  1. Can't go wrong either way... Was hoping for a tie though. Can't wait to see these two in the big ten
  2. It was listed two different ways that it could be stalling but was probably a stalemate. I can't help you if you don't understand.
  3. Frankie is a good official. He's done multiple state finals. This is the first I've heard of him favoring cathedral and I find it a slap in the face. The call is debatable whether you like it or not. No way Frankie made that call to help the cathedral wrestler, he made it cause in his mind he thought it was right. What if we say certain officials went to public schools and make bad calls against parochial schools because they don't like them. I'm sure Roncalli , MD, cathedral had some bad calls go against them this weekend.... Was it because a ref has a personal bias against them cause he went to a public school?
  4. Rather you make that call is debatable but it was definitely stalling by definition. Personally I would call stalemate
  5. Great job and one of the best ever in Indiana
  6. So people are fine if a kid gets "screwed" in a HIGH SCHOOL match the coach has the right to do or say whatever?
  7. I could live with stalemate.... But if you don't think he was stalling I have some ocean front property in Arizona to sell ya. Was he trying to improve his position.??....no! Either way, gutsy call.
  8. I have about as much faith in the ihsaa as I do the fbi at this point.
  9. so what happened at Central. I think Owens got 2nd place
  10. i think the one thing that everyone is forgetting about - bonafide move or not - is the NEW past link rule. this new rule sure does open up a new can of worms whether its wrestling, basketball, baseball, etc. I guess if you participate on a team with a coach from a different high school, you might not want to move to that high school. I think this new rule was intended more for AAU basketball but has reared its head in wrestling now. also - i'm not sure if the RTCs fit in to this rule or not since they aren't being coached on a team.
  11. the reason it took so long was because it was a TIE. and they were trying to get confirmation from the IHSAA if they had a tie break policy in place. they ended up giving the trophy to Avon but then found out on Tuesday that there was NOT a tie break and they awarded both Avon and MD co-championships.
  12. yea...thats what i would have wanted to do...wrestle Red and let him have extra weight and not have to cut. Brilliant! I think this sums it up best. I know CJ will pull it together in college but he made a mistake here. Lets just hope he learns from it.
  13. if college coaches are recruiting only by looking at state finals then they are LAZY and you aren't going to convince me otherwise. luckily - they aren't doing this. I know for a fact that at they send out letters and emails to several schools in this area asking if anyone is talented enough and interested in wrestling. funny how baseball coaches can find talent and recruit kids without any individual championships..wanna know why? because they WORK at it. i'll say it again. If wrestler A beats wrestler B 3 times in a season but in a class system wrestler A loses in large class semi state and wrestler B is a state placer in small class then you're telling me that wrestler B will have a better opportunity to wrestle in college. this might be the funniest thing ever. it doesn't say much for the sport of college wrestling. i will end by saying anyone that wants to wrestle in college will be given a look. sometimes the kids and h.s. coaches might have to put in a little effort too.
  14. I guess I'm still confused on the "college coaches want this..." so are you telling me if we had two classes and a kid from a small school wins state 3 times he will get a college scholarship but if we have one class and he only places once he won't get a scholarship EVEN THOUGH HE IS THE EXACT SAME WRESTLER? what kind of colleges are we talking about...not the Division I, correct? I'm obviously not getting something.
  15. That was after they dropped the Jefferson and went with starship...kind of a slap in the face of the people of jefferson county.
  16. speaking of canadians...adams county named after Bryan Adams? Clinton county - named after George "the king of P funk" Clinton Gibson County - unfortunately for them...they were named after debbie gibson Grant County - Eddie Grant - gonna rock down to electric avenue Harrison County - named after George whose solo career was quite underated - probably the 3rd best beatle Howard County - named after Howard Jones - No one is to blame Jefferson County - obviously named for Jefferson Starship - Grace Slick went to Madison H.S. Marshall County - Marshall Tucker Band - one of the great southern rock bands sorry for Peru - but I think Miami County was named after Miami Sound Machine - Gloria Estefan still plays an honorary concert at Peru h.s. every year as a fundraiser for the wrestling team. Perry County - named after Steve Perry's successful solo career - Journey has never been the same since...all apologies to arnel pineda Randolph County - Even though Boots Randolph was born and raised in Evansville - his long lost cousin was from Winchester and named their county after saxophonist Boots Randolph and his well known Yakety Sax Spencer County - Named after the Spencer Davis group when Steve Winwood left the band and moved to Rockport, Indiana - also the home of Florence "Carol Brady" Henderson Wayne County - named after Wayne Newton who had a failed attempt to start a lounge in Richmond, later moved to Las Vegas and hit it big as a lounge singer.
  17. If college coaches are recruiting only kids that make it to state and not on talent then shame on them. I would think college coaches would rather see our one class and 24 per class than see 2 or 3 classes where it might be watered down
  18. I don't get the whole 1a needs to work harder...where did this argument come from? I think most will admit that IF...IF you can make varsity at one of the better (larger...ie. 3A)wrestling schools you have a better chance of making it to state. However, aren't there inequalities in every sport regardless of class? I'm not sure what to answer is but I vote to class a true ihsaa team state and keep individual one class. But let's take 24 to state. Top 2 from semi state gets a bye. And I'm not against classed individual but I don't see how so many people are entrenched on one side or the other and can't at least acknowledge pros and cons
  19. Good work y2. Would be interested in getting a response from Bobby Cox or faulkens Seems really close to me for 2a and 3a. 1a is where the big difference is. Perhaps a 2 class state would work for all "individual " sports
  20. The qualifiers and placers are pretty close ...Champs and top 4 are off. Thanks for the info y2 These numbers show me they aren't that far off. I still like a classed team dual format. Undecided on individual but still leaning towards one class.
  21. Here's what I was thinking with the numbers and 3 classes. These are made up but just using as an example. And again..I think for a team championship it should be classed. So if there are 100 schools in 3a let's say that's 140,000 STUDENTS (not wrestlers) 100 in 2a with 70000 students. 100 schools in 1a with 35,000 students. So....just using these figures, 3a wrestlers should account for 57.1% of the state qualifiers, 2a 28.6% and 1a 14.3%
  22. I'm not exactly for or against but here are a few things to consider. 1. Why don't they class track, tennis, golf, cross country? 2. Obviously larger schools have a better chance at winning state as a team. 3. The percentages are off...the 1308 taken from 3a is from a much larger population than just one-third of the classes. The percentages probably work out as close when you take it from the population of each school. 4. We may never see a small school win a state championship again unless you count mater dei as a small school
