed for grabbing the cage, and stomping Frank Mir's face has got to be fun to watch. I think UFC has figured out that it makes for good TV when you throw in a couple of "World Class" nut jobs.
  15. Is this the last fight on his contract, or is it a done deal that he isn't coming back?
  16. I always love a good Gray Maynard fight. Still the only guy I've ever seen top out his opponent after knocking himself out. I'm actually looking forward to most of these fights. I've got a good feeling about this card.
  17. Is HWT kept at 285 just to accomodate football players? The Olympics, UFC, etc. all cut competitors off at 265. I wrestled heavyweight myself when the limit was 275, and I'm pretty sure that the guys who were at the upper limit could have made 265 with some healthy lifestyle changes. As for 103, I know that was a perfect weight class for guys like Gary Schmucker. I believe he won state as a senior in 1995 or 96, and I saw him a couple of years back. I bet he's still 110. I know he decided not to wrestle in college partly because he couldn't get over 110-112 pounds. I don't know what you do with 5 foot tall guys that have a fast metabolism.
  18. Has Manchester completely disappeared as a wrestling school?
  19. Well, Swick is out too. I love UFC. All you have to do is look at my DVR to know that, but the upcoming cards aren't going to get a lot of friends over to the house. Hopefully, having a local guy like Lopez will help.
  20. How much do you think they are paying him? I'm sure the pay for the Rashad fight would have been pretty good.
  21. Congrats! It sounds like you've picked a good school, and for all of the right reasons. I'll be looking for you on the Big10 network.
  22. Recession? What recession? It's hard to believe that they want to raise taxes in Illinois.
