  1. Quinn Harris (State Qualifier) would like to go at 126.
  2. Get your beginner three matches Saturday. We have extended the deadline until 3 pm today. Sign Up now! Large wrestling surfaces. Get done early! Sign up on trackwrestling.
  3. We have had some commitments from some VERY solid wrestlers. It has been very difficult to get everyone on the same page. Our goal is to take a unified team Indiana for the first time ever. If we can we have a great shot. It is all about the kids and showing what Indiana wrestling is made of. Look forward to a good day of wrestling and a great trip.
  4. That Rentas kid from Merrillville was funky on top. Has some cool turns.
  5. Well, it depends on the child's weight class. A 2nd grader may have a shot at 50 (the lowest weight) or another lower weight. But.... this is a very tough tourney. Most states bring there very best wrestlers. Kids may be first year schoolboys. With all of this said, I do not wish to discourage anyone. If your 2nd grader has been winning state events and maybe some national stuff too. He may be ready. The good thing is that he is young and has 4 more years to make this team. I plan on improving from last years results!
  6. Im calling bs! If any of you have taken your kids to the circus or an ice show at Bankers Life, we all know they turn down the lights for those. I think this deserves a "C'mon Man!"
  7. Agreed! Did not mean that he was not a stud. I just know that he was unranked and off a lot of radars. But I agree... no surprise for me either. I have seen the hard work that he has put in. That is what I was saying. Many have not seen him. Was trying to give him a complement. May have came out wrong. Again, Good luck this weekend buddy. Good luck to your son too. I will be rooting for both boys!
  8. What about unranked Freshman Jake Ruberg from Lawrenceburg. He lost a very tight 2 to 1 match against Cash. Jake is a really good kid that has put in a lot of work. It has been awesome to see this kid grow up on the mat. Seems like at any national tournament that I have attended over the last several years Jake was there grinding. Good job young man and good luck this weekend.
  9. USA Wrestling weights and age groups
  10. Avon Middle School North had 4 wrestlers finish in the top 6. 75- Trey Lane (1st), 95- Mason Miranda (1st), 117- Carson Brewer (3rd), 85- Camden Chatterton (6th). We also had Nathan Conley place 7th at 110. Per the above point system, the total team points for Avon North would be 44 points. Not sure, but this may be enough to take the title? Lane, Brewer, Chatterton and Conley all 7th graders that will be back next year. Avon Middle School South had 3 wrestlers finish in the top 6. 75- Ray Rioux "pronounced RIO by the way" (3rd), 132- Caleb Alvarez (5th), and 150- Aaron Conde (6th). Per the above point system, the total points for Avon Middle School South would be 17 Points. All in all a good day. Great job boys. Thanks to Rex and all others that made it happen.
  11. Sorry to hear about your loss Phil. Our thoughts and prayers are with you the Brewers and the Avon wrestling community.
  12. It is completely impossible to hold tryouts on a date that perfect for all. Please note that the wrestle offs were announced at the annual bidding meeting. Some club leaders made a choice to hold their events on the same day. With this said, I do know the Tell City club leaders. They are some of the best club leaders in our system. I am sure that they may give you their blessing to come tryout. As parents, we all have to make choices for our kids. I and sure that this will be a very minor choice in the whole scheme of things. Please know that the ISWA is here for you and are just trying to provide the opportunity for our young elite wrestlers to challenge themselves. We look forward to putting together some awesome teams!
  13. Not bragging at all. Coach is cool. I just know that these kids have worked really hard. Blevins has done a great job with them. Just would like them to get some props for the great season. They are a good bunch of wrestlers and even a better group of young men. Just proud of them. Look forward to an interesting state series. Good luck to all! Anyway...... I am really clueless. I am just a club coach that wrangles little kids! I could be wrong! Don't you miss those days when you did my job Lee?
  14. Not sure off the top of my head. He was at 145 most of the year and wrestled a VERY tough schedule. He is tough.
  15. Not enough love for Avon. They have a 106 who has a win over weaver this year (Luke Kimmery). Also has a win over perrys ranked 106. Harris is at 126. Could cause fits for any of the top 8. (OK maybe not Lee!) Sorry Quinn. Nick Etienne is a three time semi state ticket rounder at 132. Marcus Miranda has wins over 2 top ten rank wrestlers at 138. Shane Dillehay is a VERY tough kid at 195. Was seconds from beating Blake Brown in Evansville this year and has gotten better and better. All of these kids could be top 8.
  16. The ISWA has once again committed to attend the USA Wrestling Heartland Duals. This years tournament will be held in a state of the art arena in Council Bluffs, IA. This tournament is the very best youth dual in the USA. We finished in 3rd place last year. We look to improve upon that finish. If we unite as a state, we can do VERY well. I would like to see Indiana's finest at our wrestle offs (try outs). If you do not plan to go to the Heartland Duals, please refrain from attending the tryouts! Tryouts will be at Lawrence North High School on Sunday March 2nd. The trip will be April 11th to the 13th Here is a link to the wrestle off info: http://www.iswa.com/wp-content/uploads/2014-ISWA-Heartland-Dual-Wrestle-Off-Schedule1.pdf Matthew Brewer ISWA Folkstyle Developmental Director 317-201-0644
  17. Wow! What an awesome line up! Pumped to watch it. Very strong programs represented. Pool A will be brutal. Quote: "Great Middle School competition from all corners of the state. Quite possibly the toughest Middle School team event of the season!" Heck this might be one of the toughest middle school dual meets ever in Indiana.
  18. Best 1st post ever!!!!!? Now lets all talk about the kid!
  19. Contenders has 4 kids wrestling in the finals tonight! Nate Rioux (Avon) 6U 43 pounds Luke Rioux (Avon) 8U 43 pounds Drew Mills (Center Grove) 8U 75 pounds Gabe Sollars (Terre Haute) 10U 90 pounds Note: Parker Reynolds (brownsburg) 6U 49 pounds going for 3rd. Good Luck boys!!!!
  20. 138 Marcus Miranda (Avon) over Dillon Eldred (Westfield) in finals of Hoosier crossroads Miranda has now moved down to 138.
  21. Avon with 6 in the finals. All 14 will place. They are up big.

    126!

Didn't Wilson make 126 at team state? Is he not good enough to make the poll?
