  1. This information would have to come through the IHSWCA. JD Minch is the secretary and would have this info. Scoring would have to be modified and tallied through out the individual series to assure an apples to apples match. Not that hard. It should be a simple math equation. This has been discussed many times. I found a post from JD Minch dated 2-29-09 by googling. This earlier post may clear some things up.
  2. The real issue here is ethics. Is it right or wrong? Pretty simple .Right? Wrong!! The fact that it is legal goes without question. The upper crust of wrestling thinks it is ok therefore it is ok. Right? Wrong!!! Someone at the top needs to step up or this thing will go on and on and on and on !!!! This thing has been building for at least the last ten years. Everyone has figured out that you can bend the rules to stack your team and because it is a manipulation of the rules it is legal. If Bobby Cox will not do anything then this will continue and eventually ruin this sport. So SAD . "So it goes" on and on and on !!
  3. This kid is the equivalent of Baby Face Nelson of Bonnie & Clyde fame. Don't let the face fool you. This kid is loaded with athletic skill and a wrestlers mantality. NO FEAR and NEVER QUIT!!! Rock a bye Baby........ The Cradle will ROCK!!!!
  4. It was a latteral throw not a head lock and it was perfectly executed. The score was something like 9-5 with less than :30 secs. Not real sure. If you know how physical Davenport is ( Exceptional Athlete) you would have seen this coming ,as I did, from the stands.
  5. Concerning the Davenport and Warner Matches. No luck involved in both of these matches. These were well thought out moves by both wrestlers you have mentioned. There was a set up and an execution that these boys, I am sure, had worked on many times. That is called "preparation". Both boys are just as equally athletic as their "favored" opponent and displayed a never quit attitude that indicated that they were "mentally" always in the match. That is why they won. And Yes they were upsets because the higher ranked wrestler got beat in these matches, by Unranked opponent. So much for ranking. All wrestlers can learn a lot from these two matches. To quote Tony Dungy "No Excuses No Exceptions". Wrestle, Learn and Get Smarter.
  6. The number of wins is not as important as the quality of the wins.
  7. Exactly what is the state law regarding school choice ??
  8. WOW!! Watch the offensive wrestlers hip action. It looks pretty clear to me what his intention was. The real question here is not is this legal. It should be is this lethal? Time for me to hang up the shoes.
  9. Another question is when do you think this decision should be made, before or after you draw for the starting weight class or does it matter? I have always felt momentum is a major factor and might play a role in the bumping decision.
  10. I understand the idea of trying to gain an advantage, but to me this is a math problem -3 +4 -6 -5 +6. Here is the hypothetical. Your varsity 285 is out due to illness and your back up is a freshman who most likely will get pinned. You have 2 pretty good 103 pounders, so you put the reserve 103 in and start bumping everybody up. This is done even though you know the reserve 103 can't beat the opponents varsity guy who is ranked in the top 16 and the 215 has little chance of beating the opponents 285 because he is ranked in the top 16. Why not stay pat with your best 13 man line up and just FF the 285?
  11. I am sure this has been beaten to death, but I would like to be educated on this one. I understand it is more complicated than do it or don't do it. I have always felt that standing pat has a lot more positve outcomes from all stand points and angles versus switching your line-up. Am I wrong??
  12. Too many what ifs and what happened on a particular day. All three of these kids could win against the other on a given day. As I see it each kid is faced with different dilemmas. Cody is clearly a very good athlete. So good I think he could also win county at 119. Riley is also a very good athlete and has figured out he can have a lot more fun and compete at 112 and not have to compromise strenghth and muscle building for weight cutting to 103. I would applaud him for that. Schoettle is stuck in the middle. He too is a very good athlete and could compete at 112 or 119. Everyone, I would think, wants to get to Conseco. At this early point in the season these young men are still trying to feel this out. So, early matches do not mean much, in my opinion. What may matter is were they are when it comes to the semi-state round to go or Conseco on Friday Night if their goal is to place at state. I just hope these young men are enjoying the sport and learning its most important lessons. How to work hard , compete and most of all have fun. Good luck to all this weekend.
  13. Why don't you guys start throwing mama jokes at each other ;D
  14. Could someone please fill in the blanks ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? @ 119-130-145-189-and 285
  15. It will be a lot closer than this. 8 matches for Perry for 30 points 6 matches for Roncalli for 21 points. Perry still wins. If they start at 119 it could look good for the Rebels early and who knows with momentum what could happen. It is very possible for the Rebels to win this . Good Luck to both teams. Should be a good one. May be the "Match of The Day".
  16. With "My Man Mitch"s" educational cuts, this may become a state wide problem. I recently heard elementary and middle school wrestling may become a club responsibility. Meaning they will have to shoulder the cost. The all mighty $$$$$$$ will rule. Hope this does not happen, but you better be prepared.
  17. This will be closer than current predictions. I would give the edge to Cathedral 35-27
  18. It does not need to cost $ 22,ooo. Most programs will only take one team. About $600 per each wrestler. I suggest you talk to the Italian Mom(Screen Name). You could IM her from this site. She helped us get started. Make it happen !! You will not regret it.
  19. 119 Legan --CG Should Win this class. CG as a team has not found its rhythm yet. They could give Franklin a match. Chemistry,Chemistry,Chemistry !!!!
  20. This is a great season opening Tournament. Wins and losses do not matter here. Teams will look a little different come February. Football powers like Warren will not be up to speed and other teams have yet to coax there athletes down to lower weights. County Tournaments and Holiday Tournaments will be a better measuring stick. Good Luck on a Great season to all teams." LET THE COMPETITION BEGIN !!!!!!" 8) 8)
  21. Southside Chicagoian . THINK my screen name is a give away?? ;D ----- 8)
  22. We went from headlocks to illegal choke holds to Homer Simpson. I guess that makes sense. We definitely have a lot of Homers out there when it comes to rules and safety issues. The Simpson stuff is very funny though !!!
  23. I need to know what most college guys do in the off season to stay in shape and get mat time.
  24. It is hard to mix MMA with wrestling because of the illegal holds. Wrestling skills seem to help when mixed with MMA.
  25. MMA------ I do not think so !!!! Law School so I can keep my Brains intact.
