  2. Please list the weight class, wrestler, school, wrestler they beat and school and score. Quick and easy way for our buddy the rankings guy to do his updates.
  3. Highlights of an article the year he retired: The Indiana wrestling coach won a record 12 state championships - including nine in a row - and tutored individuals who won 22 state titles. He was named National Coach of the Year in 1999 and 2003. In 29 years, Goebel coached the Wildcats to an amazing 533-14-2 dual-meet record. One consecutive victory streak reached 135 matches, another 117. His incredible .974 winning percentage is a national record. Assistant Helfrich also set a record of his own by coaching the JV team to a mind-boggling 450-0 record in 27 years. The streak ended the year after he retired. Mater Dei is one of the smallest schools with 565 students in grades 9-12. However, there is a very strong family influence which binds athletes and coaches together. Last year, for example, all but one of the starting wrestlers was the son of a Mater Dei graduate. Mater Dei's 2003 state champions were one of the most powerful teams in Hoosier history. Seven of their 14 wrestlers placed either first, second or third in the individual tourney.
  4. I know this is a thread about current coaches and a bunch of good coaches have are tied at four. Can you imagine the dynasty that coach Goebel had at MD when he could get four in less than an hour one year? 2002-03 103 Fernando Martinez, Highland 11 112 Reece Humphrey, Lawrence North 10 119 Garlan Early, Fort Wayne North Side 12 125 Angel Escobedo, Griffith 10 130 Andrae Hernandez, Griffith 11 135 Alex Tsirtsis, Griffith 11 140 Ryan Pribble, Turkey Run 12 145 Craig Weinzapfel, Evansville Mater Dei 12 152 Dustin Nosko, Evansville Mater Dei 12 160 Sam Wildeman, Evansville Mater Dei 12 171 Blake Maurer, Evansville Mater Dei 11 189 Chase Thompson, Frankfort 12 215 Jake O?Brien, Franklin Central 12 275 Brent Surface, Michigan City 12
  5. I have updated the standings based off information gathered on this thread. Please let me know of any changes and I will update. I was surprised at how bunched up the coaching of state champions turned out. 8)8) Royce Deckard Bloomington South 6) BJ Faurote Bellmont 4) Derrick Snyder Mishawaka 4) Travis Walls Griffith 4) Steve Balash Hobart 4) David Maldonado Merrillville 4) Bob Harmon Castle 4) Brian Seltzer Elkhart Memorial 4) Dave Thompson Whiteland
  6. Yorktown has kids state ranked at 125,130,135, and 285. Castle has kids state ranked at 145,152,160,189,285. Yorktown has 103,152,171, and 189 good enough to be ranked in their region. Castle has 112,125, and 140 ranked regionally. My guess based off of rankings alone. Would be a great dual meet. 103-Y 112-C 119-? 125-Y 130-Y 135-Y 140-C 145-C 152-C 160-C 171-Y 189-C 215-? 285-Y
  7. Please list any current coach with at least four different individuals to win a state title.
  8. Would it be safe to assume that a certain MD coach would win coach of the decade?
  9. What happened in the Clay/Yorktown match that was unusual? Injury? Upsets? JV wrestled spots?
  10. You gotta wonder if we couldn't challenge for the title if we would have hung on to Brandon Wright and either Charlie McGinley/Blake Roytek - all 3 Conseco caliber grapplers. Oh well, Mishawaka lost Beck last year and it cost them. I guess turnabout is fair play. Why all the moving of wrestlers around the state? State caliper wrestlers do not move in the south. MD just gets accused of it.
  11. According to the scores on the results part of this site, Lowell has two wrestlers named Morse that pulled off upsets not posted in the rankings. I am not sure they are rankings worthy, but they beat Mishawaka ranked kids. 135 Gabe Morse beat Matt Guerra 7-5 171 Jackson Morse beat Morin 19-4
  12. Rosebrock 5-4 over Hacker in a match of 189 ranked wrestlers
  13. The paper this morning said that Rueger and Voegel lost once. Who beat them?
  14. 152 pound Chad Welch from Castle #3 beat Juliano from Mooresville 17-3
  15. Castle wins 160,189, and Heavy. 9 first place finishes
  16. Received a text that Welch won 112. Will post results as if I get others.
  17. Let's help the rankings guy by posting any loss by someone currently ranked. Post the person that beat them, current ranking of wrestler or both, weight, score, and school.
  18. Great job on the rankings. Looks like they were well researched.
  19. Hall beat Van Hook 4-3 in a good one
  20. The rankings guy has him getting beat by Trevor Moody of Reitz. Looks like Moody bumped up to wrestle him.
  21. Quirez is ranked at 152 and he wrestled 171?
  22. Can anyone post the individual results for Castle/MD?
  23. You can update your list by putting #5 Castle scores from this weekend #6Mater Dei 35 Castle 23; Castle 72 Forest Park 0 Castle 69 Jasper 3 Castle 28#9 Bl. South 26 Castle 35 Jeff. 25
