Another good dual between the county and conference rivals. It certainly makes the middle school events more fun when both teams are competitive.
Clark Pleasant started off with a 30-9 run, then from there it was all Franklin taking over the dual.
Franklin gives Clark Pleasant their 2nd loss of the season 61-39.
Clark Pleasant moves to 10-2 on the year with Greenwood and Plainfield on the schedule next week.
Even though we're rivals, good luck to the Franklin Community HS wrestlers competing in the state tournament this weekend.
Looking to send a team, not this summer but next year (2015) since we wouldn't be able to fulfill a team this year. Looking to budget for the trip next year and get some fundraisers setup to keep costs low. For anyone that has organized this trip, would you mind sending some information on costs? I know it can be rather expensive, but going through reading this board, seeing posts about these duals, I feel we're missing out on some fun and some quality experience.
Looking for rough cost per athlete to attend, including travel cost, lodging, tournament fee($900 per team), etc. If you don't mind sharing the information, would you please send me a PM or an email. whiteland.wrestling12@gmail.com
Any feedback or information is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Shawn Slaymon
I believe Franklin Central had a run of 25+years of sending someone to state up until I believe about 5 years ago. It was a pretty good stretch of sending at least 1.
Clark Pleasant moves on to 9-1 on the year with a win over Indian Creek 70 to 42.
Indian Creek looks like they are getting things back together again. The Johnson County Middle School tournament will be a good tough tourney for whoever pulls it off this year.
The Warriors are looking to advance to 10-1 on the year when they take on Decatur Middle School tonight at home.
Clark Pleasant MS Warriors move on to a 4-1 record after defeating Martinsville East 108-15. Martinsville East gave up forfeits in several of weight classes.
Over the weekend the Warriors went 2-1 at the Southport Invitation. Pendelton Heights handed Clark Pleasant their first defeat since 2012.
Whiteland will have their hands full. Varsity lineup up with have quite a bit of underclassmen. Hopefully get in some good matches against some quality schools.
Can't believe Burroughs was called for passivity that early. Fought back to get the push out and cancel out the call. Iranian not doing a whole lot but staying low and reaching for an under hook. Playing the knee game on the edge to keep from getting a push out call for Burroughs.
Good match with the Iranian playing a good strategy against Burroughs but Burroughs is something else. The quickness, speed, and strength he has is just ridiculous.
That was a tough one. Not even going to try and type that guys name out, but he kept the pressure on Reese the whole match. Reese had a little trouble with that under hook he was able to get in on.
I also wrestled in this tournament, I believe back in 98 or so. I ended up 8th and I think I remember around 40 kids at the time. Largest bracket I had ever seen at the time. It was one of the best tournaments I had attended. I still try to encourage kids to get over there since the competition now is even greater than it was years ago and I even had Ryan Churella in my bracket.
If Indiana wants more freestyle output, they need to limit the number of Folkstyle meets and force more Freestyle. Folkstyle season for some of the little guys is longer than the high school season it seems. I know some clubs starting in August and of course running folkstyle until March. Then it leaves freestyle with just a little over a month of tournaments before the state meet. Freestyle runs right in with baseball and we lost a lot of kids to baseball as well. Most years it's getting nice outside this time of year and how many kids want to stay inside when it's 75* and sunny?
The Mid-State Conference was another great day of wrestling. A lot of good matches and plenty wrestling to keep you on the edge or your seat. It got pretty exciting there during the finals and consolations. Team points race was a close one all day.
Final Team Scores:
8th - Decatur Central 118.5
7th - Plainfield 126
6th - Martinsville East 140
5th - Paul Hadley 145
4th - Martinsville West 177
3rd - Greenwood 288.5
2nd - Franklin 369
1st - Clark Pleasant 374
Congratulations to the Warriors with capping off a perfect season. They finished undefeated in duals with a 17-0 record. They won the Johnson County and finished up as Mid-State Conference Champions.
Anyone use heavy ropes as a training/lifting supplement? Looking into getting 1 long one or two shorter ones to help our high school guys get in more workouts instead of the same ole power football lifts, that they're getting during APC type classes.
If so, any good places to purchase them from?
In case you didn't know, Adidas is releasing the Combat Speeds(version 4 this time) and will be available in July. You can pre-order them at suplay.com for only $60.99 instead of the insane mark up people have on ebay and any other place you could find them.

Clark Pleasant MS finished off their dual meets with a 95 to 12 victory over Shelbyville MS. CPMS bumped several wrestlers up from JV to varsity for this dual meet.
The Warriors finished the season with a 17-0 dual meet record. Clark Pleasant looks to cap off their best year with bringing home a Mid-State Conference on Saturday.
Mid-State Conference will be held at Franklin Community Middle School. It should be a good middle school tournament like always.
Clark Pleasant defends their title of Johnson County Champions. A good tournament from all schools involved. Lots of solid wrestlers from each school with plenty of exciting matches on the day.
Scoring breakdown:
Clark Pleasant 302
Franklin 293
Greenwood 237
Center Grove Central 190.5
Center Grover North 123.5
Indian Creek 118
Congratulations to the Warriors on their second consecutive win. Next Saturday they will be competing in their conference tournament where Franklin is the defending champions.
The Warriors move on to 16-0 on the year with a victory over Columbus Northside Middle School.
Warriors next meet is the Johnson County Tournament in which they are defending champions.
The Warrriors of CPMS with another victory on the year. The Warriors defeated Plainfield 97 to 15.
The Warriors advanced to 14-0 on the year. The Warriors will wrap up the dual meet season on Wednesday against Columbus Northside with the Johnson County tournament to follow on March 2nd.
I'm just curious, why does Indiana limit the number of people that can qualify for USAW Folkstyle Nationals? I know they take teams out the from the state placers, but why not let individuals that were not able to participate at state, to sign up on their own?
I'm not saying if it was opened up there would be a mad rush from Indiana participants, but why not allow any of our state wrestlers to go if they choose to?
